Chapter 2199.2: Emptying the Nation’s Coffers

“Come back home with me, Uncle Wu. You can hardly absolve yourself from blame when people discovery the robbery and will be dragged into the mess,” Lu Yun said to Wu Wei when he stowed the sword pagoda.

The man recomposed himself upon seeing his young master put the spatial treasure away. “That is just as well. There are too many powerhouses in the palace right now and I might be exposed if I stay here.”

It wasn’t that he was afraid of death, but that plans of a hundred years might be exposed if someone detected his presence.

A yellow haze rose from Lu Yun’s body and enveloped the two. They vanished from view, leaving just as quickly as Lu Yun had arrived with none the wiser. The young man was much more confident after obtaining the contents of the nation’s vaults. He had more than one hundred million paramount rank spirit stones on him at the moment, which was sufficient to deploy the forge’s might.

……

The second day, the Yuwen Clan.

The Yuwen Clan was now Darklake’s foremost clan. Although its trading company had been smashed in, they’d already announced that they would punish the Lu Clan for the transgression.

A tense atmosphere descended over the capital as everyone knew tumultuous times were creeping into the city. This would shuffle the members of the ruling echelon.

BOOM!

Yuwen cultivators awoke from a night of cultivation when a loud noise sounded from their front door. Someone had kicked it open and reduced it to a pile of shards.

“Get out here, Yuwen trash!” Lu Yun shouted as he planted himself in the doorway.

“What kind of cretin dares cause trouble at the Yuwen Clan!” A dignified voice responded from the depths of the complex, followed by the aura of a soul projection cultivator.

“You’re only showing part of yourself!” Golden light sparkled in Lu Yun’s eye; he picked out a skinny elder quietly meditating on a seat cushion in an unremarkable house located in the backyard. The elder’s aura was as deep and unfathomable as the sea—it was the true immortal in residence at the Yuwens’.

However, given that the heavenly book was yet to become entirely ineffective, the true immortal could not act as he wishedl since he was metaphorically hobbled. Regardless, his consciousness was locked onto Lu Yun and scanning the young man like it was a pair of physical eyes. He wanted to glean everything possible about the Lu young master.

Lu Yun had only been seventh level qi refinement a year ago, but advanced rapidly during this time to mid nascent soul. This kind of cultivation speed was incredible! Not even the greatest genius could cross three major cultivation stages within a year and have perfectly solid foundations to show for it.

Lu Yun wasn’t bothering to hide anything at this point—both sides showed their hands. They’d completed their preparations and accomplished what they should’ve done before this meeting. This was Lu Yun’s first official clash with the Origin Sect.

He couldn’t be bothered to exchange further words and punched forward, leaving a massive shadow of a fist in the void.

Bam!

A soul projection powerhouse hidden elsewhere was thrown out of hiding.

“An old fart of the Yuwen Clan?” The young man indifferently picked the elder up like he grasped a chick.

Dumbfounded, the elder hadn’t anticipated that he wouldn’t last even one move before being captured. Regardless, he remained composed. As strong as the Lu young master was, was he stronger than an immortal?

“Heh heh, don’t you know that death is coming for you Lus?” leered the soul projection elder.

Crunch!

Lu Yun still couldn’t be bothered with words and crushed the man’s neck, forcing out the elder’s nascent soul. He threw it into the sword pagoda for safekeeping. Tian Shanhe alone was insufficient to look after the Lu herb garden. The man needed a few more nascent soul helpers.

Yuwen cultivators streamed in from all parts of the residence.

“How dare you kill our people in our home, Lu Yun?! Do you want the Lus to go extinct?!” Current patriarch Yuwen Yang twitched when he saw the elder’s corpse.

“Hahaha!! This young master is here to have some fun killing today!” Lu Yun emitted a long peal of laughter and abruptly summoned Immortals Forbidden into his hand. Wrapping himself with rays of sword light, he rushed the Yuwen cultivators.

“DIE!!” The two remaining soul projection cultivators of the family quickly answered in kind and threw their treasures at the young man.

