Chapter 271 - 271: Save Me!

"Ralts..."

Ralts wasn't unconscious, but its condition was clearly not right. It was still being held by Sato, but its whole body was twitching, without even the strength to support itself.

Sato frowned. Ralts was a Psychic/Fairy-type Pokémon, and because of the Dark Energy, he naturally didn't have much fondness for this kind of Pokémon.

So when he saw Joseph and Mark being restrained, his heart flared in rage, with absolutely no thought of going easy or showing mercy.

In fact, because he had witnessed Ralts's strength, he didn't dare to hold back even a little; he attacked with full force right away.

Now, Sato was continuously channeling his Dark Energy, and the emotional feedback of the Dark Energy would naturally affect Ralts.

The emotional feedback from Ralts should have been contempt and disgust, corresponding respectively to its Psychic and Fairy types.

But what shocked Sato was that he faintly sensed a sliver of excitement... something only Dark-type Pokémon could reflect, while the disgust seemed to have weakened.

Type change?

Impossible!

"Is this the same Ralts from the Seafloor Cavern?" At that moment, Joseph and Mark came over. Joseph asked with lingering fear.

"Yeah. What exactly happened just now? How did it end up here?"

As Sato spoke, he placed the visibly suffering Ralts onto the couch. His hand remained on it, Dark Energy circulating at all times to prevent its escape.

"Just now, Kirlia and I were tidying up the living room. When we turned around, we saw Ralts already sitting on the couch, munching chips. I tried to call you, but the next second, I was already restrained. Even Kirlia couldn't move at all..."

"And then I came in and quickly shouted," Mark cut in proudly, feeling quite smug about his "quick" reaction.

"And then it flung you into the ceiling," Joseph rolled his eyes and retorted.

"Heh heh..." Mark scratched his head and fell silent.

"But Sato, how is Ralts now? Actually, at the beginning, even though it restrained Kirlia and me, we didn't sense any malice from it."

Joseph hesitated for a moment, but still voiced his thoughts. Kirlia beside him kept nodding as well, looking at Ralts with some concern.

"Is that so?"

Hearing Joseph say that, Sato also considered another possibility... 'Perhaps it was Mark's yelling that provoked Ralts into acting.'

And when he saw the two of them in danger, without a word he prepared to throw out Zoroark's Poké Ball to retaliate, this move had clearly angered Ralts.

Sato admitted he hadn't held back, but he didn't think he was wrong. If given another chance, he would still act the same way.

After all, why did that Ralts suddenly restrain people out of nowhere? If it had calmly come over to make friends, Sato wouldn't have freaked out and attacked it.

This was a Psychic-type Pokémon, at Elite Four level, after all. Sato wasn't stupid, why create such a powerful enemy for no reason?

"Hm?"

Just as Sato was thinking this, he suddenly felt his own Dark Energy slowly leaking out, flowing into Ralts's body.

Startled, Sato quickly cut off the output of the Dark Energy.

"Ral..."

Ralts tilted its head, its red-black eyes glaring resentfully at Sato, but it no longer had the strength to do anything.

Sato frowned. Ralts clearly hated him now.

From its current state, this wasn't just a simple illness anymore. If the Dark Energy's feedback was correct, then the very nature of Ralts was already beginning to change.

This transformation was, for now, neither clearly good nor bad; but Ralts was obviously in extreme pain.

The likelihood of a positive outcome... didn't seem high.

"Mark, go call Nurse Joy."

Joseph grabbed Mark, who was about to leave, then turned and asked seriously, "Sato, are you sure?"

Sato understood what he meant. Without saying much, he simply waved at Mark.

When Nurse Joy arrived, she took just one look before instructing Blissey to prepare the critical care room, then turned to ask Sato and the others about the situation.

"It's a bit complicated, just now..."

Joseph gave a brief summary. The strange "tale" left Nurse Joy dumbfounded, and for a moment, she had no idea how to deal with Ralts's condition.

Inside the treatment room, Ralts was hooked up to many sensors to help monitor the changes happening inside its body.

Though Sato and the others couldn't understand the data on the monitors, the roller-coaster-like curves rising and falling without any pattern clearly didn't look like a good sign.

The one who started all this...ahem ahem, Sato, waited silently outside.

Somehow, even though he had never really liked Pokémon with Ralts's typing, the emotional feedback from the Dark Energy made him uneasy.

And Ralts's condition was clearly worse than expected. After entering the room, Nurse Joy had been busy the entire time, but its status had not changed at all.

Sato frowned as he looked through the glass at the violently fluctuating data on the monitor, then released his Dark Energy.

The contempt emotion was still present, but the excitement and disgust fluctuated back and forth, never stable.

Another two hours passed, and even the all-powerful Nurse Joy seemed no longer all-powerful... Ralts's condition still showed no improvement.

Sato couldn't wait any longer. His thoughts were becoming clearer and more feasible in his mind.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Nurse Joy, I think I have an idea..."

Sato knocked on the glass of the treatment room and then explained his idea in the simplest words possible.

"In theory, it could work... come in."

Nurse Joy looked conflicted. After pondering for a moment, she let Sato in.

She had never encountered a situation like Ralts's before. Though Sato's idea was strange, it wasn't entirely baseless. With no other options, she decided to let him try.

Sato walked to the bedside, and seeing Ralts in even more pain, his heart sank.

Sato extended his right hand, Dark Energy slowly activated, and he gently placed his hand on Ralts's body.

Feeling the three forces clashing within Ralts's body, Sato located his own Dark Energy and tried to connect with it and draw it back.

The Dark Energy was not hard to find. When faced with Sato's command, it struggled slightly, then obediently prepared to be drawn back.

Sato raised an eyebrow, pleased with the response from his Dark Energy.

"Ralts!"

Suddenly, Ralts let out a sharp scream, startling Sato into immediately withdrawing his hand.

"It doesn't seem to be working. Sato, please step out for now," Nurse Joy sighed and asked him to leave the treatment room.

"Ra...l!"

At that moment, Ralts suddenly called out again, its red-black eyes looking at Sato: resentful, fearful, and... pleading.

"...Help me!"
