Chapter 881 - Talk by a National Healer

Li Xiao had just joined the hospital as an intern. Her parents were both doctors. So she was influenced by them from a young age. She graduated from high school and successfully entered a medical school, finding a decent mentor in the process. As a result, she managed to enter this first-class hospital in Beijing for her internship.

Her life was fulfilling. Besides her professional knowledge in western medicine, she had also started looking into TCM last year. She had been influenced by that famous talent in the TCM industry.

Li Xiao paid great attention to Su Tao and read almost every single piece of his article. She did not consider herself a fan of Su Tao; she was just interested in him. She found his stories interesting, just like the protagonist of a novel. He had a protagonist aura around him that made him the focus of attention.

As a result, her research on Su Tao gradually made her interested in TCM. She taught herself the Compendium of Medical Herbs 1596 and Synopsis of Golden Chamber's Prescription in her spare time. Then again, she did not have a mentor to lead her into TCM. So she still couldn’t figure out how TCM works.

So Li Xiao became excited when she heard that Su Tao was invited to host a hospital lecture. It felt like she was finally meeting her idol in reality.

Li Xiao tried to control her emotions and came to the conference room early for a central position.

Several pediatric nurses were sitting behind her. Attendance was compulsory for this lecture today. Many people knew about Su Tao, like Li Xiao. They came with the mentality of meeting their idol and to learn more about Su Tao.

“Did you see that news? The lecturer today is the lover of South Korea’s Heavenly Queen, Hwang Ji-yeon.” A nurse in her early twenties gossiped with her colleagues.

“I’ve seen it! It’s rumored that Su Tao isn’t only good in his medical skills, but he’s also a successful entrepreneur. Did you hear of the Three Flavour International? Their products are super good, and it’s founded by Su Tao. Last year on Milan’s Fashion Week, the Three Flavour International not only launched new cosmetic products, but their clothes fashion also created a craze abroad. Gu Rushan, the hottest celebrity now, is the spokesperson for Three Flavour International.” Another nurse replied.

“That’s fake news just to bring more attention. Hwang Ji-yeon is also a spokesperson for the Three Flavour International, who also appeared in the Fashion Week last year.”

The nurses behind Li Xiao began to talk among themselves. She smiled disdainfully when she heard those words. The nurses were different from actual doctors. They came to meet an idol, while Li Xiao hoped to learn something from Su Tao.

Not all news about Su Tao was gossip. He treated a vegetative patient along with a leukemia patient. Entertainment news could be exaggerated, but not academic news. It was undeniable that Su Tao had created one after another miracle with TCM.

Besides being the Three Flavour International’s Chairman, he was also the founder of the Three Flavour Hall. Furthermore, he also held a position as Jianghuai Hospital’s Vice-President. His reputation was fully backed with ability.

“I never expected that you’re here so early.” Jin Kang noticed Li Xiao the moment he came in.

Jin Kang was thirty-two years old this year and unmarried. It was a common situation in Beijing, especially for doctors. Western medicine generally had a high requirement for academics. Masters were only starting. After completing his Ph.D. in his late twenties, Jin Kang was the best among his batch to enter the hospital. He was now the Deputy Head of the Internal Medicine Department. This was why he could have such a casual talk with Li Xiao.

“Hello, Mr. Jin. I’m very interested in TCM, so I came early today knowing that a National Healer will be giving a talk today.” Li Xiao had a decent impression of Jin Kang. Jin Kang was friendly to her, not to mention that she was also interested in Internal Medicine. So when she was rotated to the internal medicine department, she would seek Jin Kang for doubts even though Jin Kang wasn’t her mentor. As Jin Kang had a solid foundation, he would always give the right answer to her.

“You’re interested in TCM?” Jin Kang smiled unexpectedly. “I heard that Mr. Tao is planning to focus on training the TCM Department in the hospital. But I find it a little spoof.”

“Why?” Li Xiao looked at Jin Kang curiously.

Jin Kang secretly peeked at Li Xiao. Li Xiao was pretty, not to mention that she shared a great resemblance to her ex-girlfriend when he was in his second university year. She was publicly recognized as the Bella of the hospital, captivating the hearts of many male colleagues.

The hospital had new people coming in every year, but only two out of them were good-looking. Li Xiao was the best in the past five to six years. Not only was she beautiful, but she also had a good figure that went well with her white coat.

Jin Kang had many girlfriends in the past, but Li Xiao’s appearance had surpassed any of his ex-girlfriends. Most importantly, Li Xiao was young. Just by sitting next to her, he could catch a youthful scent that drilled deep into his pores.

