My Multiple Identities Revealed After Marrying the Bigshot-Chapter 463: Do You Know Me?
Chapter 463: Chapter 463: Do You Know Me?
"The other party was unavailable, and it took my assistant a lot of effort to barely secure an appointment for next week," President Cheng said, facing President Gu, adopting the same demeanor as his assistant.
"It must be because you treated them poorly before. Now that it’s our turn to ask for their favor, they’re giving you the cold shoulder," Gu Zhengfu fumed.
If it weren’t for this matter with Hexing Rice, he wouldn’t have known that this was how President Cheng usually conducted business.
He had no idea how many people President Cheng had offended on behalf of their supermarket behind his back.
"Cheng Jinghe, let me tell you, over at Jiahaowang, they’ve already struck a deal with Lu Youxi and are about to introduce Hexing Rice. You better hurry up too. Hexing Rice is already on the shelves over there at Jiahaowang, and you haven’t even seen Lu Youxi’s face."
"Let me tell you, I can’t afford to lose face like this!" Gu Zhengfu pointed at President Cheng, "If Yuehaolai fails to make a deal, it’s their loss, but if we can’t close the deal, we’ll be the laughingstock along with Yuehaolai. You must make this deal happen!"
"But... Lu Youxi won’t even meet with me..." President Cheng said helplessly, "I can’t just go to their company and block her way, can I?"
"Why not? Who do you think you are? Or would you prefer me to go and block her?" Gu Zhengfu said irritably, "Let me tell you, when I truly need to do it, I’d do it without hesitation!"
"If I’m willing to go, what’s stopping you?" Gu Zhengfu scolded, "Did you only have your assistant make the contact before?"
President Cheng said nothing more.
Gu Zhengfu continued, "It was your attitude that was wrong from the start. You made a mistake, and now you’re still not handling it personally, leaving it to your assistant. Who are you to put on airs?"
"What kind of supermarket can’t even introduce Hexing Rice?" Gu Zhengfu’s knuckles rapped hard on the table, "If things go wrong, the presence of Hexing Rice might become the new standard by which supermarkets are judged for their scale and reputation."
President Cheng thought to himself that it really wouldn’t come to that.
A mere Hexing Rice influencing their supermarket’s fame and ranking?
Surely no brand could achieve that.
"Cheng Jinghe, no matter what it takes, you must negotiate with Lu Youxi within this week about introducing Hexing Rice to our supermarket!"
"President Gu, regarding Hexing Rice, I have another matter to consult you about," President Cheng said.
"What is it?"
"Today, when my assistant reached out to Hexing Rice, they didn’t refuse to work with us," President Cheng said.
Actually, whether he met with Lu Youxi or not didn’t affect the introduction of Hexing Rice.
It only affected the price.
"But Hexing Rice has proposed a 10% price increase," President Cheng said, "I feel that this is quite an excessive hike. If we agree, our costs will be 10% higher than Sincere Supermarket."
"The promotional activities Sincere Supermarket can afford, we might not necessarily match."
"Jiahaowang also accepted the deal with a 10% price increase," Gu Zhengfu stated calmly.
President Cheng was shocked, "They agreed to that price?"
"Unless the person I asked is lying to me," Gu Zhengfu said coldly.
President Cheng immediately shrank back, not daring to speak. One couldn’t possibly suggest that President Gu had been deceived.
"You go confirm with Hexing Rice right away!" Gu Zhengfu urged.
"Yes."
Having been scolded bloody, President Cheng left President Gu’s office and directed his assistant to reply to Hexing Rice, agreeing to their price.
He was no longer insistent on meeting with Lu Youxi.
But this time, he played it smart by having his assistant say they hoped for an opportunity to apologize to Lu Youxi in person.
"No need," Lu Youxi said upon hearing the assistant’s message, "Just tell them I hope we can have a pleasant cooperation."
Lu Youxi had come to the company after finishing her class.
She settled the matters concerning the Little Pink Book and Hexing Rice here.
By the time she left the office at the end of the workday, Lu Youxi finally went downstairs.
Zhou Shuyan had an engagement today and couldn’t come to pick her up, but he’d sent a driver.
The driver had just called, stuck in traffic, possibly delayed by ten minutes.
Lu Youxi wasn’t in a hurry and said she’d wait at the front door.
But to her surprise, just as she stepped out of the building, a black Rolls-Royce slowly pulled up in front of her.
The car was quite long, and the tint on the windows was dark; Lu Youxi couldn’t see the person inside through the windows.
She couldn’t even make out a silhouette.
But for some reason, Lu Youxi felt the person in the car was here for her.
The companies, Little Pink Book and Hexing Rice, inside this office building were relatively small. Like her, they could not afford or did not wish to pay higher rent, choosing this place for its cost efficiency.
Because the companies were small, the clients they dealt with did not come visiting in multimillion-dollar luxury cars.
Lu Youxi subconsciously thought it could be someone related to Zhou Shuyan.
Just as she thought this, the rear car door opened, and a cane emerged first.
Once the cane touched the ground, a leg stepped out.
Lu Youxi watched calmly, finally seeing an elderly gentleman emerge from the car.
The elderly man had a stern face, his eyelids slightly drooping from age, but his gaze still held a sharpness.
After stepping out of the car, the old man lifted his head and locked eyes with Lu Youxi, not looking away.
Lu Youxi met the elderly man’s stare and gave him a friendly nod.
The elderly man slightly raised his eyebrows, and somehow, through that gesture, Lu Youxi felt she saw a hint of Zhou Shuyan.
Lu Youxi had a vague idea of the old man’s identity.
"Do you know me?" the old man asked, raising his eyebrow.
"I don’t," Lu Youxi answered truthfully.
"Then why are you nodding to me?" the old man asked with a tone that seemed to be picking a fight.
Lu Youxi curled her lips slightly, treating the old man as if he was just a capricious child, "You were looking at me, so I nodded at you. It’s a polite greeting to a stranger."
"Are you always this friendly to strangers?" the elderly man inquired.
"Not always. Usually, I am friendlier to those who seem friendly, or appear to be a bit shy, to save them from embarrassment," Lu Youxi said.
"Do I look like I’m shy?" the old man pointed at his nose, scoffing at the idea.
"Not at all," Lu Youxi said.
"So did I seem very friendly to you just now?" the old man pressed. He bore a countenance that made him appear unapproachable, though he felt he was quite amiable.
Consequently, people meeting him for the first time were generally too intimidated to approach him.
"You didn’t," Lu Youxi said honestly, "You look as if you might be difficult to get along with, and at the moment, your demeanor towards me is not very polite."
