Chapter 2215.2: Where Immortals Are Buried

Immortal Burial Valley was confirmed by the Human Emperor to contain more treasures than the Celestial Realm Battlefront. There were barely any left in the latter after countless eons of excavation.

As maddened as the cultivators were, the vicious spirits were ten times more berserk. Bloody light streaked by, ripping through cultivators in their way. Not even awakened cultivators could withstand the spirits.

Thankfully, there were only one thousand spirits. While they wished to stop all of the cultivators, many out of the twenty thousand still made it inside. Of course, even more were those who were assimilated by the vicious spirits.

The new converts weren’t as savage as the spirits with blood-red skin. In the blink of an eye, more than five thousand cultivators were transformed into attacking their own kind.

……

Lu Yun’s body slowly manifested inside the place of burial.

“So this is what’s inside?” He assessed the surroundings with the Eye of Nullification.

The heart of Immortal Burial Valley was a massive space one hundred kilometers wide. Broken slabs and cliff faces could be seen everywhere, as if a great battle had once taken place here.

Countless vicious spirits dwelled here before, but the Human Emperor had cleansed the place with the Sword of Chaos. The few that remained must have been left behind on purpose.

Lu Yun wasn’t the first one inside—a dozen cultivators beat him to the punch. Everyone split up as soon as they made it in and went off in search of their own fortune.

Ling Chu, Ling Ling, Song Yi, and Shi Jian successfully found their way inside. They remained in a group and set off in a certain direction.

Lu Yun was in no hurry. This place seemed much more complicated than he’d imagined.

“Where did the pills and treasures erupting from the valley come from?” He frowned and swept the Eye of Nullification over the place again and again, wanting to find some clues.

This place formed its own void, but it wasn’t a seed storage formation. It was a seed storage locale, a true minor world much more sophisticated than any seed storage.

He’d once owned such a place in his three thousand lifetimes—his residence, the Northern Sky Palace.

As more cultivators entered and some followed by some vicious spirits, Lu Yun chose a certain direction and flew away.

“If I’m seeing things correctly, this used to be a cluster of palaces. Everything’s been destroyed though. …eh?” He halted in front of a massive palace. It, too, had been destroyed by massive external force and the protective restriction outside it laid in tattered pieces.

A dozen cultivators attacked the faltering restriction.

“A soul projection cultivator? How lucky you are!” Contempt curved the lips of a combination cultivator. “You, come here!” He pointed imperiously at Lu Yun. “There’s a gap there, go inside and see what’s there!”

The young man followed his finger and saw a gap one meter wide and two meters tall. There was a pool of blood outside of it and some fragments of a body. It would seem that someone had already tried entering, but had been churned to pieces by the restriction.

Golden light flashed through Lu Yun’s eyes, clearly identifying that apart from some ruins, there was nothing else inside the palace. It was empty.

“Hmph,” he snorted and circled around, wanting to fly elsewhere.

“Didn’t you hear him, kid?!” An initial soul separation cultivator stood in front of him and spat at the young man.

Lu Yun couldn’t be bothered. He answered with a flash from Immortals Forbidden.

The soul separation cultivator didn’t have time to react before the stroke cut his body into two. A pale-golden nascent soul was smashed to pieces as soon as it revealed itself.

“You’re weaker than Ouyang Shengtian, so how dare you strut around in front of this young master?” Lu Yun curled his lip.

While Ouyang Shengtian was also initial soul separation, he possessed the full experience of a Great Xia wandering cultivator. His true battle strength was no less than peak latter soul separation.

If Lu Yun could defeat even Ouyang Shengtian, he naturally thought nothing of an initial soul separation opponent.

The cultivators gathered around the palace shuddered. Not even a combination cultivator could slay an initial soul separation cultivation in one second! Everyone watched Lu Yun leave; no one dared step in his way.

“Wauuuuugh!” A piercing shriek entered Lu Yun’s ears not long after he left the group. A scarlet vicious spirit was surrounded by a group of cultivators.

“So there are indeed vicious spirits here!” Lu Yun remained hidden in the dark. Those attacking the vicious spirit were quite strong—a sign they came from Great Xia. It was no trouble for them to take down the spirit.

