Chapter 726 -727: Courage (19)_1

Liang Chen carefully moved his body and felt the softness in his arms. That’s when he remembered. Seeing the tyre was about to blow, he was afraid of the car flipping over. His first thought was to shield Jing Haohao in his arms.

As the car flipped and tumbled off the highway, he was shaken and hit, feeling nauseous and dizzy. How much more so was it for Jing Haohao, such a delicate young girl?

A sudden wave of worry rose in Liang Chen’s heart. He propped himself up gently, then with the faint light coming in from the window, he tried to see Jing Haohao in his arms. It was then that he felt a piercing, intense pain sweeping through his body.

Liang Chen frowned, suppressing the pain. He saw Jing Haohao with her eyes closed, her head tightly pressed against his chest, obediently staying put.

His heart clenched slightly. His first reaction was to reach out and check her breathing. Discovering that her breath was long and steady, he breathed a silent sigh of relief. Then he quickly extended his hand, exploring every inch of Jing Haohao’s body.

First, he checked her head and found it intact. Gradually moving down, he assured himself that her internal organs were unharmed before touching the rest of her body.

When his hand reached her arm, he felt something sticky. Withstanding the pain from his injuries, he glanced down and went pale at the sight of a deep wound on Jing Haohao’s arm with shards of glass protruding from it.

Presumably, it was the glass that had wounded her arm when the car flipped over.

The wound was still bleeding, a thin stream of fresh blood slowly seeping out.

Liang Chen had no idea where they were. He fumbled around in the car for a while, but he couldn’t find his nor Jing Haohao’s phone. He didn’t know where their phones had been thrown when the car flipped. Even if he wanted to call for help, he didn’t have a way.

The highway just stretched across barren mountains and wild ridges. By now it was evening, and there might still be passing traffic on the highway. But if it got any later, once night fell and quietness set in, there probably wouldn’t even be any cars.

He didn’t know where he was injured. He just felt wetness at his back and legs, presumably soaked with blood.

Both he and Jing Haohao were injured, her lightly, he severely.

But both of them were bleeding.

He was losing blood faster than she was, but whether he could be saved was not that important now. What mattered was that she could continue to live.

Liang Chen quickly assessed the situation in his mind. Then he leaned over to Jing Haohao’s ear and gently called her name, “Haohao? Haohao?”

Jing Haohao, resting against his chest, showed no response.

He didn’t know if she had fainted from fright, or if she had passed out.

With great effort, Liang Chen lifted his arm, enduring his pain and shook Jing Haohao’s arm. After a while, Jing Haohao let out a soft moan, followed by a flutter of her long eyelashes, before slowly opening her eyes.

She seemed a little confused, as if she hadn’t yet registered what had happened. Looking at his face, she called out, “Liang Chen.”

When Liang Chen had just examined her, he couldn’t reach her legs. Seeing her speaking, he immediately asked, “Could you check your legs and see if they’re injured?”

Jing Haohao moved about in his arms, and Liang Chen gritted his teeth, suppressing his pain. After a while, he saw Jing Haohao lift her head and shake it at him, saying, “No.”
