All the servants in the villa were asleep. The huge living room was empty and silent. Jing Haohao carefully moved around without making a noise. She made her way to the entrance, changed her shoes, and then quietly opened the door and walked out.
A few steps forward, there was a large outdoor swimming pool, next to which a towering Land Rover stood at 1.8 meters high.
Even though it was summer, the temperature on the hillside outskirts was still low. Jing Haohao wore only a thin dress. She felt a bit chilly as she walked towards the entrance of the villa, shivering slightly. Nevertheless, she felt considerably liberated for not being with Liang Chen.
The road leading downhill, every fifty meters, had a lamp post on both sides. The fresh air and the incessant chirping of the cicadas added to the serene placidity of the surroundings.
Jing Haohao slowed down her pace. As she continued downhill, she took out her phone and hailed a taxi.
The taxi arrived before Jing Haohao had walked far.
By the time she got home, it was half past three in the morning. Like always, as soon as she entered her home, she started filling up the tub for a bath.
Jing Haohao washed until her skin wrinkled, just like the first time she made love with Liang Chen, and only then did she step out of the bathroom.
Deep down, she knew she wouldn’t feel clean no matter how much she washed. Yet, she stubbornly tried to wash herself in the illusion of not feeling so tainted.

When she woke up again, she was startled by a phone call.
As Jing Haohao searched for her phone, she glanced out of the window and saw that it was already daylight.
She picked up her phone, glanced at the caller ID habitually and then answered the phone when she saw “Liangnian”.
“Haohao, I’m sorry. I drank too much last night and couldn’t send you home.”
Upon answering, Jing Haohao heard Shen Liangnian’s slightly apologetic tone, “Haohao, where are you now?”
Upon hearing this, Jing Haohao subconsciously glanced at her skin. Seeing various shades of hickeys, she responded quietly, “I’m outside, the assistant director’s son is getting married, I’m going to attend the wedding.”
“Do you need me to accompany you?”
“No need, you drank a lot yesterday, you should rest well today. Besides, it’s not a weekend, don’t you have work?”
“Alright, call me after you attend the wedding.”
“Okay.”
Jing Haohao ended the call, checked the time and saw that it was ten in the morning. She dragged her weary body to the bathroom. After freshening up, she donned a high-neck dress and hit the road to attend the assistant director’s son’s wedding.
The wedding was attended by a large crowd, most of them from the entertainment industry. It was less like a wedding but more like a beauty contest.
Jing Haohao didn’t join the banquet. After giving the cash gift and greeted the assistant director, indicating her presence, she took her leave.
Jing Haohao didn’t know where to go or what to do, so she just drove aimlessly around the streets of Jiangshan City.