Just as he was about to back away, brilliant purple splendor brewed beneath his feet and a fragrant pill fragrance burrowed into his nose.

“Seventh rank immortal pill, the Unselfish Hateless Pill!” Lu Yun brightened and grabbed the purple ray of brilliance. An immortal pill of purple and gold appeared in his hand.

The Unselfish Hateless Pill was a paramount treasure amongst seventh rank pills. Whether immortal or cultivator, anyone who took it would advance one major stage in cultivation.

True immortals who fully refined it would immediately break through to august immortal. The pill’s effects were gentle and mild. Despite being a seventh rank immortal pill, it was one that even cultivators could endure.

However, it was very complicated to refine this precious pill. Ordinary cultivators who were fortunate enough to obtain one usually chose to take it after reaching immortality.

“An immortal pill!”

“An upper rank immortal pill!” The cultivators mobbing the vicious spirit instantly dropped their quarry and rushed for Lu Yun. When the spirit lost its target, it also came in howling pursuit.

“Tsk tsk tsk.” Lu Yun chuckled and turned away.

The seven cultivators were all combination stage. Since they came from Great Xia, they were heads and shoulders above the country bumpkins of the worlds of cultivation.

Lu Yun was just initial soul projection and had a chance of triumphing over others from worlds of cultivation. Against Great Xia cultivators, however, he didn’t wish to give rise to any other problems. He raised a ray of sword light without any hesitation and fled for the inner depths of the place of burial.

The seven gave furious chase since the young man had taken the immortal pill.

“So fast!” Their leader was a woman in a red silk dress. Other thoughts began to cross her mind when she saw an initial soul projection match them in speed.

“Big sis, this person’s probably from the Great Xia Dao Academy. We can’t afford to provoke him!” said a much younger girl behind her who was dressed in the same fashion.

The others began to slow down, but reluctance shone in their eyes.

“This is Immortal Burial Valley—even Dao Academy disciples might possibly die here. Who’ll know that we’re the ones who killed him?” complained an initial combination man.

The others wavered upon hearing him and looked at the woman in the red silk dress.

“We chase!” She set her jaw. “That immortal pill is obviously a high level immortal pill. If we get it, we’ll soar to the heavens and not have to worry about our tribulations if we have sufficient cultivation materials!”

The seven were siblings and three were peak combination stage. They weren’t confident enough in their abilities to set foot into tribulation stage—that was a unique cultivation realm. There, cultivators needed to be constantly on guard against a heavenly tribulation. Anyone in this stage needed to endure three total tribulations before being deemed as successfully passing the test. Those who failed were scattered upon the wind.

Awakened stage was the beginning of a transformation. The consciousness transformed into an immortal consciousness, the nascent soul into an immortal soul, and true origin into immortal origin.

After those three steps came the immortal tribulation. When one transformed one’s body into an immortal body through the tribulation, that completed the process and left the cultivator as an empyrean immortal.

Tribulation stage was the most dangerous for cultivators as the immortal tribulation was more like a heavenly favor bestowed upon cultivators. Tribulation stage was entirely a trial of death.

For peak geniuses such as Gui Xie and Bloodbath, tribulation stage was further trial and tempering. They were not afraid of it and naturally entered tribulation stage once they reached a sufficient cultivation level.

In worlds of cultivation, cultivators who survived a heavenly tribulation were one in a million. Even the more humble of cultivators in Great Xia ran a high risk of dying if they faced a tribulation.

“After him!” Sword light expanded a hundred meters long once the seven received approval from their elder sister; they were more than twice as fast compared to before.

“Obtaining an immortal pill and exchanging it for resources will ensure that big sis makes it past tribulation stage. When she’s an immortal, that’s hope for us all!” murmured an honest-looking man among the seven as he thought rapidly about the future.

“Those seven are surprisingly annoying.” Lu Yun flicked a glance behind him and frowned, he didn’t want to be entangled with these people. Others would sense something amiss if the situation dragged on and he’d be in great trouble if more joined the chase.

Thus, he deployed the Nine Forms of the Cloud Dragon and transformed into various images, vanishing in the blink of an eye.

The siblings’ jaws dropped when Lu Yun disappeared in front of their eyes.
