Nightmare Assault-Chapter 370: Tunnel
Chapter 370: Tunnel
Everyone instantly turned to Chen Yi. Chu Jiu’s lips trembled. She failed to formulate a sentence for a long time. Chen Yi was seated and remained the calmest. Actually, when she felt discomfort around her shoulders, she began to suspect something was amiss. The confirmation came when they travelled to the hospital. She glanced at the taxi’s rearview mirror and saw two slender legs astride her shoulders.
They were female legs with bruises. They were similar to the ones she saw the night before. As she bent over, the model called Yu Youwei climbed on her back and rode on her shoulders. Due to the angle, she couldn’t see her face… provided she had one.
In any case, it was too late to say anything. However, even Chen Yi didn’t expect herself to be so calm. “What happened after that?” She looked at the fat nurse and said evenly.
The nurse felt the change in the atmosphere, but she didn’t dwell on it. Perhaps they were frightened. She continued, “Then, the woman was taken away by her friends. There was a huge commotion. She lay on the ground and was dragged out. Many people saw it.” The nurse sighed, “You know what happened after that. The police came a few days after. We knew from the officers that she had passed away.”
“Was it you who mailed Yu Youwei’s health check form to her residence?” Jiang Cheng asked. Earlier, the nurse saw the form Wan Xiaoning was holding.
“I mailed it personally.” The nurse nodded. “It was one of Yu Youwei’s friends who requested it. A few of the test results wouldn’t show up instantly, but they refused to wait. Therefore, they left me their phone numbers and addresses. They told me to mail the form to the address when all the results were out.” The nurse scratched her head in thought. “I remember the friend was a girl too… What was her name again?”
“Song Jianyou,” Banana Wolf offered.
“That’s right!” The nurse smacked her leg. “That’s her name. It was on the tip of my tongue! I even told the officer who came to the hospital about it!” The nurse added softly when she realised Jiang Cheng was glaring at her.
Chen Yi nodded. “Don’t worry. We’re here to ask some questions to clarify the issue.”
“Understood.” The nurse nodded cooperatively.
“Other than Yu Youwei and Song Jianyou, were there others with them?”
“Yes.” The nurse confirmed, “There were five of them, two guys and three girls. Thankfully, they all came, or else I didn’t think they could carry her out.”
The nurse thought about it before standing up and walking to her desk. She called someone on her phone and then returned with a name.
“Lee Maoshen?” Banana Wolf raised his brow.
“Yes.” The nurse nodded. “Back then, the man was taking a video on his phone. He warned us to keep this incident quiet, or he’d expose us for invading their privacy. He claimed to be an influencer with many fans.
“Later, one of our younger residents found his account. He was someone who was famous for shorts.” The nurse swallowed and lowered her voice, “His shorts were related to the supernatural.”
“What is the name of his account?” Wan Xiaoning leaned forward.
The nurse hesitated. “I checked his account again, but it has already been banned. You cannot find anything anymore.”
Everyone looked regretful. From what they knew, the source could be related to Lee Maoshen’s supernatural videos. If they could find the source, things would be easier.
Inside the ring found by Hua Luo, there was the inscription "Shen loves Wei." That should be Lee Maoshen and Yu Youwei. They should be lovers. All the ghosts knew each other when they were alive. They should be killed by the same ghost.
Jiang Cheng noticed the camera in the hospital corridor. He asked to see the records. The fat nurse shook her head, claiming the files had been taken by the police. That was all the clue so it was pointless to stay. The travellers stood up to leave but Chen Yi remained unmoved in her chair. Her face was unreadable, but her body shook imperceptibly.
They found an excuse to send the fat nurse away. Jiang Cheng knelt down before Chen Yi. He asked gently, “Can you hold on?”
Chen Yi raised her eyes and avoided everyone. She glanced at the mirror placed not far away. It was quite small. It hung outside a deep green iron locker. It was probably there for the staff.
In the mirror, a headless woman sat on Chen Yi’s shoulders.
In the cab, the trees flew by. Chu Jiu’s face was tense as she sat in the passenger’s seat. Chen Yi and Jiang Cheng sat at the back. Fatty wanted to join them, but Jiang Cheng denied him.
Chen Yi’s face was frighteningly pale. Her tall body was curled up. There was even the sound of her spine cracking.
“Hold on a little longer.” Jiang Cheng whispered, “It’ll be better when we’re home. So far, no one has died in their rooms.”
Chen Yi was so weak that she could barely speak. She swayed and fell to the left. Jiang Cheng subconsciously wanted to move away, but he was too slow. Chen Yi’s head landed on his shoulder. The force caused Jiang Cheng to frown. After some hesitation, he didn’t push the poor woman away. She was about to die.
Through the rear-view mirror, he saw that the ghost on her shoulders was getting completed. She had gained a chin. Above the chin was a dark red lip.
When the ghost fully materialised, Chen Yi would die.
At that moment, the car became dark.
“What’s going on?” Chu Jiu demanded with some hysteria. “Who told you to drive into the tunnel?!”
Tunnel…
Jiang Cheng glanced ahead with alarm.
Then, the driver’s voice came. He sounded wrong. “I saw that you’re in a hurry. I thought… to take a shortcut.”
