Chapter 347: Chapter 169: It’s time for the much-anticipated settlement!_2

New hotel.

Nicholas had arranged the best room for the boss, quite cleverly ensuring the secretary would share a suite with him.

The newly booked hotel didn’t offer a presidential suite, and the luxury suite options were limited, having only one bedroom. Nicholas thought it wasn’t a big issue; after all, if the boss and the secretary slept in the same bed, extra bedrooms would be unnecessary.

In the luxury suite, Wayne, wrapped in a coat, sat on the sofa with his loot from this venture spread out on the table, sorting and studying them by category.

Everyone’s luggage was still waiting to be excavated from the ruins, and it was uncertain whether they could be retrieved. His and Mona’s luggage was definitely destroyed.

Wherever the Death Knight passed, no grass would grow, sparing neither underwear nor a piece of toilet paper.

Wayne couldn’t be bothered to fret; worldly possessions, he thought, as Nicholas would bring new clothes soon enough, and he absently fiddled with the finds in front of him.

It was time for the always enjoyable task of tallying up the findings!

"Hee hee hee hee———"

Mona, wrapped in a bath towel, emerged from the bathroom, barely covered below and not intending to cover at all above. Hearing the boss’s hearty laughter, she quietly approached and sat down close to him on the sofa.

"Boss, what are you looking at?"

"That’s my line, what are you doing without your clothes on?"

Wayne glanced down and saw an about-to-burst bust, replete with a tremendous sense of pressure, and the poor Crucifix pendant had sunk again.

"My luggage got destroyed; I’ve got no clothes to change into," Mona stated as if it was the most natural thing.

Her logic was sound, and Wayne couldn’t argue. A thought flashed through his mind as he controlled the Crucifix Necklace to change Mona into a conservative plaid nightgown.

Mona looked disappointed; she had anticipated a fierce battle tonight, with the master heated with passion and herself initiating a bit, likely leading to a mutual fervor.

But eating people wasn’t that easy, and she would have to fall in line!

Wayne gestured for Mona to move aside, suggesting she could have her turn once Veronica had her fill of meat, Wily had licked the rice clean, and Chris had tidied up the dining table. Then she could come and have some soup.

Mona’s affection had appeared mysteriously, her self-imagined strategy was ninety-nine percent worshipping born of faith magic.

From Wayne’s perspective, he bore no love for Mona, although he did have a favorable impression of her, but that was due to a contract; he was quite fond of the obedient and loyal black-silk-glasses female secretary.

Unbuckling his belt right now would be too scummy, akin to a priest exorcising a little boy, he mused. Better to nurture the relationship, and if it blossomed into something real, he guaranteed he wouldn’t initiate, nor would he reject, allowing her to have her way.

"Boss, what are these?" Mona hugged Wayne’s arm, her face brimming with ignorance.

Her experiences that evening had intensified her sense of crisis, the exclusive title gone, the special seat gone. If she didn’t seize this chance to be alone together, she feared she would become dispensable.

Heeding her ’own’ warning, she didn’t want to lose any of it.

Wayne tried to pull his hand away but couldn’t. Seeing Mona’s insistence, he reluctantly indulged her.

"These are good items, but their specificity is too strong, and they seem to have little use for me," Wayne said, his words laced with disappointment, but his lips inevitably curled up in a smile.

Rufullo’s gunblade had vanished along with the Mirror Space, to be precise, gone the moment they left the building.

Philomena’s Single-edged Sword was still there, of excellent quality, and could be put to use with a change of the Vest System.

Unfortunately, the magic gun was missing; nowhere to be found, presumably hidden by Philomena.

Next were the Magic Tools used to set up the Forbidden Magic Domain and the Mirror Space Projection Barrier. The two barriers had astonishing power, and after their activation, they caused significant damage to the Magic Tools. Without a wealthy background, Wayne couldn’t afford to be as reckless as the opposition.

Fortunately, he remembered the Magic Array Diagram and the setup method; he could set it up himself once he gathered the casting materials.

It was better not to mention the Mirror Space; however, the Forbidden Magic Domain was definitely a great find, particularly suitable for a Mage like him with vital physical constitution, capable of killing a group of Golden Mages with fisticuffs alone.

Having appraised the side quest loot, Wayne then turned his attention to the main task rewards.

Dragon Blood!

Fantastic stuff. Sneaking it into Veronica’s use would allow him to see her engulfed in fire once more.

Fire Elemental Ring!

To be frank, this was purely a stroke of fate that it would end up in his possession.

Moonshadow Whitebook!

An absolute treasure, split into four major parts depending on the moon’s phase: Dark Moon, Waning Moon, New Moon, Full Moon. It covered a large amount of Faith Magic and knowledge from the Moonlight Church, a perfect textbook, enough for Wayne to finish both the Silver and Gold level courses.

Being at Silver level was like being in college, and reaching Gold would surely make him a graduate student!

Considering Chris was already a graduate student, Wayne pondered going back to study ’grad-school style’ with her.

To Wayne, the Moonshadow Whitebook was the biggest win of the main mission, except for the last item which he couldn’t quite understand.

It was a manuscript stitched together from sheepskin, roughly made, with human blood used as ink to jot down chaotically ordered magical knowledge, rendering it indecipherable.

The bizarre symbols were even more puzzling, and while Wayne felt he understood them, he couldn’t translate a thing, if he had to say...

A lot of the knowledge in the book was wrong.

A single defective item amongst a group of treasures seemed unlikely, so Wayne figured he was misjudging it; his perspective wasn’t sufficient to determine the correctness of this book.

With a mindset eager to learn, Wayne revisited the sheepskin manuscript, reading every word carefully, only to shake his head after a short while.

It was not that he was nitpicking, but beyond his level of understanding, it was too full of insanities, contradictions, to the point where it didn’t even make logical sense.

"Master, Master..."

Mona’s weak voice came from beside him. When Wayne turned, he saw her pale, bloodless face, her teeth chattering, a look that didn’t seem like she was feigning distress.
