Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead-Chapter 643: Desire For Murder
Instinctively gasping for the energy-rich air, the guard did not quite comprehend what was happening to him, normally, for someone to inflict such harm onto him, they would have needed to use some soul energy reinforcement, but that purple-eyed stranger had just reached out, grabbed his neck and used his thumb to rend his windpipe, utterly squashing it with a level of precision and expertise that was simply ungodly.
In fact, he should have been able to sense some killing intent, or at least, his intent to do harm in some way, but there had been nothing, no difference between the moment when they had been speaking normally and the instant in which he decided to inflict a severe injury.
Sent stumbling into the alley, he almost wanted to scream for some assistance, but stopped himself, that would only further worsen his already dreadful injury.
'Fool! You should have killed me in one go… I may just be a guard, but I know how to gather air by manipulating ambient soul energy within it! Crushing my trachea means nothing!' he would have said it aloud had he been able to, but that was not something he could do with just soul energy.
Holding out his hand to the side, a copper spear, rather short for such a class of weapon, appeared in his palm, clutching it strongly, he took up a combat stance.
"Is that object manifestation?" Popping out from behind his attacker, the brown haired girl said something that, by all account, sounded like nonsensical blabber, though, as he looked at her, he got the impression that something was wrong, like her face was not right, as though it was constantly melting and also not.
Appearing differently with each passing second, the eye colour was never the same, he could not tell what her hair looked like anymore, in fact, he didn't even know if he was even looking at a woman, man or some sort of animal.
'Am I caught in some sort of illusion?' he wondered.
"It is not, this man is an object binder, his spear was simply stored within his soul" replied Loimos, Maliah nodding her head.
"So, does it have anything special?"
"It is merely a spear stronger than normal and that can be imbued with much more soul energy than usual, it seems like this living is either untalented, or does not possess anything special about his soul for it to grant anything more than the basics to his bound object"
"That's lame as fuck… Can I murder him?"
"You may, just make sure not to break his weapon or splatter his blood too far" Loimos did not mention it, but he had only attacked this living because Maliah was definitely going to do it herself soon enough, indeed, it seemed like getting insulted without quite understanding the actual content of the insult was more upsetting to her than otherwise.
In any case, it wasn't like it was that much of a problem to slay this guard right now, his colleague might wonder about where he had gone to, but that was manageable.
And anyways, Loimos had already taken into account Maliah's nature when he brought her along, sometimes, she just couldn't help herself, there merely was the illusion of self-restraint most of the time.
With an ominous grin, she stepped toward the guard, who did not hesitate to thrust his bound spear at what he perceived as an ever-changing abomination, his technique was good, he most definitely knew how to attack with a spear, however, he clearly wasn't a great warrior.
Reacting with shock and not making any adjustment as his target swiftly moved just out of the way at the last moment, he didn't even stop his attack and was thrown of balance, stumbling forward like a bumbling idiot, clearly, he had assumed that strike was going to land and never even thought of the alternative.
Seems like his rant about binders was naught but projection of his own weakness.
Maliah wasn't even moving fast, there was no need to be speedy when the strike coming for you looked like a tired snail's crawling to you, she caught the man's left wrist and forearm, cracking it open like a twig, her grasp so tyrannical that no blood was allowed to pour out of the horrifying wounds left behind, flesh and veins compressed together against the bones.
The guard couldn't even scream and just let go of his weapon, rolling on the ground madly, Maliah sighed, his screams would have probably been a fine melody to relax to.
Instead, she just stepped on his solar plexus putting pressure on his rib cage, she leaned down and just began poking at different spots, the simple pressing of her index finger causing his internal organ to explode one after the other, he passed out long before he died from shock.
"Mmh, they are a bit more resilient… Would have expected better from people with literal soul organs" she mused.
"They do not possess true ethereal organs, they would have an easy time converting most of them to energy organs, but it would appear that they do not know how, or that the method is safekept by higher ranking livings, we shall know when we see one" Loimos saw much potential into these people as living soldiers, but for now, he couldn't even try to kidnap one and bring them outside as there was no actual portal out of this realm.
To open one up, he would need to regain his full power, and to do so, he needed to conquer and kill.
Crouching down besides the corpse, Loimos grabbed something that tried to escape the remains, that something being the guard's soul, in the next moment, Loimos's face split open, revealing the skull that Maliah recognised as his actual face, it seemed like this current body of his really was what Loimos would have looked like as a living, since his skeleton was actually the same, only without bits of rot hanging about.
Then, his skull split open as well and even began stuffing every evidence of the guard's death in there, squeezing the corpse, soul, spear and clothes into there with impressive ease, somehow fitting everything and even drawing the drops of blood along before closing everything up.
"I am not aware of the reason, but it would seem that most of the city is empty, we can simply hide there and present ourselves as newcomers when the occasion to go into the undead sub-realm presents itself" he said, not saying anything about the act of horror he had just done.
"Will it really be so easy?"

"We shall see"
"I say we murder that other guard too… Surely he'll come through the same way to leave his post, right?" Maliah hungered for some more.
"Then, let us hide into a nearby building"
