Chapter 264: Fenrir

- Ultima Port, capital of Fenrir

The temperature had dropped below 6°. Fenrir’s ship arrived in a large port where many military ships were lined up.

There were no normal people around, only black knights gathered to welcome their General.

Rhea led the way, with Dora, Giudecca, and Lucca behind them, then followed Marie, Zury, and the other Personas, except for Beta, and the rest of the Black Knights on the ship.

In front of the waiting army, an old man in a similar military uniform nodded at them in welcome, then walked next to Rhea and gave her a brief briefing on their planning.

They left the port and boarded several black vehicles, driving through the city.

Ultima was a large city, not as luxurious as the royal capital of Ambrosia.

It looked more like a 20th-century industrial town, with apartments lining the road.

There were some traces of vegetation, just a few small trees along the sidewalk, spaced the same distance apart.

The citizens were rather sober, with no commotion, not much chatter, and no music.

The city was as cold as its climate, and the citizen only reacted to the convoy of vehicles by announcing the return of the ghost of the world.

Sharing the same car with her, Dora observed the surroundings attentively, next to Rhea, arms crossed.

"I heard that Fenrir didn’t suffer much from the Twilight of the Gods, but it’s beyond what I imagined."

"The Twilight of the Gods is nothing more than a Player Rift, and without Avatar, I see no difference between a Player and any monster."

"Hm, I can understand why some people are desperate over the passivity of the Avatars. So, how long will it take to get to your HQ?"

The old man sitting in front opened one eye and looked at the rearview mirror, but immediately met Rhea’s gaze as if she was warning him to stay silent.

"We’ll be there soon enough, no need to rush. The one you want to meet is also dying to see you."

Both of them were looking at their windows, like a perfect mirror, while, behind in a truck, the remaining Personas, Zury, Marie, Giudecca, and Lucca were stuck together.

Marie had great difficulties because she often met Giudecca’s furious gaze.

She looked to the side, but then the four Personas around her glared at Giudecca, forcing her to look to the side too, groaning.

Lucca, a little embarrassed, smiled at Zury to lighten the mood, but Zury gave her a disgusted look and turned her head.

It was quite a tense atmosphere where they all forgot how to talk and the rest of the trip continued like this until they reached a large military base.

The place was occupied by different types of people, military people, scientists, and black knights.

The group entered the main building, escorted by the Black Knights.

Everyone was focused on one activity and only stopped to give a military salute when Rhea’s delegation reached them.

It seemed like the presence of another Sin Avatar wasn’t a big deal, but to Dora, it showed either that they were mentally built for their task or that they already knew he would be joining them.

They finally entered a large room with a long table in the middle and soberly decorated with plants and vases.

There sat a few individuals in military uniforms and some wearing the uniform of the Black Knights but without their masks.

The group, made up of Rhea and her 2 wings, Dora and his Personas, Marie, Zury, and the old man sat down, Rhea and Dora face to face next to an empty chair at the end of the table.

"Alright, everyone here is aware of the conclusion of our expedition to the Kalaharis, so we won’t waste time on the details. Let’s start with a brief introduction. This person is the Avatar of Greed, our new ally, and from now on consider him the highest authority after me.

Everyone nodded briefly without any sign of objection, then a man in military uniform raised his arm to speak.

"I’m happy to finally have him with us, but isn’t Greed supposed to be just one person?"

Their gazes focused on the four Personas, Dora’s eyes narrowed and turned to Rhea who nodded.

"We don’t need to hear all his secrets, if Greed is one or ten, it doesn’t matter to us. Our goal was for him to join us, and now that he has, we can finally move on to the final part of the project."

Dora crossed his arms, his gaze drifting to his Personas.

They attracted the attention of most people, especially because of the abnormal energy they gave off.

While dormant, an emissary would normally not emit energy and would blend in seamlessly among normal people without being noticed.

This was an exception for people who had reached a level where their hidden power was great enough to be noticed, and the higher the hidden power, the more terrifying the true power would be.

However, in Dora’s case, the phenomenon was alarming. Although they hid their power, it only took a moment standing next to them to notice that the Personas were hiding a terrifying amount of power, like a walking explosion.

To Rhea it didn’t matter, to everyone in Fenrir, Dora was what Rhea was to the rest of the world: a threat greater than the Twilight of Gods.

Dora’s gaze focused on the table, his mind focusing on an important subject unknown to many.

He was so focused that he didn’t pay attention to the door opening and the new person walking towards him.

It wasn’t until several voices were raised that he noticed something touching his hair.

"Hm?!"

He looked to his left and flinched when he saw her.

Rhea sighed as she took off her hat.

"You couldn’t wait 2 minutes, could you?"

The new individual, a short girl with pink hair, elegantly coiffed and dressed in an oriental dress, took a step back, a smile on her lips and eyes adorned with pink irises like precious stones, looking at Dora.

Her fingers caressed Dora’s face, with a touch that seemed to release a mystical energy upon contact with his skin.

"...2 minutes? Oh, Rhea... I’ve been waiting for a thousand years...Besides..."

She leaned towards him, almost touching him with her forehead, causing him to lean back.

She laughed softly as she stood up.

"Who am I to deserve a glorious entrance before him?"

She stepped back and tilted her head towards him, a scene that startled some of the assembly.

"You’re going by Anesidora this time, right? So I can still call you Dora? I’m so happy to finally meet you."

"... Who... are you?"

She put a hand on her chest, a smile on her lips.

"Sorry, I was so impatient that I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Eva, just Eva..."

She opened her eyes, her pink eyes dancing in Dora’s eyes.

"...The first Player."
