Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom-Chapter 624 - 623: Blow After Blow!
Chapter 624 - 623: Blow After Blow!
Several fireballs, resembling meteors, appeared in the air and scattered in different directions, though some, under Garchomp's control, concentrated toward Slowking.
After using Trick Room, Slowking felt its normally heavy body become as light as a piece of paper.
A robust piece of paper?
With just a small effort in its steps, Slowking accelerated to its maximum speed, moving swiftly within the Trick Room's effect zone to dodge the Draco Meteor attack.
"Garchomp, Rock Slide! Block its path," Cynthia commanded quickly.
She had seen Trick Room used in other battles and knew how to respond.
Since Garchomp's speed had decreased, it was best to stay put and face attacks from a distance. Garchomp wasn't afraid of such confrontations.
Although Slowking moved quickly within the Trick Room's effect zone, it had never fought at that speed before, which made it a bit uncomfortable.
While it dodged most of the meteors, when Garchomp used Rock Slide, it completely blocked Slowking's escape route.
"Slowking, use Protect and then Nasty Plot!" Cain shouted.
With no other choice, Slowking used Protect to block the attack.
Cain started to realize that facing a Garchomp, a Pokémon with such significant physical advantages, required more than simple attacks from Slowking.
If Slowking knew Ice Beam, Cain thought they could slowly wear Garchomp down by keeping their distance. But since neither Psychic nor Water attacks offered a significant advantage, it was difficult to win in a direct confrontation.
Given Garchomp's physical strength, a duel of moves would likely result in Slowking's defeat.
Instead of exchanging ranged moves, Cain decided it was better to fight an intense and direct battle.
"Garchomp, Earthquake!"
Just as Slowking finished using Protect and was about to perform Nasty Plot, Cynthia seized the opportunity and ordered Garchomp to use Earthquake.
There was no denying that Cynthia, a future champion, already displayed exceptional battlefield control.
However, Cain, with more experience in life-and-death situations, reacted quickly: "Slowking, levitate and move toward it! Use Ice Punch!"
This was the only Ice-type move Slowking knew at the time. Although it wasn't as powerful as when used by Weavile, Slowking had learned it after extensive training under Weavile's guidance.
Slowking dodged the Earthquake, but it couldn't execute Nasty Plot.
Cynthia watched as Slowking charged toward Garchomp and smiled.
Garchomp had never been afraid of close combat.
"Garchomp, Dragon Breath!"
As Slowking approached, Garchomp released dark blue energy from its mouth, resembling flames.
The Dragon Breath hit Slowking successfully, causing it considerable pain.
With one eye closed, enduring the pain, Slowking didn't stop its attack.
Boom!
Boom!
It wasn't just one Ice Punch but two—one with each hand.
As with Drapion, Cain had taught his Pokémon that if they could attack with both hands, they shouldn't limit themselves to one. And if they could use their feet too, they shouldn't hesitate.
No matter how strong the opponent, they should always attack with everything they had.
Both Ice Punches landed on Garchomp.
Although Slowking wasn't an Ice-type Pokémon, Garchomp's quadruple weakness to Ice-type energy made these attacks very effective.
Even so, Garchomp's tough body endured the blows.
"Garchomp, Dragon Claw!"
"Slowking, Ice Punch!"
Thanks to the speed advantage provided by Trick Room, Slowking always managed to strike Garchomp first, weakening its attacks.
At the same time, Slowking's psychic energy surrounded its body, hindering Garchomp's movements and reducing the power of its attacks.
What happened next was...
"Garchomp, Dragon Breath!"
"Slowking, Ice Punch!"
"Garchomp, Dragon Pulse!"
"Slowking, Ice Punch!"
"Garchomp, Dragon Rage!"
"Slowking, Ice Punch!"
...
In summary, Ice Punch for everything!
The crowd in the stands was thrilled to watch the battle.
Cynthia couldn't believe it. Was it possible that Slowking was obsessed with Ice Punch? Although Garchomp had a significant weakness to Ice, Cain was shamelessly exploiting this advantage.
This was the first time that Slowking, usually a long-range attacker on Cain's team, had fought so directly.
Blow after blow!
This is how a true fighter battles!
If it weren't for Garchomp's extreme resilience, any other Pokémon would have already been defeated by Slowking's attacks.
Trick Room had sped up Slowking and slowed down Garchomp.
Additionally, Slowking was using its psychic power to disrupt Garchomp, reducing the damage it received and enhancing the effectiveness of its attacks.
Although Slowking wasn't directly using Psychic-type attacks, its psychic energy was always supporting it.
This allowed Slowking to sustain such a prolonged fight against Garchomp.
But in the end, Cynthia couldn't take it anymore.
The abuse of Ice Punch had gone too far. Cain had found Garchomp's weak point and was exploiting it to the fullest.
"Garchomp, Outrage!"
Outrage, one of the most powerful Dragon-type moves.
Although it's extremely strong, it has a drawback: the Pokémon using it will lose control, attacking frantically until the move's effect ends or it's interrupted.
Most trainers avoid using it since losing control of their Pokémon is a significant risk.
Cynthia hadn't wanted to use it initially, but after seeing how Slowking abused Ice Punch, she couldn't help herself.
If it was about acting recklessly, who was afraid of whom?
Outrage was the answer!
"Stop! I surrender. Come back, Slowking," Cain said quickly. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Before Garchomp could execute Outrage, Cain made the decision without any shame.
Slowking, who had enjoyed the fight, simply shook its hands, dispelled the Trick Room effect, and used Teleport to return to Cain's side.
Garchomp, wide-eyed, looked at Cynthia as if to ask, "Do you still want me to use Outrage?"
