Chapter 612 - 611: Am I Just a Hair?

With a touch of curiosity, Cain slowly extended his psychic powers.

He attempted to use telepathy.

And then... he simply passed out.

He collapsed directly onto Mew's bed.

Slowking, who was watching Cain lying unconscious on the bed, looked slightly puzzled. However, thanks to its psychic perception, it knew Cain wasn't in danger; his mind had just received too much information, causing some mental confusion.

So, Slowking sat beside Cain, waiting patiently.

At that moment, Cain felt as if he had entered a strange place, where everything was very blurry.

However, he could sense the presence of a small pink Pokémon next to him.

It was probably Mew.

Surely it was Mew...

Cain tried his best to see his surroundings clearly, but the more he tried, the blurrier everything became.

The only thing he could see somewhat clearly was Mew, standing before him.

Mew was small, with a long tail, like a tiny, adorable pink kitten.

Cain attempted to move but discovered he couldn't control his body. In fact... he didn't even have a body.

He didn't know how much time had passed; Cain had completely lost track of time. He only knew he was accompanying Mew, wandering through that strange place. Sometimes they changed locations, but Cain couldn't distinguish where they were because his vision remained unclear.

One day, Cain sensed that Mew suddenly became very restless, and it seemed as if a huge rift had appeared in the sky.

Cain couldn't see clearly—maybe it was a black hole or something else.

A Pokémon, seemingly black, emerged from the rift. Although its body had other colors, Cain couldn't distinguish them clearly, but he vaguely felt it had a pair of wings.

Mew and that Pokémon began to battle.

Compared to the size of that Pokémon, Mew seemed tiny. However, despite not being very skilled in combat, Mew decided to face that Pokémon.

The end result was that Mew ended up injured, while the other Pokémon returned to the rift.

The rift closed, and Mew returned to its den. It lay down on its bed and carefully licked its wounds, as a thread of golden blood slowly flowed from the injury.

Mew licked away all the blood, except for a tiny thread that fell onto Cain's body. For reasons unknown, Cain slowly fell onto the bed without Mew noticing.

It turned out... Cain had lived all that time from the perspective of a single hair of Mew. The thread of golden and red blood that had touched his body now showed only red; the golden hue, representing the sacred, had disappeared.

A moment later, Cain slowly opened his eyes and saw Slowking sitting beside him, clearly seeing his surroundings.

His head hurt a lot, as if an inexplicable pressure was enveloping it, like a massive amount of things had been shoved into his mind.

Five minutes later, Cain, with a slightly pale face, finally recovered.

He had lived an entire life as one of Mew's hairs.

It had definitely been a very strange experience.

He felt a little odd.

In fact, using his psychic powers to try to communicate with that hair imbued with Mew's blood had been very reckless.

However, Cain hadn't anticipated what would happen. Fortunately, he was a psychic, which allowed him to endure it somehow.

Though his head still hurt, it was much better than before.

He still held a pair of tweezers, which he used to grasp the hair. Now, for some reason, he felt a strange sense of familiarity with it.

"System, name this object 'Mew's Blood'!" Cain ordered the system.

"Beep! Name successfully assigned. Registered in the database."

After having the system perform another scan, Cain could see that the description was no longer as vague as before.

"System, log all the additional memory I've acquired into my mind. Analyze everything revealed in those memories and create a special file named 'Mew,'" Cain instructed the system again.

"Beep! Task created. Initiating scan!"

How the system would extract that additional memory from his mind was not something Cain worried about.

He rubbed his temples and slowly stood up.

Truth be told, Mew's bed was really comfortable, both when he was a hair and now after regaining his body.

Cain took a small sealed glass box from his storage space, placed the hair inside, closed it, and carefully stored it in a corner of the storage space.

It was probably the most valuable treasure Cain had obtained during his visit to Mew Island.

While Cain slept, the system had already scanned the entire room. Apart from the hair, it found nothing else useful.

Cain decided to leave. As for how Team Rocket would find Mew's DNA, they surely had their own methods.

Even if they had to dig to the bottom, Giovanni would ensure he got what he wanted.

With Slowking's Teleport, Cain and the Pokémon vanished from the room.

Cain now had an idea of how to use that hair. Having experienced the life of one, he had gained a deeper understanding of its workings.

However, this place was clearly not the right one.

After Cain left, the room's door closed again, and faint spatial fluctuations appeared within. Neither Cain nor Slowking noticed.

When Cain opened his eyes again, they were near the Tree of Life.

There were no longer many wild Pokémon around; most had been hunted by Regi and the others, making it relatively safe to stay there temporarily.

Cain summoned his Honchkrow and the rest of his Pokémon.

Then, he sat under a large tree to rest. His head still ached, and he needed to resolve it.

He closed his eyes, and the scenes from before reappeared in his mind.

Only now, unlike before, everything was like a memory.

Gradually, Cain began to process those memories.

Under his perception, he felt his psychic powers seemed to have reached a new limit.

As he processed more memories, his psychic powers began to increase.

This pleasantly surprised Cain.

Given his innate ability, increasing his psychic powers was only possible with certain treasures. There was no other way.

He didn't expect that the memory of that hair could have such an effect.

Of course, it could also be due to Mew's blood imbued in the hair.

As a psychic deity, Mew clearly had unique characteristics.

As night fell, Cain woke up, distributed food to his Pokémon, and resumed meditation.

That day had been very eventful; he had almost uncovered Mythical Island's greatest secret.

As for Regi and Glacius, who were licking their wounds and recovering their strength, Cain wasn't concerned about them.

The night passed in absolute tranquility.
