Chapter 32: Chapter 32: The Body Submits to Him

"Sophie, do you still dare to say you’re not jealous?" He slowly approached her, whispering in her ear.

"I’m not jealous, I just can’t be as carefree as you!"

Ha, carefree?

"Don’t think too highly of yourself, I have countless women, you’re just one of them."

Why does this sound so familiar?

Sophie suddenly remembered, it was just like the lines she said during the casting of City of Desire.

She said, no matter if you love me or not, I will always love you, it has never changed; you can have countless women, as long as I am one of them, I don’t care, I really don’t care.

It’s truly laughable, in the end, this line turns out to be a true depiction of her relationship with Asher Land. Although she doesn’t love him, she cannot hide the fact that she’s just one of his many women.

"I advise you to be smarter, what qualifications do you have to resist me now?"

Indeed, what qualifications does she have to resist him? Her body stiffened in place, as Asher Land slowly approached her, lifting her horizontally and walking towards the room.

Sophie stopped struggling, all those struggles were futile. In the end, she would only end up bruised and battered, completely consumed by him.

That night, she didn’t make a fuss, at least, her body was very compliant with him.

When Sophie woke up, it was already late in the morning, fortunately, she didn’t have any scenes today, so she could rest peacefully and relax.

She turned over, the space beside her was empty.

Asher Land had already left at some unknown time, his warmth still lingering in the sheets.

Sophie felt her life was like a ridiculous farce. Every woman surely has a yearning in her heart; every day when she opens her eyes upon waking, the man she loves the most would be lying beside her, perhaps marking the beginning of a happy life.

But by her side was a demon instead.

...

In the vast conference room, men in suits sat on either side of the long table. The meeting was scheduled for ten in the morning, but by ten-thirty the protagonist of the meeting had yet to show.

"President Land is here."

Asher Land entered the conference room in a sharply tailored black suit, his figure tall and his expression aloof, appearing like an iceberg.

"President Land, do you not see any issue with the casting of City of Desire?" The speaker was a man in his forties, obviously showing a hint of indignation on his face, "Golden Era invested three hundred million in this film, yet you hired a virtually unknown newcomer. How can you guarantee box office success? Isn’t Golden Era doing a losing business?"

"Are you questioning me?" Asher Land smiled without anger, "If you have the capability, come sit in this position."

The room fell silent, everyone knew Asher Land’s way of doing things, once he decides, no one dares to oppose.

"I just think your decision isn’t wise,...even though Golden Era has strong financial resources, there’s no need to do unprofitable business."

"Who said I’m doing unprofitable business?" Asher Land stood up, walked to the middle-aged man, who, with his head down, didn’t dare to look directly at Asher Land.

"The screen is always filled with those few people, audiences are tired of them; it’s time to inject some fresh blood into the film industry. I have confidence in the person I chose."

"Yes, President Land..." The middle-aged man stammered.

"Let me say it again, I don’t like anyone questioning my decisions!"

Asher Land naturally had his pride. At just 27, he had become the CEO of Golden Era Consortium’s Asia region. It was known that Golden Era Consortium was a massive family enterprise with its headquarters in Europe, encompassing numerous industries including film, real estate, hotels, finance, and more. Asher Land was a true commercial tycoon. Golden Era Consortium had representatives in each continent, having established its own kingdom through decades of development.