The initial and mid soul projection opponents were nothing to Lu Yun. He twisted in the air while crimson sword light flared, smashing the two paramount rank treasures to pieces.

A cultivator’s treasure was closely connected to their heart and mind, so the two soul projection heavyweights immediately spat out blood. They swiftly disintegrated into a bloody mist, leaving their nascent souls for Lu Yun to connect.

The Eighteen Cerulean Sword Dragons then howled through the area as Lu Yun twisted eighteen times in the air. The illustrious Yuwen Clan’s main hall swiftly turned into a pile of rubble while more than one hundred Yuwen cultivators died.

Lu Yun was no soft-hearted character. He’d come to kill, so why should he show mercy to an opponent who’d become his nemsis?

The grand complex turned into the slaughter fields within the blink of an eye. While the Yuwen Clan had long taken note of Lu Yun and made their preparations accordingly, they hadn’t thought that Lu Yun would come so quickly and act so decisively. They weren’t given a single chance to breathe!

Yuwen Zhi died yesterday. The Yuwen, Zhao, and Yu alliance was also defused yesterday. And today, Lu Yun was on their doorstep!

The young man ignored the true immortal hiding in the Yuwen background. He rushed into the heart of their compound with just himself and his sword.

Rumble!

Lu Yun hacked through the Yuwen defensive formation the moment it rose, breaking into the ground to enter a secret room.

Yu Shuai and Zhao Chenguang barely looked human. Their cultivation was restricted and all of their bones and meridians broken. They’d plainly been tortured and interrogated before this.

The two young masters had advanced with stunning speed, and while they kept low profiles, they could not hoodwink soul projection powerhouses. When those heavyweights returned to the capital, Yu Shuai and Zhao Chenguang were immediately exposed.

“I’ve caused you guys massive trouble this time.” Lu Yun took out two pills from his storage and shoved them into his friends’ mouths. Their bones and meridians reformed amid a series of pops and crackles.

“Not at all, we’re brothers!” Yu Shuai breathed out with relief. “If it wasn’t for you, we’d never form a golden core with our potential.”

“Don’t show any mercy to these Yuwen bastards!” Zhao Chenguang snarled. “But we didn’t give you up either. We didn’t reveal anything about what you gave us!”

Lu Yun smiled. “It wouldn’t have mattered if you did. Those things were tailor-made for you guys so even if other people took them, they wouldn’t be of any use.

“Alright, let’s go.” Lu Yun got to his feet. “There will be no more Yuwens in this world after today.”

“Good!” Savage glee dawned on Yu Shuai and Zhao Chenguang’s faces. They were rascals at heart and took revenge for every slight. How would they not seek vengeance after being tortured so badly?

“Heh heh heh heh heh, I’m afraid you won’t see the end of the Yuwens, if that even happens.” A cold sneer echoed through the air as the secret room quaked. Terrifying energy of heaven descended to crush the inhabitants.

“A seventh rank formation!” Lu Yun raised a brow. Now this was unexpected, but wholly unsurprising.

Rumble!

A void of hazy gray replaced the secret room vanished. Seventh rank formations were high level formations. The five elements were complete within this one and formed their own internal space.

Killing intent abounded inside, the dangers within were more pronounced than the ninth rank Nineheavens Brahman Formation. One single soul projection cultivator had directed the latter formation, whereas a dozen soul projection and a soul separation heavyweight powered the one they were caught in. It was naturally much stronger.

Thirty percent of this seventh rank formation was already brought to bear. On the other hand, less than one percent of the Nineheavens Brahman Formation had been in play that day.

“Lu Yun, you brat. Just the likes of you wish to destroy my clan?! The ones who came before were just Ling idiots and discardable Yuwen pawns. The clan’s strength is completely undiminished!

“We knew you'd come to save these two pieces of filth, so we set up a trap ahead of time!” As foreboding as the speaker’s tone was, he was hardly speaking the truth. Lu Yun had already killed quite a number of important Yuwen family members and even slain their previous patriarch.

The young man had come too quickly and caught them off guard.
