Chapter 21: Chapter 21 Refreshed His Understanding of Women

"Do you not understand what I want to do?" She was his woman; didn’t she understand her role to him at night?

"I, I’m tired, I want to rest. I have to get up early for the set tomorrow," Sophie Smith said softly.

"What does that have to do with me?"

"You..."

That damn Asher Land, did he even realize his happiness was built on her suffering? Such a selfish man.

Sophie rolled her eyes; she knew he was a man of high demands, but she was struggling to keep up. No, no matter what, tonight she had to refuse!

"There’s a pet behind you, did you buy it today?" she said, looking behind Asher Land.

Pet?

Asher turned around, seeing an empty space behind him. Taking advantage of his distraction, Sophie quickly pushed him away from the door and swiftly locked it.

"Open the door!" Asher Land restrained the anger rising within him. Ever since he met this woman, she had continually refreshed his perception of women.

"I want to sleep now. I won’t open the door. You should sleep too," Sophie said through the door. The only thing she wanted now was a good night’s rest. As for the consequences tomorrow, the thought made her a bit anxious; after all, the person she shut out was Asher Land.

"I refuse to think about it so much. I still have filming tomorrow; why let him affect me?" With that, Sophie climbed onto the soft big bed, ready to have a good sleep.

Asher Land stood outside the door, thinking, fine, let her have it her way, but she can’t hide forever.

...

The sunlight outside was full of warmth as it shone into the room. Sophie drew the curtains and checked the time. Oh no! It’s ten o’clock. The director told her yesterday she needed to be at the set by ten-thirty. Only thirty minutes left, what should she do?

She hurriedly changed clothes and walked to the living room, finding Asher Land sitting on the sofa flipping through a finance magazine.

She cautiously ran to the washroom to fix her makeup, avoiding Asher Land, whose expression wasn’t looking good.

Oddly enough, Asher Land didn’t erupt as expected; Sophie was in a rush to get to the set and left hurriedly, not even exchanging a word with him.

Asher Land frustratedly threw the magazine in his hand to the ground; she always had a way to infuriate him.

Sophie arrived at the set, already more than twenty minutes late.

The rest of the cast and crew had long changed into costumes and finished makeup. The equipment was ready, just waiting for her.

"Sorry, I’m late. I promise it won’t happen again," she quickly apologized to everyone.

"What kind of world is this? Even third-rate actors dare act like divas."

"The whole crew waited for her. Does she not feel any shame?"

"So what if she’s been with President Land twice? She’s still fated to be dumped."

"..."

Sophie automatically tuned out these unpleasant remarks, hurriedly running to change clothes and fix her makeup, then she walked out.

"Alright, everyone in position, start filming," the director directed, "By the way, Sophie, can you swim?"

"There’s a scene where you fall into the water later. If you can’t swim, I’ll find a double for you," said the director.

"The water in the pond isn’t that deep. Do we need a double for such a minor actor?"

Sophie knew that being a newcomer to the crew, many were likely unimpressed with her. She didn’t want to give them reason to gossip.

"Director, the water isn’t deep, I can manage." Even though she couldn’t swim, the water wasn’t deep, so she should be fine.

"Alright then, start filming."
