My Young Husband, The Assasin-Chapter 29: Protect (2)
Chapter 29 - Protect (2)
This afternoon, Aira intentionally invited Saki and Issei to go to a supermarket to shop for groceries. It wasn't because they were running out of food at home, but because there was something Aira wanted to eat and cook with her best friend. Coincidentally, Saki would be staying overnight at Aira's house to keep her company since Renji had to leave town for work for two days and one night, leaving Aira alone at home.
Even though they had to be apart and could only communicate through their phones, the longing in their hearts was overwhelming. Just thinking about it made Aira's cheeks flush red with embarrassment. She felt like a teenager in love, though she attributed it to her pregnancy hormones, considering she was heavily pregnant.

Issei pushed a shopping cart filled to the brim with groceries—meat, shrimp, tofu, eggs, tuna slices, vegetables, mushrooms, a case of soft drinks, snacks, chips, biscuits, and more. It looked like they were shopping for ten people, even though they were only planning to cook sukiyaki for three.
"Is there anything else you want to buy, Aira?" Issei asked the pregnant woman beside him, who was busy looking around as if searching for something.
"I want to buy coffee beans for Renji-kun. We've run out at home, and we're also out of creamer. Can we look for them before heading to the checkout?" Aira said to the blond-haired man beside her.
"Of course, but aren't you tired? We've been walking around the supermarket for over an hour now," Issei said, concerned about Aira's condition, given her advanced pregnancy.
"I'm not tired at all. In fact, I'm happy because I get to go shopping with both of you," Aira exclaimed with a big smile.
The beautiful girl with a blonde ponytail sighed softly. "But if you feel tired or your legs start to ache, let me know right away. Don't just stay quiet," she said, looking worriedly at Aira.
"Don't worry too much, Saki-chan. I can still walk just fine," Aira replied enthusiastically.
After searching for the coffee section, the three of them finally found it. Aira, with a serious expression, began scanning the shelves filled with various types of coffee—whole beans, ground coffee, instant coffee, and premium brands with hefty price tags.
However, after searching for over ten minutes and even asking one of the supermarket staff, Aira discovered that the specific coffee beans she wanted weren't available there or anywhere else. Due to their limited production, they were considered a luxury item and hadn't yet become widely available in the global coffee market.
Aira wanted to buy Liberica coffee. This coffee is derived from a blend of Arabica and Robusta beans, resulting in a world-class flavour. However, it turns out that this coffee can only be found in Liberia, Africa. It's also quite expensive due to its exquisite taste. Typically, this type of coffee is used to make espresso and lattes, two of Renji's favourite drinks.
Even just for drinking coffee, Renji chooses premium-quality coffee beans, clearly proving his status as a wealthy young master from the Ishikawa family.
As his wife and someone who has lived under the same roof as Renji for the past few months, Aira has come to understand quite a bit about the raven-haired young man. Renji loves drinking coffee, especially when he's working on office tasks. A hot cup of coffee accompanied by some snacks or light treats is a must, which is why the storage rack is always stocked with coffee beans, creamer, and various snacks. Sometimes, Aira even makes the snacks herself.
Although the specific coffee beans Renji usually uses weren't available, Aira decided to buy a different type instead.
Renji's love for coffee has forced Aira to learn a thing or two about it. Since getting married, she has been the one to handle all of her husband's needs, from purchasing to preparing everything, as Renji insists that only Aira's hands should take care of these tasks—he doesn't want anyone else involved.
It was only then that Aira realized they had bought quite a lot today as if they were stocking up for an entire week.
"Is there anything else you two want to buy?" Aira asked the couple who had been accompanying her since the beginning of the shopping trip.
"No, thank you, Aira," Issei replied, shaking his head.
"Go ahead and get whatever you need. Don't worry; I'll pay for it," Aira said, showing a small black card Renji had given her.
Saki's eyes widened in amazement at the object in Aira's hand. From what she knew, black cards like that were only owned by a select few—undoubtedly the rich or the elite. For a moment, Saki felt envious of Aira for having such an extraordinary husband, someone born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
"Your expression is so funny, Saki-chan," Aira chuckled.
"How could I not be shocked seeing you holding that card?" Saki said, her face still stunned.
"This belongs to Renji-kun. He just lent it to me."
"But still, your husband is an amazing person," Saki praised.
"Really?" Aira giggled softly. "I didn't expect you to think that way about Renji," she added, still smiling.
"Of course! Your husband is truly incredible, Aira. Who would've thought your luck would turn out this good?" Saki said, a little envious but still happy for Aira, who had finally found a partner thousands of times better than Kairo, that scumbag.
Just thinking about Aira's ex-boyfriend made Saki's blood boil, especially when she remembered Maki, the man's wife. It made her furious. If she ever ran into them again, she would make sure to pay them back for how they treated Aira, especially their condescending and inconsiderate behaviour.
"You're right. I'm fortunate to have married Renji-kun," Aira agreed with Saki's opinion about her.
After finishing their shopping, they headed to the checkout to pay. Fortunately, all their purchases could be delivered directly to their home using the supermarket's delivery service. This was a big help, considering they had come here by taxi. The car in the apartment basement was a sports car with only two passenger seats. Issei didn't dare use his boss's car, even though he had permission, as he didn't want to seem presumptuous.
