My Werewolf System-Chapter 1257: A Lone Warrior
The entire area was covered in frost, and now Midwak's own hand was partly frozen over. All of it could have only come from one person, who was right in front of him, unaffected by his own powers. But to Midwak, based on what he knew, it made no sense.
'I listened well to Galark when he passed down the teachings of the Werewolves. From what I remember, there have been times in history where Werewolves were able to consume other beasts and gain part of their powers. The records showed them gaining the same types of abilities from things they ate.
'Us Werewolves as a whole gain strength from eating powerful enemies, but as for gaining abilities, that is unheard of—apart from the Alpha. It was only the Alpha that was recorded with these special powers.'
In the middle of his thoughts, Midwak tensed his hand and tried to strike the swift Kai, but instead, Kai used his mouth and bit across his chest as he moved right past.
A cut was made and part of the outer layer was frozen. Since the strike was on his chest, it didn't affect his movement too much, but the attacks were having more of an elemental effect compared to before.
'He's not an Alpha though… so how could he have gained this power? Is it because of his special class? There's not much information on the shapeshifter class, but it would make some sense. The Werewolf in the first place is the only one that can change its form into something the others cannot.
'So if it also had this ability, to replicate part of the beast it ate… then this might be what I'm experiencing right now. But this power—for it to have such an effect—just what type of beast did he eat?'
After the last attack, Kai was no longer in his wolf form, and instead transformed into his werewolf form. He came rushing over to Midwak and delivered a heavy punch hitting him across the head.
Right after, using the momentum, Kai twisted his body and then kicked his head again. Following through with the attack, the rest of Midwak's body hit the rooftop and bounced, breaking part of the concrete.
Midwak quickly rolled away, and it was just moments before Kai's foot stomped on the floor, missing his head. In its place, though, part of the flooring had turned to ice. The area wasn't large that was covered but it still was a strange site for even Kai to get used to.
"Did you not believe me?" Kai said as he continued to walk over to Midwak. It was only then that Midwak noticed that part of the fur on his face had frost on it. "Let's take this to the point where you took me—to the depths."
Kai charged forward once again and dodged Midwak's strikes. They were incredibly slow, even slower than before, because even while not in his wolf form, there was a coldness near Kai that slowed down his opponent's attacks.
He punched Midwak in the stomach, avoided several hits, jumping back and diving back in to hit him in the stomach multiple times. Then when he came in again, he grabbed Midwak's face and pulled it down, slamming his knee right into his head.
'Not yet… not yet. You did a lot more to me back then. I need to make a lesson out of you as well—to make sure that no fool decides to betray the Pack ever again.'
Transforming quickly into his wolf form, Kai ran so he was behind Midwak, then transformed again, jumping in the air, and with both of his legs, he slammed them right into Midwak, hitting him in the center.
'Although I'm stronger than before and a lot faster, he's still resilient. His body is still incredibly strong.'
Kai went to follow up, but as he did, Midwak threw out two claw strikes that went through the air. Cautious, he quickly avoided both of them. He wasn't ready to test his endurance, not in this fight against a strong opponent.
He was cautious because when a person was backed into the corner and believed their life was on the line, that was when they could be at their most dangerous.
As Kai walked over, though, Midwak stretched his hands out. "You think you're the only one with a special class? You have no idea what I've been through!" Midwak stretched both of his hands to the side and let out a large howl into the air.
"AHOOO!" The ice subsiding Midwak's body broke off, and part of the frost on the floor had cleared. A wave of energy seemed to be surrounding him, unlike anything from before in the fight.
Midwak's form didn't change much, but part of the wounds on his body looked like they were beginning to heal somewhat.
'Is this what Gary… warned me about?' Kai thought as he covered his face. 'He said… that Midwak—he could see it in his system that he had changed, right? That if I met him and he was on the other side, I should be careful.'

As Midwak huffed and puffed, he had his hands ready by his side to strike at any moment, and his fur was wildly moving as if it was alive.

"I'm going to have to rip your jaw off again!" Midwak shouted.
