Chapter 83 - 83

I had gained power—the spiritual power of the Ocean Spirit. And I must say, it was nice hearing the system tell me that my Chi usage had dropped and my Chi efficiency had increased. That meant I could bend more water than before. Bloodbend more people than ever. And I could create some truly insane feats.

At my current level, I could do more damage than I ever could on a full moon night.

A few tears welled up in my eye.

My plan...

It was fucking worth it.

And my self-esteem? Higher than a weed's smoker.

That's how happy I was.

I rubbed my eyes.

'I'm so glad this worked... Now I can end this war, stop killing left and right, and just live happily—eating pizza. Maybe making crepes. Though I wonder where I could get baking powder... Shit. I shouldn't have skipped that festival. I'm hungry.'

I don't know why, but sometimes when I try to think, my stomach hijacks the whole process.

I sighed and shook my head.

I needed to move and help my fellow waterbenders fight the Fire Nation fleet.

I may have ruined their plan to kill the spirits before launching the invasion, but they'd already gone full-scale with the attack.

You know, there's a bit of wisdom: when you corner your enemy, they'll fight to the last drop of blood. And even if you win, the damage on your side will be huge.

But if you corner them from three sides and leave one open for escape, you can win with minimal losses.

In this full-scale attack, the Fire Nation soldiers—those not in on the grand plan—were going to fight like wild dogs. If I didn't help, our side would suffer way too much. I needed to go there and show them despair, make them flee. And when the eclipse day came, we'd be the ones invading.

I floated out of the pond and launched into the sky.

Then I flew south. And by south, I meant toward the outer walls.

From my vantage point—high up in the air—I saw something that made my skin crawl.

Thousands of troops were fighting. Hundreds of ships were closing in on the walls. And a massive black cloud polluted the air.

Looking closer, I could see people dying by the minute.

The waterbenders had the upper hand, but they weren't going to come out of this unscathed.

I needed to flip the tide of this war.

Even the Fire Nation might appreciate it, in a twisted way.

After all, they wouldn't want to win at the cost of most of their fleet.

And they definitely didn't want to lose.

But I wanted to win.

I dove down in front of a few ships, landing hard on the deck of one. My people were in the middle of fighting soldiers in black and red armor.

As I landed, every head turned to look at me. And in that instant, every enemy on the deck—except for my people, of course—was bloodbent. They collapsed, unconscious.

"Isn't that Ryuk?" one of the Water Tribe guys said.

"Mister Ryuk? Weren't you supposed to be sick tonight?" another asked.

I waved them off. "I was just having a bad shit. Forget my health—tie these guys up. Or kill them. Whatever."

I raised an eyebrow.

Looked like tonight was a great night for farming experience points.

If I had any pity left for the Fire Nation soldiers, it vanished the moment I heard those sweet notifications.

I moved from ship to ship, bloodbending their crews. I prioritized the ones where our people were fighting directly—especially those without waterbending. Helping them came first.

And soon enough, the momentum shifted.

[Waterbending EXP: ++++ ...]

Needless to say, I was raking in the points.

And the best part? I could bloodbend huge groups of people at once.

I was taking down hundreds in a single go.

But the real power of bloodbending wasn't just controlling enemies.

It was knocking them out instantly.

That's something even the Avatar would struggle to pull off.

Yeah, sure, they can level cities.

But wipe out an entire army in one instant? That's a bloodbender's specialty.

I floated from the 10th ship I had cleared and flew high into the sky.

From above, I could see our forces starting to outnumber the fleet—ten ships down had made a difference.

Time to crush the morale of the Fire Nation fleet.

I used my Chi bending to create an aura around me—blue like moonlit mist, glowing bright.

Everyone looked up.

And when they did, I focused.

A few soldiers floated... then ten... fifty... a hundred... three hundred... four hundred...

I was clearing out entire ships.

"What the fuck!!! I can't control my body!"

"Help! I can't move!"

"This full-scale attack was a mistake!"

"Mommy!"

Their screams filled the air.

I thought about delivering some dramatic line.

But I didn't.

Because I knew it would sound cool in my head and cringe out loud.

And I wasn't about to ruin this historic moment.

Maybe this is what great leaders think about.

But I didn't need to say anything. The Water Tribe handled the cheering for me.

"That's Ryuk! The rumors don't do him justice—he's stronger than they say!"

"Hahaha... Nobody would believe this. One man taking on hundreds..."

"He might not be able to take more. Let's help him finish the rest!"

Waves rose from the ocean, engulfing remaining ships and turning them to ice.

The rest of the ships turned, retreating.

I raised my hand and cracked my fingers. The ocean began to boil, steaming around the fleeing ships.

They'd lose their path—and maybe crash into each other.

"Just wait till I finish these people," I said, as the controlled soldiers began to pass out, dropping like rain.

And then, a deafening boom shook the sky.

Blue light filled my vision.

A high-voltage current hit me.

For a second, I blacked out—just enough to see the stream of lightning coming my way.

Lightning... Uncle Iroh... Zuko's training.

'Create a Chi path to discharge lightning.' I remembered.

And luckily, my Chi bending was high-level.

I pointed upward, and the lightning discharged from my body, arcing toward the sky.

For a moment, I thought I was done for.

My heart pounded like war drums, loud enough to hear with my own ears.

'Where's the motherfucker who shot that lightning?'

I lowered my hand and bloodbent everyone in the area it had come from, dragging them toward me through the air.
