To him, Superintendent Ouyang was both the boss and an elder. He felt that acting deferential to an elder wasn’t embarrassing at all.
“Director Zhang, haha! Please come in.” Superintendent Ouyang glanced at Zhang Fan through her eyeglasses. Although she had a serious expression, the smile appearing at the corners of her mouth betrayed her real attitude towards him.
“Haha! Superintendent, you’re joking with me again!” Zhang Fan closed the office door and walked up to Superintendent Ouyang.
“Have a seat! Why remain standing? Don’t you know that my neck isn’t in a good condition? Not bad at all, it’s not easy to remain humble. I was worried that a fake director like you would start to think that you’re a real director.”
After Zhang Fan sat down, Superintendent Ouyang actually even poured a cup of water for him. Although it was simply a one-time-use disposable cup with some bottled water, this was still really rare for someone of the superintendent’s standing to do.
“Superintendent, allow me, allow me!” Zhang Fan hurriedly went over to try and offer to help.
“Just have a seat. I’ve been sitting down for too long, so I decided to get some water for you along the way.” Superintendent Ouyang made him sit down. She didn’t return to her large personal chair, but instead sat down on the guest sofa next to the other guest sofa that Zhang Fan was sitting on in her office.
“What’s up? Do you want to get permanently assigned to a department? Have you really become enamored with proctology?” Superintendent Ouyang wasn’t the type who would praise others. This was simply how she was. She would always try her best to teach her heartfelt intentions to the people that she viewed as important.
Zhang Fan finally understood what the urology director must have felt with Superintendent Ouyang being his ex-girlfriend. Superintendent Ouyang spoke in a slightly sarcastic tone. She was forceful, intelligent, and also had a sharp tongue!
“No, of course you would have to decide on permanently assigning me to a department! I came here today simply to report on my current work to you.” Zhang Fan hurriedly explained what he was here for. Nobody would be immune to Superintendent Ouyang’s sharp tongue.
“What’s the matter? Do you not have enough patient beds in your department? Previously, the proctology department was always so empty. You managed to fill things to the brim after just two weeks. Should I be praising you or scolding you?” Superintendent Ouyang was more than skilled enough to judge from his attitude when standing at her doorway that Zhang Fan hadn’t come to see her about anything related to himself. “Yes, but since the surgery plan will be a bit difficult, that’s why I would like to ask for you to look it over.”
“Why ask me to look it over? I don’t have the professional knowledge necessary regarding surgeries.” Superintendent Ouyang thought about things for a moment before saying, “Let’s do this, then. We can have a small meeting in the conference room in a bit. I’ll also summon the surgeon vice superintendent. You can prepare your surgery plan some more in the meantime. You’re certain that there’s no problem?” Superintendent Ouyang asked once more for confirmation.
“There are no problems. It’s just that the difficulty of this surgery is greater than most others.”
“How difficult is it?”
“I looked through our hospital’s past surgery records and medical reports. Our hospital has never performed this type of surgery before.”
“How much of a guarantee do you have?”
“Around 80%. If I can’t finish the type of surgery that I want, then I’ll perform the standard surgery, which shouldn’t have much risk,” Zhang Fan explained.
