No Trespassing! My Aloof Brother-Chapter 30 - 28: Sorry
Chapter 30: Chapter 28: Sorry
Maya Spencer wanted to rebel against her grandfather and cancel her tutoring, but she knew that if she really went against him, she probably wouldn’t be able to stay at the Spencer Family’s villa. If that happened, finding out the truth about her mother’s death would be even harder.
So, she braced herself, clutching her backpack, pretending nothing had happened, and knocked on Liam Spencer’s door.
When she walked into the study, Liam was on the phone in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, his back to her, seemingly oblivious to her presence.
Maya looked at his silhouette and saw a bandage wrapped around his neck.
Then she walked into the study on her own, sat down at the desk, and started flipping through her textbooks.
Thinking about how she had misunderstood him today, slapped him, and even bit his neck.
Maya felt uneasy and guilty; it was the first time she had felt this way.
A moment later, Liam hung up the phone, turned to his right, and walked towards the bedroom without even glancing at someone, clearly angry, not wanting to deal with Maya.
Watching the man’s back move away from her, Maya suddenly stood up from the chair and said, "About this morning, I’m sorry for misunderstanding you."
She never expected to be the one to apologize to Liam.
Listening to her apology, Liam was somewhat surprised, pausing for a moment, although just briefly, less than a second, and continued walking towards the bedroom.
It seemed he didn’t plan to tutor her today.
Seeing the man not respond, Maya took a deep breath, quickly stepped away from the desk, caught up with Liam, and grabbed his arm.
"I’m apologizing to you."
The man shrugged off her hand, ignoring her, clearly disdainful of her apology.
Maya was stubborn; whatever she wanted to do, she had to see it through. She had apologized to him, so there was no reason for him not to accept it.
So she positioned herself in front of Liam and said earnestly, "I smacked your ear, you can return it."
As soon as she finished speaking, she grabbed Liam’s hand and struck her own cheek.
Her skin was delicate and tender, the touch particularly smooth and soft, very pleasant, and susceptible to leaving a mark.
Even though she was the one holding Liam’s hand to make him hit her, her cheek still turned red.
However, facing Maya’s admission of fault, someone simply didn’t believe it, thinking she was plotting again. He glanced at her coldly, sarcastically: "Had enough? Are you trying to use a trick to get my attention now? You sure have a lot of tricks."
Maya, always proud, had almost never said sorry to anyone; today she was possessed by some spirit to apologize uncontrollably to someone.
What embarrassed her was that he still ignored her and distorted her intentions.
She was displeased, frowning, solemnly explaining, "I’m not as complicated as you think; I’m clear about right and wrong, and today I was wrong. I’m apologizing to you."
"Apology? Haha! That? Who is ’that’?" Liam felt the girl’s awkwardness lacked manners.
At this point, Maya realized he minded the term she used to address him. Looking back, it seemed quite insincere.
But she could only blame the distance between them for not knowing what to call him—third young master, Principal Spencer, BOSS, President Spencer, or perhaps Third Brother?
These titles were all awkward, making her feel even more embarrassed.
Maya felt differently toward the man in front of her compared to other members of the Spencer family; maybe because he had saved her a few times, she was willing to bow down and admit her mistake to him.
Watching him push her away again, walking forward as if she weren’t there, Maya hesitated behind him, holding her breath.
Then she chased after him again, grabbing him.
She held his arm with both hands, making him stand in place, and she took two steps back, bending at a ninety-degree angle, sincerely apologizing.
"Third Brother, what happened this morning was Maya’s misunderstanding, I’m sorry!"
Maya’s repeated apologies moved Liam’s cold heart to some extent, also making him feel that tonight she was different than usual, at least much calmer.
Thus, he stood hesitantly, watching the girl, not knowing what to do, unsure whether to leave or stay.
Maya looked at the man’s puzzled expression, noticing the bandage on his neck, took a deep breath, and suddenly jumped up, hooking her right hand around the man’s neck, pulling him down to let his lips brush against her neck.
She said, "I bit you once, you can bite back."
Maya had always disliked owing people favors; with her current situation, she couldn’t repay the kindness others showed her, but she could bear the consequences of her mistakes.
"Pfft!" Liam was amused by her actions, his breath hot against her neck.
Just a second ago, he was as aloof as ever; the next second he couldn’t help but laugh, even he hadn’t expected it himself.
After laughing, he instinctively raised his head, immediately reverting to his usual indifference.
Maya looked at Liam, whose expressions changed as quickly as the weather, squinting slightly, tilting her head, staring at him, nodding gently: "You laughed! Laughing means you’re not angry anymore, and not angry means we can start tutoring!"
When the man laughed, Maya’s mood inexplicably improved as well, even her speaking tone relaxed considerably.
Maya’s melted iceberg softened, provoking the other iceberg to melt as well, but he still remained reserved, skirting around Maya, continuing to walk inside.
Seeing that he was still unyielding, Maya grabbed his arm again and said: "Since you’re staying at the Spencer Family, it means you still care about grandfather, so keep your promise to him!"
She dared not offend her grandfather! And he didn’t want to either! At least they still had a unified front.
Finally, Liam compromised and temporarily put aside what happened this morning.
Half an hour later, the draft paper on the desk was filled with Liam’s pages, and he was already dry-mouthed, almost exhausted of patience.
He asked, "Did you understand the similar type of questions?"
"I think I did."
"Maya Spencer, what do you mean ’think you did’? You must understand."
"Oh! Okay!" she responded perfunctorily.
However, her mind wasn’t on studying at all; no matter what Liam said, she responded insincerely because thoughts of that night occupied her head, memories of him kissing her and touching her.
Moreover, now that he was so close, she could smell his fragrance. He spoke more softly than usual, making her awkward; they were more suited to a mode of mutual harshness.
So she said, "Let Elijah Reed teach me!"
The girl’s embarrassment was already apparent to Liam, knowing that the incident from that night was on her mind; such ambiguity between siblings was indeed inappropriate.
