"Wait, you want me as your Luna?" Ylva asked.

She was shocked. It was the highest position in the pack, second to the Alpha himself. It was as if she had just been asked to become queen of a kingdom. It was certainly a great honour for her to receive the position, but how could she?

How could she when she already had a life with another man?

"Is this—"

"You shall be moving into the castle almost immediately," Garlark said, not even giving time for her to say what was on her mind. "It is important that the two of you stay close to each other and have a strong bond. The support of the Luna and Alpha is what will allow the Pack to remain strong.

"And need I remind you, that you are not allowed to go against the Alpha's word or will. Let's move, as we are in need of proceeding with the ceremony."

She was stumped. She wanted to say something, but with Garlark interrupting her, and with his words weighing heavy on her mind, she realized she could say nothing. This was what it meant to be in a Pack.

There was no choice in the matter. And this was true for her sake, and for the sake of everyone she cared about.

Midwak had waited and waited for Ylva to come back. It had been later than usual. All he could imagine was that it was a big type of event. As he waited, he got impatient and tried to message her, but there was no reply.

After which, he began to call the other Werewolves that were in the pack—others who had partners. As they answered, he had heard they had come back, yet there was no sign of Ylva.

This only made Midwak worry more. Why would Ylva be the only one to not return?

"Did something happen to her at training? Maybe she was badly hurt and got into an accident."

This left Midwak no choice, and he headed to the ruins to find out what was going on. As he made his way there, he met with the guards.

"I'm here to meet with Ylva. She had training today?" Midwak asked. "Is there any way I could get inside to see if she's okay?"

"Midwak… I think it's best if you go home for today. There will be more information given out tomorrow."

"What do you mean?" Midwak asked. "Where's Ylva? What happened to her?"

The two guards looked at each other, which was all Midwak needed to know that something was up.

"If you don't tell me, I'm going to lose my patience," Midwak said with his eyes glowing blue.

There were no rules against Pack members fighting each other, and that was because of the training that was implemented daily in the first place. Also, Midwak was quite skilled and confident in his strength.

Although there were quite a few that could take him on, the guards that were just at the ruins weren't among them. Reluctantly, they decided to tell him what they knew—the rumours that had spread around those in the ruins and the castle—hoping that he would give up.

"No… no! That's impossible, that's impossible!" Midwak shouted. "She would never do such a thing, that's impossible!"

Before he knew it, Midwak had transformed and leapt into the air. He grabbed onto the wall and pulled himself up, forcing his way into the ruin grounds.

"This can't be good," the guards thought.

"You should've known he'd react like that—he's always been like that."

Knowing the truth, Midwak ran with all his might. He ran and ran and entered the castle. He rushed through the rooms, using his nose to track her.

'I know her smell, I know her, I've been with her for so long now. I can track her. I can stop her. I can convince Lupus to stop. I can beg him. I'll tell him I'll do whatever he wants, I'll be loyal for the rest of his life… just please… please… please don't take her away from me!'

It came as a complete surprise—Midwak storming the castle. The guards were unprepared for a Werewolf, of all things, to run straight in and crash into the throne room.

As he entered, he could see that Ylva's eyes had turned from blue to white, confirming that she had indeed become a Luna. Midwak fell to his knees right in the throne room as he saw the two of them together.

But balling up his fists, he came to only one choice. "Lupus, I challenge you for the position of Alpha!" Midwak screamed.

——

Back on the rooftop, based on the facial expression, it felt like Midwak was reliving that moment again.

"So what happened then?" Kai asked.

"What do you think?" Midwak said. "I won and then became the Alpha. Now Ylva is with me and we run one of the biggest gangs in the world, right? No, of course not. I lost the fight. Challenging the Alpha at that moment—I was too emotional.

"I could hear them talking, discussing what to do with me. Saying I was too emotional and would be no good to the pack. Garlark wanted me executed, but I don't know why Lupus decided to do something else.

"He decided to kick me out of the pack, to tell me that I was never to step foot in Ruin City again, no matter what. And because of that… I became an Omega Werewolf. And that's my story… why I've done everything I can to reach where I am today."

It was a story filled with emotion, so of course Kai could understand why one would end up going so far. But there was still the big question in mind.

'Where do Blake and Innu fall into all of this?'
