"Rio, Those are our schoolmates! They're in danger." Nyla exclaimed, pointing down at the scene below.

Nyla's eyes stared at the area below, and her heart sank as she saw a group of students from their school being chased by a pack of shadow cats. She could see their panicked expression even from this distance. The sight was jarring, and Nyla's mind raced as she tried to figure out what to do.

As Rio's eyes followed her gaze, his brows shot up at the sight. He saw three familiar faces who were getting chased by more than fifteen shadow cats.

"Do you wanna help them?" Rio asked, confirming her wish as there was one conflicting student who they didn't like.

Nyla hesitated for a moment before replying, "It's not just Talia, but Lucas and Sophia are down there too. We should save them at least."

Rio nodded in agreement, and the two of them summoned their weapons as they were ready to face the shadow cats.

***

Sophia's heart was pounding in her chest as she ran as fast as she could to save her life, her eyes darting back to see the shadow cats hot on their heels. The beasts were relentless in their pursuit, their growls reverberated in the evening air.

Previously, their group had discovered the location of a special beast which was a giant boar. If they could defeat the creature, their school's team would get battle points to aid them to rank higher in the national military school tournament.

With this thought, they wanted to claim the special beast's massive battle points reward but their happiness was short-lived.

A group of five students, with malice and evil intentions, emerged from the forest. This team wielded power to control the shadow cats, and they commanded the AI beasts to attack their group.

Sophia and company were caught off guard, as they were bombarded with the attacks of twenty black-stage beasts together.

At first, it was going fine as they had their senior who defended against the shadow cats. But the sinister group didn't like their puppet beasts getting killed by Sophia's teammates.

This led to the AI creatures avoiding the higher-level teammates and going after Sophia and the other juniors in their group.

When their senior members tried to help them, they were stopped by the giant boar and the enemy team.

The senior students were forced to fight the evil group of five and the special beast which caused them to not assist their juniors.

Sophia and other first-year students only had one option in this desperate situation which always worked, They ran for their lives and escaped from the battle site.

As the pink-haired beauty was sprinting away to save herself, she was surprised to see two figures up ahead, clad in strange masquerades

Her eyes widened as she saw the sword and black spear in their hands.

'Are they crazy? How can they think to take on all the beasts with just two people?'

Without stopping, Sophia and her friends kept running, assuming the masquerade-clad duo was suicidal. The beasts were gaining on them, their snarls and growls getting louder by the second.

Soon, they heard the roaring of fire and cracking thunder reverberating behind them, Sophia looked back again to only discover that the two figures were fighting the beasts effortlessly, moving with a grace and fluidity that she had never seen before.

The girl halted her footsteps, seeing her stopping, Lucas noticed the astonished expression on her face. He shouted, "Sophia, what happened to you?"

But even as he turned to look, his own jaw dropped at the sight of the two fighters decimating the beasts with ease.

The other students in the group also turned around to see the unexpected turn of events, their faces filled with shock and disbelief.

Lucas muttered, "Bloody hell."

Their eyes were met with a stunning sight, A young maiden with flowing magenta hair was in the midst of a fierce battle, her black spear gleaming with the fire as she twirled and dodged with ease.

Her movements were almost too fast to follow, and as she attacked, a yellow flame danced around her, leaving a trail of defeated charred Shadow Cats behind her.

Beside her fought a boy who seemed to be radiating a bright blue light, crackling with the sound of buzzing thunder. His movements were even faster than the girl's, and with each strike of his hand, a beast's head would fly off as if it were a mere vegetable.

The students were in awe, watching the two fighters effortlessly take down the beasts that had been terrorizing them just moments before.

The black spear moved swiftly and precisely, while the sword flashed in the orange light of sunset as it struck the beast's head

It was like watching a dance, with the two figures moving in perfect unison to fend off the shadow cats. Sophia couldn't believe what she was seeing, but she knew one thing for sure - these two were their saviors.

It was a sight to see as the pack of eighteen beasts reduced to half in just a few moments, as they blinked their eyes a few times the number was reduced to just two.

As the beautiful fire fairy slayed another beast, one more head rolled down on the ground beheaded by the blue figure's sword, announcing the end of the battle.

The air was filled with the scent of burnt fur and smoke as Nyla and Rio recalled their weapon and read the notification in front of their eyes.

The girl turned to face the stunned onlookers with a victorious smile. The boy, his blue glow fading, stayed calm as he surveyed the aftermath of the battle.

The students were left speechless, their minds struggling to comprehend what they had just witnessed. It was a sight to see, a display of power that would be etched into their memories for a long time.

As the fight ended, The students slowly made their way toward the two figures who had just saved their lives.

Sophia's heart was filled with gratitude as she approached the Magenta-haired beauty who had slaughtered the beasts with such ease. Lucas was right beside her, his eyes filled with admiration.

Talia had a feeling of familiarity towards the girl with the black spear, but she couldn't quite be sure about it.

As she got closer, she still didn't recognize her as the masquerade was hiding her face.

Meanwhile, the boy with the blue light surrounding him had a calmness on his face as he watched them getting closer.

Rio noticed the gratitude flickered in each one of their eyes, especially Sophia and Lucas. Talia was also feeling grateful to them, the boy was finding it amusing as he wanted to see her reaction when she find out her beloved sister, whom she hated, was her savior.

"I don't know how to thank you both for saving us. We were like fish out of water back there. Those beasts would have sent us out of the tournament if it weren't for you guys." One of the tall students said, his voice quivering.

He was a young man in his late teens, with short, messy hair and a friendly, approachable demeanor. He was a second-year student known as James.

"You are welcome." The magenta-haired beauty spoke, her chest heaving with exertion as she offered a small, exhausted smile.

Sophia's eyes flickered with confusion as she looked at the two mysterious figures standing in front of her.

"I'm sorry, but were you sent here by the federation to save us?" she asked, her tone laced with skepticism.

"It's me!" The girl's cheerful voice filled the air as she removed her masquerade. She had asked Rio if they could reveal themselves and he agreed. They both couldn't wait to see Talia's reaction.

"It's you, Nyla, I can't believe it's really you," Sophia exclaimed, a smile spreading across her face. She couldn't help but feel a rush of joy and excitement at the unexpected reunion.

Talia's eyes widened with shock as she processed the truth. Her own step-sister, Nyla, the one who had always been considered the least talented member of their family, was the powerful girl who had just saved their lives or saved them from dropping out of the tournament.

Her face became grave as the weight of the realization settled in that the girl whom she and her family always considered weak was actually this talented. How could she have missed it all this time?

Talia's mind was racing with questions, and she couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions - shock, disbelief, and a tinge of jealousy for underestimating her stepsister.

Lucas stood there frozen, staring at the girl before him. He couldn't believe his eyes. It was her, the same girl who was their teammate in his previous expedition at the purple tower of the outcast.

"Sister-in-law, it's you," he managed to say, his voice filled with disbelief and astonishment.

Talia furrowed her brows when she heard the term sister-in-law used to address the girl, clearly confused as to why Lucas was calling her this way. Nyla, however, didn't seem fazed by the statement, indicating that there was more to the story than met the eye.
