One Piece: I'm Destined to Be the Son-in-Law King!-Chapter 112: Protected by Senior Brother Weasel
Chapter 112 - Protected by Senior Brother Weasel
As the sun began to set, Roya strolled back to the training area.
His crew was eagerly waiting. A wide smile spread across Roya's face. He slowly raised his hand, flashing a peace sign.
"It's done!"
His men exploded with cheers.
"Colonel, you're the best!"
"Easy, easy, it's all thanks to my awesome mohawk!"
Updat𝓮d from freewēbnoveℓ.com.
Roya casually ran a hand over his mohawk, feeling pretty good about it. He thought it gave him a cool look.
This is the life!
Roya sauntered over to Hina, a playful glint in his eyes. "Colonel Hina, could you maybe find a place for me and my guys to stay?"
"Understood," Hina sighed, resigned. Vice Admiral Momonga clearly wasn't going to kick Roya out, so she had no choice but to follow orders.
Honestly, what's Momonga thinking? I just don't get it.
Dorms, mess halls, meeting spots, training grounds - the usual routine was so ingrained in her mind.
Plus, officers could bring their families!
Behind the G-1 Fortress, right below the Red Line, there was a special town called "Red Port."
It was mostly filled with government workers and Marine families, and it was a pretty lively place. Deep inside Red Port was a special elevator that led all the way up to the Holy Land of Mary Geoise.
The next morning arrived.
Roya hadn't been given any specific duties yet. As a Headquarters Colonel, he didn't have to do the regular training. With time to spare, he headed straight for the Commodore in charge of supplies.
After Roya explained why he was there, the Commodore got a shifty look on his face, rubbing his hands like he wanted a bribe. "Colonel Roya, housing is, uh, kinda tight right now. You might have to wait a while..."
Clang!
Roya's sword, Rain Cutter, sliced into the desk.
He grabbed the Commodore by the collar, a chilling smile on his face. He roared, "Do you even know who I am? Let me tell you something, Instructor Zephyr is my mentor, and Vice Admiral Momonga is like my big brother. Now, say that again!"
His booming voice echoed through the entire supply department.
"I'm so sorry! I'll get it arranged right away!"
The Commodore immediately caved.
In less than half a day, the supply department found Roya a pretty nice two-story house in Red Port.
Ririka was thrilled with their new home.
"We don't have to move anymore!" she exclaimed happily.
"Yep, we're safe here," Roya assured her.
Roya was happy too. There wasn't a safer place than Red Port within five years. The only thing to worry about were those clueless Celestial Dragons who sometimes wandered around.
Ririka hugged her daughter, her eyes shining with hope for their new life. "Roya, I want to take Rika to apply to be a Marine cook."
"That's a great idea," Roya said, giving her a thumbs up.
It was good for her to have something to do. If he remembered correctly, Ririka and Little Rika would become cooks at the 153rd Branch in a few years if he didn't do anything about it.
Damn it, Little Rika even often gave Rice Balls to Coby.
"I'm going to see Zoro off," Roya announced.
He went outside, and Zoro was waiting for him. After their adventure in Logue Town, the young swordsman was ready to strike out on his own.
"Let's go, I'll take you to the ship," Roya said.
"Thank you," Zoro replied, taking a deep breath and following Roya.
He was about to face the biggest challenge of his life. The pirates in this sea were a hundred, a thousand times stronger than the ones he'd seen in Logue Town.
To survive, he had to rely on himself!
But if he could make a name for himself, he would be one step closer to becoming the World's Greatest Swordsman. He didn't want to stay in a small place and settle for less.
Several merchant ships were getting ready to leave the port. Roya wasn't sure where they were going, but they were probably headed to the New World.
Before they parted, Roya looked at the determined young man and said seriously, "Zoro, I won't tell you what to do, and I won't force you to join the Marines. I only have one request: don't become a pirate!"
"Brother Roya, I promise you, I will never become a pirate!" Zoro vowed.
He'd never even considered becoming a pirate. He knew Roya wasn't worried about him turning evil, but he didn't want them to become enemies.
Roya smiled and waved, like he was sending off a younger brother.
"Go out there and don't die!"
"Before I become the World's Greatest Swordsman, even if I have to crawl back from hell, I will!" Zoro declared.
He grinned and bowed to Roya. "Brother Roya, thank you for your guidance and help these past two years. If you ever need me, no matter where I am, I'll be there to help!"
"The ship's leaving, kid," Roya said.
He watched Zoro board the ship. As it sailed out of the port, Roya smiled. The next time they met, this kid might be a famous swordsman known throughout the New World.
With everything settled, he felt relaxed.
