One Piece: I am Imu-Chapter 308: A World Reshaped
Chapter 308 - 308: A World Reshaped
"Makahadoma!"
Suddenly, Esdeath's sharp cry drew Imu's attention.
A pale blue ripple swept across the battlefield, enveloping the entire open area in a semi-spherical space.
Everything inside froze instantly.
Historia, however, had anticipated this. Her entire body was already reinforced with Armament Haki, forming a protective layer.
Even so, while it prevented her from being completely immobilized, her movements were drastically slowed. The only thing left unaffected was her mind, which raced at full speed.
Imu observed the shimmering edge of the space, barely a meter away, and nodded approvingly.
This meant Esdeath had gained precise control over Makahadoma's range—something she couldn't do before joining the World Government.
Not only had she improved her ability to manipulate Makahadoma, but its duration and usage limits had also increased significantly.
This progress was thanks to the vast resources Imu had provided—cell-enhancing serums, intense training in both types of Haki, gravity-field combat exercises, natural energy control, and the power boost from the Mythical Zoan Horse-Horse Fruit: Kirin Model.
In just one year, Esdeath had managed to catch up to Historia.
And Historia was not to be underestimated.
As Queen of the Eldians, she possessed the combined power of the Nine Titans. With the support of cell-enhancing serums and rigorous martial training, her physical strength, endurance, and combat skills had already reached the level of a Vice Admiral.
She had also been exposed to Haki training much earlier than Esdeath.
On top of that, she had an ace up her sleeve—Ymir.
The vengeful spirit of two thousand years, Ymir wielded a simulator-level ability to foresee the future.
With minimal effort, Ymir could allow Historia to see every inevitable move Esdeath would make.
It was essentially an upgraded version of Observation Haki's Future Sight.
Imu had no doubt that Ymir would intervene on Historia's behalf.
And sure enough...
Even within the frozen space of Makahadoma, Historia, though slowed, still managed to move.
With almost supernatural precision, she intercepted every one of Esdeath's thrusts using her long spear, its black-glowing edge cutting through the air.
She endured the full ten seconds without fail.
As the ability faded, Esdeath backed away, halting her assault, her expression grim.
This was their third sparring session.
And every time, she found herself suppressed by Historia's overwhelming foresight.
No matter how she attacked, Historia always knew what was coming and had already prepared a counter.
It put her in an almost unbeatable position.
Lately, Esdeath had started to notice her progress slowing.
Imu had explained that the benefits of the cell-enhancing serums and the Kirin Fruit had reached their peak, and from now on, her growth would return to a normal rate.
But the problem was...
Her current strength was somewhere between Lieutenant General and General level.
To accelerate her growth, Esdeath decided to ask Historia to spar with her.
It wasn't that she hadn't considered other opponents.
There were the Giants and the elite Cipher Pol agents aboard the Ark, but as the Queen, who would dare go all out against her?
At the same time in another area of Noah's Ark, Doflamingo was engaged in a grueling battle.
His opponents were the giants Surtur and Utgard.
Doflamingo looked battered and exhausted, but the power he displayed had already reached the level of his future self—twenty years ahead in the original timeline.
Doflamingo was already incredibly strong, mastering Observation Haki's Future Vision, as well as Armament Haki's Internal Destruction.
The problem was...
His opponents were two giant warriors who had undergone gravity-field training, mastered Life Return and the Six Powers, and possessed Logia-type Devil Fruits.
On top of that, their mastery of Haki and their golden armor made them formidable adversaries—neither of whom Doflamingo could take down easily.
Yet, despite the overwhelming odds, he held his ground, battling both at once.
That alone was impressive.
But Imu had set a far higher standard.
In other words, Doflamingo would not be entrusted with greater responsibilities until he attained the strength of a true General.
After briefly observing Esdeath and Doflamingo's battles, Imu disappeared in an instant, reappearing in his gravity training room.
Imu extended a hand. A swirling mass of white mist formed in the palm, rapidly expanding into a pale blue semi-spherical space—eerily similar to Esdeath's Makahadoma.
In the next moment...
The gravity floodlights on the ceiling hummed to life.
The flash emitters activated.
Violet light filled the place, enveloping the pale blue hemispherical field. At the boundary where the two forces met, faint ripples of distortion flickered.
