Chapter 40: Chapter 38: Shameless or Not

At this moment, Maya Spencer realized she had set herself up.

She rolled her eyes at Liam Spencer, stretched her legs, did some pre-run warm-ups, and then dashed toward the finish line, but no matter how hard she tried, her speed didn’t improve.

She shook her legs, rested briefly, and then started running toward Liam again.

Liam watched the girl charging at him, a slight twitch in the corner of his mouth, as if saying, if you’re going to train, I’ll train with you properly.

"Not good, 22 seconds, too slow."

"How about you chase me from behind, that way, I’d have more motivation."

"Don’t even think about it, keep running."

After a few back-and-forths, Maya was exhausted, gasping for breath, bent over with her hands on her knees, while Liam was still urging her: "Continue, control your breathing evenly, increase lung capacity."

"Bastard," she muttered under her breath, but he heard it and kicked her on the butt.

Maya was already very tired, and after he kicked her, she stumbled and fell face down to the ground.

This time, Maya exploded, quickly got up from the ground, and lunged at the man, her little fists pounding on his chest in retaliation, but it looked more like she was being playful.

Liam was annoyed by her hitting, grabbed her hands, stared into her eyes, and scolded her disdainfully, "Have you had enough of this?"

He didn’t mean to kick her hard, nor did he expect her to fall so badly; looking at her dramatic display, he felt he had been too lenient with her, letting her take advantage of the situation.

"Can’t you just leave me alone?" Maya glared back at him with big eyes, angrily retorting.

Seeing her like that, and noticing the mark on her neck hadn’t completely disappeared, suddenly he couldn’t be harsh on her. He still remembered the mark he left behind, more of a love bite than a bite mark.

"Third Brother, can I train with Maya?" Just when the two were in a deadlock, Elia Spencer suddenly appeared on the basketball court.

Liam, seeing this, hurriedly released the hand holding Maya’s wrist and pushed her aside, glanced at her, and left the basketball court without looking back.

He had no interest in being a personal coach for these two annoying sisters.

Elia glanced at her Third Brother as he brushed past her, then looked at the Little Demon not far away, her lips curling up into a sneering smile. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Earlier, she had heard in the classroom that the principal was helping Maya train for her physical ed class, so she rushed over immediately.

She knew Liam didn’t like her, yet she intentionally came over to annoy him, the purpose being to prevent certain someone from training properly, thinking about catching up with her grades? Don’t even think about it. Even if it’s just ’Physical Ed,’ she wouldn’t let her surpass her.

After confirming that Liam had completely walked away, Elia walked step by step toward the center of the court, sizing Maya up from head to toe, mocking her.

"Maya, do you really think you can catch up with me?"

Maya listened to the mockery, rolled her eyes at her, ignored her, and started walking out of the court.

"Maya, do you think you’ve turned the tables? Do you think Grandpa cares about you? You’re just a pawn of Grandpa’s, dragging Third Brother down, yet you really take yourself seriously."

Seeing Maya’s arrogance, Elia was furious, almost wanting to tear her face apart, but Hannah had told her not to act impulsively during this time, that Maya wouldn’t be able to turn things around.

Yet she still worried! Worried that under her Third Brother’s guidance, Maya would indeed catch up with her, and in that case, Grandpa might actually favor her, and lately, Big Sister and Dad were clearly protecting her, which made her feel even more uncomfortable.

She simply couldn’t stand Maya, couldn’t stand her clinging to Third Brother and Big Sister, couldn’t stand her slowly taking over everything that belonged to her, including Henry Reid.

So, she sought her out, intentionally provoking her, making her realize her position, making her understand that in the Spencer Family, she’s nothing but a pawn to everyone.

However, all these words had no effect on Maya. She continued doing what she needed to do, running home from school.

In the evening, carrying her backpack, she went directly to Liam’s study, even though she knew he didn’t want to see her, but with Grandpa’s order, she just needed to carry it out.

At the desk, Maya, sore all over, lay like a boneless snake on the desk, listlessly flipping through her textbooks.

Liam watched her lazy demeanor, getting irritated, itching to drag her out.

So, he approached the desk, lifted her up, tossed her aside, sat down on the chair himself, and opened her textbook.

Seeing this, Maya was displeased, reaching out to tug at him, trying to reclaim her spot, but the man remained unmoved, utterly unfazed by her.

Eventually, she straightforwardly sat on his lap, saying, "In that case, let’s sit together."

"Have you no shame?"

"Let’s start from here today, I don’t understand." Ignoring his insult, Maya opened the textbook, prompting him to start teaching.

Liam, looking at her calm appearance, was seething, wrapping her in his arms, and started solving problems for her on scratch paper.

Seeing her little hand propped on the desk, supporting her little face, Liam felt very displeased; after finishing explaining a problem, he pinched the side of her waist hard, making her immediately slap his thigh in response.

Instantly, Liam’s face turned pale, left hand encircling her waist, right hand grabbing her little hand, asking, "Where are you hitting?"

Maya listened to his questioning, turned her head, looked into his eyes, and nonchalantly said, "You hit me harder."

"Maya, you better not just mouth off, if you can’t catch up with Elia, you’ll face the consequences."

"If I don’t catch up, it’s because you didn’t teach me well." She had plenty of excuses.

"Do the exercises." He released her hand, intending to get up and give her the chair.

But Maya thought he was going to pinch her again and promptly sat down heavily on him in retaliation.

This time, Liam didn’t even have the energy to curse, gripping her waist tightly, resting his forehead against her back, biting his lip, almost ready to kill her.

"It tickles, let go!"

Maya still didn’t realize how badly she had messed up, wriggling her little waist trying to break free of his hands, but he held her tightly, not letting her move.

At this moment, Maya finally realized she might have chosen the wrong place to sit; hearing his still breath, Maya’s heart nearly stopped, thinking, I’m doomed! I’m doomed!

She took a deep breath, gently grasped Liam’s hands clasped around her waist, turned her head, and asked, "Third Brother, are you okay? I didn’t mean it, should I call an ambulance for you?"

"Shut up!"
