Chapter 45: Chapter 45: At Your Service (Part 3)

She pressed the button for the elevator to the CEO’s office and watched the floors steadily rise, feeling an inexplicable nervousness creeping in.

"Excuse me, are you Miss Smith?" The secretary approached her and asked.

Strange, how does the secretary know her? But she didn’t think much of it and simply replied, "I am."

"President Land is waiting for you, this way please." The secretary led her towards Asher Land’s office.

The secretary went in first to announce her, then came out and led her into Asher Land’s office.

Asher Land stood with his back to her, looking out the floor-to-ceiling window. Sophie Smith stood there for a long time before she finally spoke.

"Did you need something from me?" She dared to be so informal only when speaking to him.

He turned around, his sharp gaze directed at her.

"My woman must come at my call. I have no need for a reason to summon you."

He always spoke with such justification, as if he were the center of her universe. On what grounds should she revolve around him?

But, of course, she could only voice such thoughts in her mind.

Asher Land never fails to do the unimaginable.

She always assumed that Asher Land had some purpose in calling her here, but after he brought her to his office, he didn’t say a word to her, nor allowed her to leave. She had to sit by the sofa, mindlessly playing with her phone.

The diligently working Asher Land was quite different from his usual arrogant self. He sat at his desk, focused on the computer screen, his long fingers occasionally tapping on the keyboard. The sunlight streaming through the window cast a soft glow over him, stripping away his usual harsh demeanor and lending him a gentleness.

She lost herself in looking at him, until he cast his gaze upon her.

"Am I that good-looking?"

Good-looking? She never thought this man could be so vain besides being arrogant.

Sophie Smith fell silent, put her phone into her bag, and walked up to Asher Land.

"Can I leave now?" she asked.

Asher Land glanced at his watch, shut down the computer, picked up his suit jacket, and took her hand to walk outside.

"Let go!" There were many people and eyes around the company, didn’t he know how to avoid suspicion at all?

"You’re my woman, Miss Smith. What, afraid of being seen?"

Asher Land’s woman?

Hearing this, her emotions were mixed. She stopped struggling and let him hold her hand.

Wherever they went in the company, various gazes fell upon her—envy, jealousy, curiosity, ...

Sophie Smith knew that being by Asher Land’s side, she had to learn to endure all kinds of attention.

Asher Land drove along a road unfamiliar to her, making her feel a bit uneasy.

"Where are we going?"

"Why so many questions? Afraid I’ll sell you?" Asher Land replied impatiently.

Sophie Smith sensibly kept her mouth shut. Why was he so harsh!

Watching her pout involuntarily, looking out the window like an upset child, his heart softened instantly.

The car finally stopped at a place completely unfamiliar to her.

It was a luxurious villa halfway up the mountain, with beautiful surroundings and pleasant scenery. All Sophie Smith could think was it was the most imposing house she’d ever seen.

The dignified black iron gates swung open, and Sophie Smith followed Asher Land inside.

"Third Young Master, you’re back." A woman in her fifties came out. But wait, she called Asher Land Third Young Master?

Could this be Asher Land’s home?
