Chapter 2200.2: Slaying An Immortal

“Blast it, a thunder tribulation from the heavenly book!” howled the immortal as his white robes started to get singed. Any foreign immortal who visited the Jade Ruins Realm and engaged in a fight would be punished by the heavenly book. Offenders were sentenced to death by the treasure, so very few immortals were willing to come to worlds of cultivation.

However, the heavenly book’s hold over the Jade Ruins Realm had been infinitely diminished and was about to vanish. Its suppression of immortals at the moment was almost negligible, so the might it released was insufficient to kill a true immortal.

Despite that, its vast and unbounded power wasn’t something that an immortal could endure—despite being incredibly weakened. Thus, the immortal was blasted straight underground.

“What a pity.” Terra Demon and the gray jiao hovered over the immortal, slightly saddened looks appearing in their eyes. If they’d taken a few more blows, they might’ve fully refined the profound meaning accumulated in their body. Their chance was at an end since the tribulation had arrived.

Kaboom!

The immortal was blasted underground by another bolt of lightning as soon as he crawled out of the hole.

“Break!!” Orange light shifted over the immortal’s body as he stood up to the next bolt of lightning and threw out his hammers, aiming for the tribulation cloud.

Boom!

Terra Demon and the gray jiao’s attacks arrived just as the immortal beat back the cloud. Terra Demon didn’t bother with any weapons as energy from the environment was his best weapon. He shifted into a massive being three hundred meters tall, black light sparkling over his fist. He, too, punched the immortal into the ground, just as the thunder tribulation had just done.

The gray jiao expanded to three thousand meters long as well and spewed out black lightning, raining electricity down on the immortal stuck in the ground.

“AHHHHH!!! DIE!!” shrieked the immortal. He was now embedded in bedrock and could not move. The bright yellow hammers that were about to fly back to his hand were halted by a black tower, confiscated before they could erupt with power.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh!

The inert ray of sword qi in the center of the sword pagoda shifted to motion when the hammers entered the treasure. Rays of keen sword qi erupted, churning the hammers to pieces so that their core essence could be absorbed by the sword pagoda.

This subsequent development was entirely out of Lu Yun’s expectations, and he discovered a hint of spirit rippling across the ray of sword qi after it swallowed the other two treasures.

“That’s… the Sword of Heaven and Earth…” Lu Yun suddenly recognized the sword shadow. It was… very unfamiliar as it seemed to both be his and not be his. The sealed version of him seemed to have once refined and assimilated it, and then… he knew not what came after.

“Augh!” The immortal spat out a mouthful of pale-gold blood. “You, you destroyed my Goldflash Hammers! I, Lu Youya, will hunt you to the ends of the world for this!”

BOOM!

He bit through the tip of his tongue and spat out blood essence, breaking free from the attacks raining down on him and rushing up from the ground. The immortal was a far cry from his previously composed self.

His white robes were muddy, tattered, and barely keeping him covered. A neat bun of white hair now looked more like a bird’s nest; wisps of blue smoke rose from it. He dodged the next bolt of tribulation lightning and rapidly formed hand seals, then crossed his arms in front of his chest.

Hum hum hum hum hum!

Energy of heaven and earth surged to him from all directions while a massive shadow of a wolf’s head looked out behind him.

“Moun—tain Brea—ker!!” Terra Demon greeted the wolf’s head with solemnity. He immediately rushed to Lu Youya and erupted with terrifying power from his fist. The shadow of a massive mountain formed in the void and loomed over the immortal.

“Awooo!” The enormous wolf head seemed to come alive and opened wide, swallowing the power of Terra Demon’s punch.

“The Greedy Wolf Star of the Greedy Wolf Immortal King!” Lu Yun frowned tightly, never imagining that he’d see the ultimate move from the central immortal emperor’s Greedy Wolf Immortal King. He took out the Forge of Heaven and Earth and threw it at Lu Youya.

The forge rapidly ballooned in the void until it was three hundred meters tall. Shortly afterwards, a massive curtain of light erupted from the forge and enveloped the immortal within. One hundred million paramount spirit stones blazed inside, fully powering the Nineheavens Brahman Formation.

A ninth rank formation was able to bring its complete capabilities to bear when one hundred million spirit stones were consumed for it.

“Terra Demon, gray jiao, look after the formation!” Lu Yun shouted.

The Forge of Heaven and Earth could only activate the formation for a split second. One hundred million paramount stones could bring its full power to bear for only a few breaths. After that, the formation would return to the forge given the lack of further qi supporting it.

A ninth rank formation simply required too much energy. If it was one hundred million paramount spirit crystals on the other hand, that would power the formation without end. Currently, the ninth rank formation required cultivators to oversee it so that it could deploy the might it possessed.

The gray jiao and Terra Demon took control of the formation without hesitation. Their combined battle strength could severely injure and even triumph over the immortal, but they could not prevent him from escaping. Only the formation could trap someone of this caliber.

The gray jiao and Terra Demon were on par with true immortals. They easily maintained a ninth rank formation.

“Nineheavens Brahman Fire?!” Lu Youya gasped to see several hundred crimson dragons circling around him. The Greedy Wolf Star over his head also howled with agony.

Nineheavens Brahman Fire was one of the rare fires of the world. Though its ranking wasn’t high, it was extraordinarily terrifying. The Nineheavens Brahman Formation could summon said fire from the void and form Brahman dragons. Given enough time, this fire could refine even true immortals.

“It’d be worth it even if I have to spend ten years refining this immortal, but I don’t have that much time right now.” A jade-green bow rested in Lu Yun’s hand. When he pulled back on it and deployed the Connate Great Dao of the Five Elements in conjunction, connate wood energy rolled in from the east. It formed a jade-green arrow between bow and string.

Color drained from the young man’s face as all of the Hongmeng qi in his body was consumed by the bow when the connate word energy gathered.

Whoosh!

The bowstring released the second he was devoid of energy, sending the arrow of wood energy flying into the Nineheavens Brahman Formation like a meteor.

Pfft!

Lu Youya was pierced through.

The moment his enemy fell, Lu Yun sagged to the ground like a kite with its strings cut. What kind of treasure was the jade-green bow? It took all of his Hongmeng qi and the remaining goodwill in the Seal of the Multitude to fire it just once!

The skies and earth darkened when the arrow shot out, as if all of the killing intent beneath the heavens gathered on it. This arrow of connate wood energy was far superior to the one that Yuwen Zhuifeng had fired. Their difference was so great it was as if a firefly compared to the moon.

The arrow of light seemed both tangible and formless, wavering without a set trajectory. Its terrifying presence locked on to the immortal and a gaping hole split his chest in less than one thousandth of a breath. His heart and lungs were completely obliterated.

“AHHHH!!” Lu Youya howled at the sky, never imagining that he’d die in a low level world of cultivation, and in one of its low level cultivation empires at that!

He realized the moment the arrow pierced his body that there was no hope of survival.

BOOM!

Nine hundred and ninety-nine crimson dragons snarled in the Nineheavens Brahman Formation. Brahman fire roared with thunder, breaking through all of the immortals’ defensive treasures.

“I’m taking you down with me!!” Lu Youya screamed. His body exploded into an entity of orange energy that wrapped tightly around a golden nascent soul, cocooning it with protection. No matter how the dragons charged, they couldn’t break through the incredible depth of the power.

“He wants to detonate his immortal light to break the formation!” Terra Demon looked on solemnly. Immortal light was the core essence of an immortal that appeared when one reached immortality. It was a powerful weapon in itself.