Hence, Jin Kang made up his mind to pursue Li Xiao.

Jin Kang sounded his question for TCM deliberately to catch Li Xiao’s attention. With a smile, he explained, “The State Council might have released a few policies to support TCM, but TCM is too weak, in my opinion. How many physicians are there in the country? Not to mention if TCM is effective, but Western medicine has a bigger advantage that can be acknowledged by common people from the current situation. So in my opinion, I think that Mr. Tao is trying to make use of the policies to increase the hospital’s reputation. After all, there’s nothing special about our hospital that stands out from other hospitals. Even our medical equipment and experience are far from those top hospitals.”

“You think that the president is trying to attract attention by supporting TCM?” Li Xiao asked after listening to Jin Kang’s words.

“That’s right. So if you want to get through the internship smoothly, you still have to learn western medicine. I heard that you’ve been looking into TCM during your free time? I don’t think that it’s necessary. It’s better to spend your precise time doing something else. If you’re interested in internal medicine, I can recommend you to a few works to build up your foundation.” Jin Kang was a Ph.D., while Li Xiao was an undergraduate. So he thinks that he was good enough to instruct Li Xiao.”

“Thank you for your suggestion, Mr. Jin. My interest in TCM is just a hobby, but I’m still under rotation, so I’m still not sure which one I will be choosing.” Li Xiao politely rejected Jin Kang’s goodwill. She was an independent woman. So when she heard that Jin Kang was inquiring what she did in her free time, it aroused her vigilance and disgust instinctively.

Then again, Li Xiao also noticed Jin Kang’s attitude towards her. But she had no interest in her at all.

Firstly, Jin Kang’s appearance wasn’t exactly outstanding. There might not be many ugly men, but they must be at least viewable. Jin Kang’s facial features were strange. He was fair and fat. Matching with his narrow eyes, it made Li Xiao feel uncomfortable. Secondly, Jin Kang wasn’t only ugly, but he also had a loose personal life. He would often change his girlfriend. He even dumped a few girlfriends who were already in talks of marriage.

Putting it in a nutshell, there was nothing good about Jin Kang, aside from his medical skills.

Jin Kang knitted his brows and sneered inwardly upon being rejected by Li Xiao. She was just an intern, and she was truly childish not to give him face.

However, that aroused his desire to conquer her even more.

“By the way, I’m going to Yuhang City to attend an internal medicine conference next month. Because I’m the speaker, I will need an assistant. If you’re interested…” Jin Kang gave out an invitation calmly.

Li Xiao’s eyes suddenly glowed, and began clapping. Under her lead, applauses covered the entire conference hall, overwhelming Jin Kang’s voice.

So Su Tao had arrived under Tao Qiuping’s lead. He wore an azure robe with his hair trimmed. He looked energetic, a young man in his early twenties brimming with vitality.

The nurses seated at the back couldn’t help whispering their praises, “Wow! He’s more handsome in real life than he looks in photos!”

“Look at how smitten you are. You’re drooling!”

“Screw you. I have a habit of drooling when I’m tired.”

“You’re just in love. You’re drooling everywhere.”

“Shut up, or I’ll pinch you to death!”

Jin Kang was paying attention to the conversation of the group of young nurses behind him. He never expected that these young nurses would be so filthy in their conversation.

Then again, it made sense for them to be smitten. Su Tao was attractive, and he would definitely be an idol if he’d gone into acting.

Even Li Xiao, who was sitting beside him, seemed to be smitten by Su Tao.

When Jin Kang saw this situation, he couldn’t contain the fire burning in his heart.

Su Tao naturally had no idea what was going on among the audience. He swept a glance out and was surprised. It was beyond his expectation that Tao Qiuping would get so many people to attend his lecture. He would be lying if he said that he wasn’t nervous.

Taking a deep breath, Su Tao tried to calm himself down.

Tao Qiuping first went on the podium and smiled, “I’m thrilled today to invite Mr. Su, a well-known TCM specialist in the country. Everyone must know about him, but I still want to introduce him…”

Tao Qiuping then went on introducing a series of Su Tao’s posts, which attracted a commotion among the audience. No one had expected that Su Tao would have such a huge reputation to his name.

After Tao Qiuping gave his introduction about Su Tao, Su Tao went up on the stage and smiled, “Let me give a summary of what Mr. Tao just said. I’m actually just a physician. As a physician, my pride is to treat patients. So this will be the main topic of my lecture. Now, I need a volunteer to be the first special guest of my lecture today!”

Su Tao’s words instantly caused a commotion among the audience.