Roya took a supply ship back to G-1.
The G-1 Branch had a permanent force of over ten thousand, divided into 10 divisions, each with slightly different jobs.
There were patrol squads, support units, prisoner transport teams, and intelligence divisions, among others.
The best-treated units were usually filled with rich kids from the Allied Nations. Their main job was to protect the Celestial Dragons when they traveled.
---
As soon as Roya got back, he saw a super-fancy warship with the World Government symbol leaving the port. Judging by the golden lion figurehead, a Celestial Dragon was probably on board.
"Tsk, pretty impressive," Roya muttered.
One day, I'll take those arrogant jerks down. The people in charge should be the ones who can actually do the job!
A messenger approached him.
"Colonel Roya, Vice Admiral Momonga wants to see you," he said.
"Understood," Roya replied, nodding slightly.
He took the elevator up to Vice Admiral Momonga's office.
Momonga was on the phone, looking miserable, like someone had done him wrong. Not many people could make him look like that.
Roya waited quietly outside the open door. When Momonga hung up, he knocked.
"Come in," Momonga said.
When he saw Roya, his head hurt even more. He'd been talking to Instructor Zephyr.
He couldn't understand what Zephyr saw in this kid, always protecting him. Could he really become an Admiral one day?
Bullshit!
If this rascal ever becomes an Admiral, I'll eat my desk, every last piece!
Momonga went over to the couch and said grumpily, "Sit down. No need to be formal. I'm basically your senior."
"Yes, sir!" Roya said, sitting down obediently.
My senior has seniority. I should listen to him!
Momonga studied Roya. The more he looked, the more annoyed he became. The more obedient the kid acted now, the more trouble he'd cause later.
Whatever, I'm not going to argue with him.
Momonga said sternly, "Roya, I was going to put you in the Ninth Division, the prisoner transport squad, but you brought over two hundred people, messing up my plans."
"I'm sorry for the trouble, Senior," Roya said, even calling him "Senior."
From now on, Senior Momonga is my brother in the G-1 Branch. If anyone tries to mess with me, they'll have to answer to him first!
Momonga's mouth twitched. He knew Roya was up to something. Zephyr had trained thousands of Marines. Momonga couldn't possibly know them all.
"Ahem, you can still call me Vice Admiral," he said.
"Okay, Senior!"
"I said call me Vice Admiral Momonga!"
"I know, Senior Momonga," Roya said, playing dumb. "You said we were brothers. Go complain to Instructor Zephyr if you dare!"
Momonga's face darkened.
Damn it, I let my guard down yesterday. This kid will take advantage of me if I give him an inch!
"Junior... ahem, Roya!" Momonga said, putting on a serious face. "I checked out your men this morning. You're still in charge of them."
"Thank you, Senior!" Roya's eyes lit up.
Senior is so nice.
"You're welcome," Momonga sighed gloomily.
Damn Junior, you think I want to do it this way? Nobody else wants them!
The officers in each division were at least Rear Admiral rank. Nobody wanted to take in that bunch of unruly Marines.
Who wanted that kind of trouble?
As the base commander, he could force Roya's men into different divisions, but he couldn't completely ignore what his colleagues wanted.
Momonga was in a difficult position.
"The problem is, every division is already full. There's no room for over two hundred more Marines," he said.
"I understand, Senior!" Roya said, rubbing his hands together eagerly.
"Since all the divisions are full, why don't we create a new one?" Roya suggested. "I noticed that each division has its own job, but there isn't one specifically for hunting pirates. How about we call it the Pirate Extermination Squad?"
Momonga was speechless.
Junior Roya, you're just a Colonel, and you want to start a whole new division, a Pirate Extermination Squad?
The G-1 Branch didn't have a division just for hunting pirates.
There were three main reasons.
First, the G-1 Branch's job, like the Headquarters, was to protect the Holy Land of Mary Geoise. They couldn't send out a large force to hunt pirates without permission from higher up. Pirate hunting was just a side job.
Second, the Four Emperors ruled the New World. The Marines and the Emperors had a policy of not interfering with each other, so the Marines couldn't go into the Emperors' territories without permission. Their actions were limited.
Third, there was also the G-5 Branch in the New World. They were supposed to be the main force for hunting pirates, even though they weren't very effective. It was mostly for show.
Plus, the Tenth Fleet of G-1 was the patrol and security force. If pirates showed up near the base, the Tenth Fleet would take care of them.
Momonga thought hard. He wasn't considering the benefits of the Pirate Extermination Squad, but using it as a way to get Roya out of the base, so he wouldn't cause any more trouble.
"Let me think about it," he said.
