My Servant System-Chapter 1329 - 1328: Onslaught (3)
The Trial difficulty ramped up rather quickly after the third wave, which had been comprised of a bunch of overly energetic and well equipped Goblins; they were stronger than Ghouls and definitely deadlier, but their strength was always in the tricky traps and ambushes, not head on conflicts.
That made it easy to butcher them at my leisure, a few of them getting the privilege of being trapped thanks to some thick ice encasing their ankles while I massacred everyone else, leaving a few of them alive to slake some of my urges early on.
When it was less dangerous to do so I wanted to draw as much blood as possible so that I could focus on fighting later on, and because of that I was now covered in the blood of nearly fifteen Goblins that were currently in pieces all over the place, their bodies burning slowly as they were absorbed by the brazier.
The reward for the last two rounds had been another two large Mana Crystals as well as an assortment of poisons and their antidotes alongside some special metal ingots that had the special effect of 'absorbing' the colors around it to shift into that color.
A perfect metal to make into some kind of stealthy armor, one that would have Anput going crazy as she tried to figure out the best way to make use of it and what she could pair it with; that was what got me excited about it too since it would be the best gift I could give her.
Now I was on the fourth wave, and climbing out of the sand to come and test me some more were some rather small yet vicious Drake Fledglings, the scaly and spiny monsters snarling and snapping at me the moment they managed to emerge from the red ocean of sand around us.
Their crimson scales reflected the sunlight like fire, while their ruby eyes flickered with hunger and determination as they began to group up and slowly make their way over to me; their length of roughly seven and a half feet paired with their height of nearly three made them out as more dangerous alligators or crocodiles, at least to me.
Same elongated jaws, same surprisingly quick movements, and definitely the same strength all coiled up inside of those scaled bodies that was just waiting to be unleashed on me if I made a single wrong move. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
They were dangerous on their own, especially when Fire Mana began to pulsate out from between their scales, shrouding them in a cloak of flames that enhanced their strength even more... and now there were easily a dozen of them staring at me like I was their dinner.
Sadly for the beasties I was their perfect counter, a quick surge of my mana and a spoken spell later quenching their newfound armor and soaking them to the bone in frigid water, hindering their movements somewhat as their cold blooded nature acted against them.
Opting for speed in my legs and power in my arms, I sheathed my Falcata and gripped my War Pick in both hands as I darted around, never stopping and constantly swinging that heavy weapon down into their skulls spike first.
Their scales were thick, and sometimes the spike didn't find purchase to punch through and pierce their brains, but if that was the case they still were staggered from the force of the blow, allowing me to rush off to the next and begin the process all over again.

While my mate was off fighting in some really awesome sounding Trial, I was stuck back at the basecamp with the older, stronger, far more arrogant Caninekin that had tried to take her from me, and she knew that I was still simmering a little over the whole thing.
Compared to Jahi and Kat, I had a little more experience with this 'Lady' then they did, even with Kat's new traipse through another Trial with her; those trainings we had months ago were long and arduous, and yet now I was feeling far worse despite not really doing anything.
I was just staring back at her as she lounged atop the carriage, plucking the dirt from her nails with a dagger and smirking at me as she waited for me to initiate the conversation... only to do it herself when I kept quiet.
"You gonna keep staring at me like that or are you gonna finally say something, lil pup? Wanna accuse me of almost stealing your bitch from you, reprimand me? Tell me off and make me swear to never do it again?"
The challenge in her voice made my lip curl a little, but I bit back the immediate retort I wanted to snap at her and instead stared at her for a moment longer before saying "No, I don't, because Kat said you promised her you'd stop. And unless you're about to tell me you were lying to her and that your word means nothing..."
Immediately her smirk faded a little, not out of annoyance or out of surprise, but instead out of admission as she just shrugged and replied "Nah, I don't plan on dirtying my own word. Don't worry about that. But hey, I said I'd stop trying to fuck her, not that I wouldn't want to flirt with her... maybe cop a feel or two..."
That smirk just came right back as she found a new avenue to goad me with, and for a moment I was almost willing to give in to the onslaught of anger that washed over me as she said that, but I took a few deep breaths and calmed myself down.
"I'd rather you didn't."
It was all I managed to say, both because I felt like anything more would have me growling at her and also because she just snorted and said "Tough luck. I'm bored, horny, and your bitch is one hell of a distraction. Just be happy I'm tied down... 'cause otherwise she'd be mine."
Another challenge and another reason for me to want to try and put her in her place, but the problem was her place was still so far above me I couldn't even imagine being there myself, letting alone putting her there... and she knew it.
"But hey, I'll admit I like the grit from you again. You were a tenacious little prick, and if you even have an ounce of the rawness that Anubi has you'll do fine, so... my gift to you, then. I'll keep it to a minimum, but you might wanna consider the fact that you keeping her away from me just makes me want her more. And it adds a layer of forbidden flavor that entices us both."
Her smirk was tinged with something that irked me, and it wasn't because she was being arrogant or annoying; it was because she was right, that this rule we placed on Kat to keep her away from the Demon Wolf would only make her all the more appealing in that backwards sort of way.
You want that which you cannot have, especially if everyone is telling you that you cannot have it; now you just want to have it out of principle, even more so if you know that you can get it rather easily...
And Kat could get anyone she wanted rather easily... which was a large part of the damn problem we were facing...
Though I think she'd currently tell me to piss off since she's likely in the middle of some battle that leaves no time for her to imagine such things, or that she was currently bleeding something dry and getting off on that instead... therefor not having the brain capacity to imagine being with this Demon Wolf...