This was the work of the Op-Op Fruit's spatial abilities, shielding the area from the crushing force of eighteen times normal gravity under Imu's control.
It was a pure contest of power—a test to push his abilities to their limits.
The next moment—Four flash emitters zipped along the ceiling tracks, firing golden beams at Imu.
These beams had been modified to prevent explosions upon impact, but their extreme heat and velocity were still enough to cause severe piercing damage.
However—Imu didn't dodge. He stood firm, unmoving. Around him, streaks of eerie green lightning materialized out of thin air, surging forward to intercept the oncoming blasts.
In an instant, golden lasers and emerald lightning clashed from multiple directions, unleashing waves of energy explosions and deafening booms throughout the chamber.
The shockwaves fractured the floor, leaving behind a web of cracks.
Fortunately, under eighteen times gravity, the blasts' impact was heavily suppressed, preventing damage beyond the training grounds.
Soon—The flash emitters increased their firing speed. Imu, unbothered, retaliated.
For a while—The vast gravity training hall became a battlefield of golden beams and green lightning, a relentless crossfire of energy.
The storm of attacks raged on, suppressed by overwhelming gravity, while the blue sphere resisted its crushing pressure.
And yet, Imu himself simply stood there, observing with cold detachment.
The emerald lightning bolts crackling around him—They were a variant of the Gamma Knife, a technique he had refined into something far deadlier: Gamma Rays.
Not only did they possess extreme penetration power, but they were also devastating to biological cells.
In a
From the moment he consumed the Op-Op Fruit, Imu had realized one undeniable truth: mastering Gamma Rays was the key to his most lethal technique.
Naturally, he had focused on refining them.
For example, beyond using Gamma Rays as electrical currents, he could also unleash them as pure radiant energy.
Anyone caught in that blast would suffer a fate worse than death—cell breakdown, their bodies reduced to lifeless husks.
Knowledge and insight were power.
And yet, in the original timeline, Trafalgar Law had used the Gamma Knife like a mere stabbing weapon—what a waste.
While Imu silently trained for the coming battles, the Starfish World and its affiliated worlds entered a period of rapid development under the management of the World Government.
Two consecutive World Summits had passed four major legislative acts. Thanks to the tireless efforts of mid- and lower-level officials, these reforms were already being implemented worldwide.
The Four Great Acts were:
The complete abolition of the slave trade & universal slave liberation act
The basic livelihood security act for all citizens of Starfish World.
The celestial tribute reform act (transitioning to a proportional tax system)
The nationalization of devil fruits & devil fruit user registration act
And first on the list—Was the eradication of slavery.
Simply passing a law didn't mean slavery would vanish overnight.
The Starfish World was vast, and there were still nobles—and even wealthy commoners—who desired slaves to serve them.
Where there was demand, there would always be those willing to take risks for profit. As long as they had enough strength, these criminals could easily raid the seas, capturing people to sell into slavery.
However—In recent years, the World Government's crackdown on the slave trade had remained as relentless as ever.
The reason?
The man currently serving as Minister of Public Security was none other than Monkey D. Dragon.
Under his command, law enforcement's primary targets were both slave traders and those who bought them.
As for the Basic Livelihood Security Act and the Celestial Tribute Tax Reform—There wasn't much controversy.
The Basic Livelihood Security Act was being steadily implemented and was welcomed by the general populace wherever it was introduced.
The Celestial Tribute Reform, however, faced resistance from wealthier nations, though smaller, poorer nations overwhelmingly supported it.
It was worth noting—Due to certain intentional or unintentional actions by the World Government, an increasing number of small and impoverished nations had begun applying to relinquish their national sovereignty.
Instead, they sought to relocate their entire populations to the Red Line, opting to live as directly governed cities under the World Government.
This created the need for a new administrative department to oversee the influx of these populations.
Fortunately—The emergence of Star Den-Den Mushi had freed up a large number of low-level government officials, allowing them to be reassigned to handle this transition.
As for the Nationalization of Devil Fruits and the Devil Fruit User Registration Act—There had been some resistance and noncompliance, but with the full backing of the World Government, enforcement had been highly effective.
In fact—The Holy Treasury now held so many confiscated Devil Fruits that they had to expand its storage space just to house them.
Meanwhile, the number of registered Devil Fruit users had grown so vast that their records filled volume after volume of official documentation.
Each new entry only further strengthened the World Government's hold on power.