When Renji returns home tomorrow, Aira will ask her husband to replace his sports car with a family car so that it can fit more people and carry goods and groceries.
"I'm a little hungry. Can we stop by for a waffle?" Aira pointed to a waffle stand that was quite crowded, with people standing in line.
"Alright, but after this, we're going home and not stopping anywhere since it's getting late," Saki said, fulfilling Aira's request.
"Hmmmm...." Aira nodded obediently.
"Sit here; let me go stand in line and buy it," Issei said, asking the two of them to sit and wait while he went.
"I want a waffle with ice cream topping, Issei-kun."
"I'll have chocolate cream topping, and I'll use this to pay," Aira said as she handed her card to Issei.
"No need, let me pay and treat you," Issei politely declined, gently pushing the card Aira offered back to her.
"Then, thank you, Issei-san."
"You're welcome. Saki, please take care of Aira while I go."
"Got it, Honey," Saki replied, saluting like a subordinate to her commander.
Issei smiled briefly while patting Saki's head and then went to the waffle stand inside the mall, standing in line with the others.
While waiting, the two women chatted about everything related to life, primarily since Saki was known in the café as the most up-to-date gossipmonger, particularly about the latest celebrity gossip. However, Aira, who was her conversation partner, didn't take it too seriously, as she wasn't fond of gossip and didn't have many friends to begin with.
The atmosphere inside the mall was also quite busy, filled with people, even though it wasn't a school holiday.
Instead of Issei returning with the waffles they ordered, an uninvited guest, who was the last person they expected to see, appeared and ruined the previously peaceful atmosphere, immediately making it tense.
"Good afternoon, Mrs Aira Hoshino," Maki greeted sarcastically, refusing to acknowledge Aira's new surname after marriage; standing next to her was a red-haired girl.
"Sis, this is the woman I told you about," the girl with glasses pointed to Aira.
Saki immediately stood up from her seat, her expression clearly displeased, especially being pointed at, which was quite rude. "What do you want here, wide forehead!" Saki yelled angrily, unable to hide her dislike.
"Who do you think you're talking to?" the red-haired girl responded angrily, feeling insulted by Saki's behaviour, especially since she was speaking to Maki Kenzaki, the daughter-in-law of the prestigious Kenzaki family.
"Calm down, Yuna, don't let her words get to you. This is how uneducated girls speak," Maki sneered, smiling condescendingly at Saki.
Feeling the tension rising, Aira finally spoke up and stepped forward to face Maki, whose attitude had never changed. Maki was always looking for trouble with her. "What do you want here, Mrs. Maki Kenzaki?" Aira asked as politely as possible, hoping Maki's heart would soften and not provoke an argument again.
Maki smiled sarcastically, looking up as if belittling Aira, feeling proud of the title "Mrs. Kenzaki" she now bore. "I didn't expect you to realize your place, Aira."
Aira's hand firmly gripped Saki's wrist to stop her from stepping forward and losing control by hitting Maki, who was also pregnant like her.
"I just wanted to say hello and introduce you to Yuna Kenzaki, Renji Ishikawa's real fiancée," she proudly said.
"You!!!" Saki growled.
"Hold yourself back, Saki-chan. Let her speak as much as she wants; don't get provoked," Aira whispered as calmly as possible to her friend.
"Did you hear, Aunt? I am Renji Ishikawa's real fiancée, and I'm not lying, so don't try to make trouble with me, or my fiancé will do something to you," said the girl named Yuna, equally arrogant and proud of her status as Renji Ishikawa's fiancée, a person from a rich and respected family.
"Shut your mouth, you slut!" Saki yelled in anger, unable to tolerate her arrogance anymore.
"How dare you speak to me like that!" Yuna snapped back at Saki.
"Hold yourself, Yuna. No matter what, she will be your future sister-in-law," Maki said, trying to calm Yuna down, believing Tetsuya's words from earlier.
"What? This aunt?" Yuna pointed at Saki in disbelief.
"Yes, she's Tetsuya Ishikawa's girlfriend, Renji Ishikawa's cousin," Maki confirmed.
"Annoying! Why would someone so handsome like him be with an old woman like her? She ruins his image," Yuna complained, indirectly insulting Saki's appearance and physique, saying she wasn't on the same level as Tetsuya.
"Who would date a pale-faced person, huh!" Saki muttered angrily, frustrated that she was being seen as Tetsuya's girlfriend, her sworn enemy and a man who flirted with other people's girlfriends.
"Listen to me carefully, both of you. The woman next to me is the real wife of Renji Ishikawa, and she's even carrying his child, so stop with the nonsense. It's making me disgusted and upset."
Yuna shot a confused look at Maki. "Sister, is that true?" she asked irritably, seeking clarification.
"Calm down, Yuna, don't panic," Maki said as calmly as she could.
Maki's expression turned serious as her eyes fixed on Aira. "That marriage happened without Mr. Kaito Ishikawa's knowledge or approval, so how can it be called a marriage? Furthermore, I'm sure you haven't registered your marriage with the civil authorities, so you could say that this marriage is invalid because there's no legal protection or recognition by the state," Maki denied the legitimacy of Aira and Renji's marriage.
Aira bit her lower lip hard to stop herself from crying, but her eyes were already brimming with tears. "We have pledged to be together for life before God, and that is more sacred and important than a marriage on a piece of paper."
