Chapter 608 - 607: You've Brought Shame to Dragon-Type Trainers

In another corner of the battlefield, the fight between Nidoking and Altaria had reached its peak.

Nidoking's move, Thunderbolt, landed directly on Altaria, dealing damage and completely enraging her. As one of the dominant Pokémon on Mythical Island, Altaria was not accustomed to being attacked.

She flew through the air with a movement that seemed to follow a peculiar rhythm.

Dragon Dance!

Altaria's fury caused her power to rise dramatically.

However, the fact that Nidoking had no trainer to guide it during the battle exposed its weaknesses. Having never faced a Pokémon like Altaria before, it didn't know what moves to anticipate and, therefore, couldn't formulate an effective strategy.

Nidoking, relying on what it knew, used Thunderbolt again, knowing it was effective against Flying-type Pokémon. However, Altaria, already empowered by Dragon Dance, easily dodged the attack without needing any direction from Cain.

Altaria then soared to the highest point of the hall, looking down at Nidoking from above with a cold, calculating gaze. There was no trace of mercy in Altaria's eyes.

Nidoking felt a primal fear, as though its body recognized the threat before its mind could. It was a natural sensation for a Pokémon facing one far more powerful.

Altaria, not giving Nidoking a chance to recover, executed her most devastating move: Dragon Rush. Transforming into a massive blue dragon, Altaria dove from the heights, aiming directly at Nidoking.

From Nidoking's perspective, the dragon's figure grew larger and larger until it finally struck with a deafening crash.

A third attack wasn't necessary. Under the power of Altaria's Dragon Rush, Nidoking was completely knocked out, collapsing to the ground and unable to continue fighting.

Meanwhile, in another corner of the battlefield, Cain's Slowking, under his precise command, had Charizard entirely dominated.

Even though Charizard wasn't a weak Pokémon, its lack of proper training was evident, leaving it vulnerable to Slowking, who subdued it with a combination of Psychic abilities and Water-type moves.

Charizard, a Fire- and Flying-type Pokémon, had everything to lose against a Water-type Pokémon like Slowking.

Pokémon: Charizard (Dark Green)

Gender: Male

Level: 47

Types: Fire + Flying

Ability: Blaze

Held Item: None

Egg Moves: Ancient Power, Crunch, Metal Claw

Basic Moves: Wing Attack, Flare Blitz, Dragon Claw, Shadow Claw, Air Slash, Scratch, Growl, Ember, Smokescreen, Dragon Rage, Scary Face, Fire Fang, Flame Burst, Slash, Flamethrower

Learned Moves: Fire Pledge, Snore, Defog, Heat Wave, Fire Punch

TM Moves: Protect, Roost, Aerial Ace, Steel Wing, Dragon Tail

Charizard's power came primarily from its level rather than proper training. Ren hadn't invested the effort needed to develop the Pokémon's potential, as evident in the lack of key Dragon-type moves.

Moreover, Charizard seemed to have been obtained irregularly—perhaps through Pokémon hunters or some low-profile purchase. This explained why its dragon lineage was neither pure nor strong.

Although Charizard excelled in Fire-type moves, its weakness against Slowking's Water-type attacks was glaringly obvious, leaving it helpless.

Cain watched the fight with disdain. Ren, his opponent, appeared completely overwhelmed, unable to devise a strategy to counter Slowking's advantage.

Unlike Cain, Ren seemed to lack an instinct for strategy. His commands were basic, focused only on direct attacks without any planning or rhythm.

This made Cain wonder how someone so incompetent could have ended up working alongside Regi.

The answer was simple: Regi had exploited Ren's impulsive nature to manipulate him.

Ren, with his lack of judgment and tendency to be driven by emotion, was easy to control. But now, Ren had become a liability—a useless partner in a critical situation.

Meanwhile, Slowking continued to dominate Charizard. Under Cain's orders, Slowking had developed a special technique that combined its Water-type moves with its Psychic powers, making its Water-type attacks even more devastating.

Slowking charged a modified Water Gun, gathering water in its mouth and, using its Psychic power, launched the attack with incredible force. The water jet hit Charizard directly, who was already weakened, leaving it completely defeated.

The flame that normally burned on Charizard's tail was extinguished entirely, marking its definitive loss.

After this victory, Slowking reached Level 45, thanks to the experience gained in recent battles.

Cain looked at Charizard's defeated body with disinterest. He saw no value in keeping such a mediocre Pokémon on his team and decided not to retain it.

Charizard held no value for Cain but would for certain collectors in other regions, like Hoenn, where trainers were willing to pay large sums for Pokémon labeled as "dragons," regardless of their true potential.

Cain then turned to Ren, who remained frozen, unable to react to the massive power gap between him and Cain.

Cain couldn't hide his disappointment. "You call yourself a dragon-type specialist? You've brought shame to all trainers of this type," he said coldly, referring to other trainers he knew who truly deserved that title.

Before Ren could respond, he was attacked by Honchkrow under Cain's orders, and his defeat was swift and final.

After dealing with Ren, Cain inspected his opponent's Pokéballs and took particular interest in the one containing Flygon, a Pokémon Cain intended to use in the future.

Although many of Ren's Pokémon were high-level, Cain considered them poorly trained.

His plan was to sell them later, once he returned to Hoenn, a region where the demand for imposing-looking Pokémon was high, regardless of their training.

Gengar, Cain's Pokémon, returned shortly after the battle.
