Chapter 536 - N’s Awakening

"So this is Team Plasma..."

Staring at the screen of his tablet, N was shaken to the core as he watched the massive Plasma Frigate descend and unleash a devastating freeze cannon, attempting to engulf all of Opelucid City in ice.

He also saw footage of the attack on the Nacrene Museum by Team Plasma, along with waves of online condemnation aimed at them.

In an instant, N's belief in Team Plasma's noble ideals shattered as he saw them become the target of public outcry.

Their actions now stood in stark contrast to their stated mission—completely opposed, even.

Scene after scene of reality played before him, and with each one, N's worldview crumbled further.

"N..."

His half-sisters, Barbera and Helena, watched him with deep concern.

Unlike N, they had endured far less of Ghetsis's indoctrination. Their understanding of Team Plasma and their foster father's true motives was far clearer.

To prevent N from falling further into deception, the sisters had taken advantage of the chaos within Team Plasma to sneak into his confinement and show him the truth.

There was no doubt.

This truth left an immense impact on N.

He had once hoped to persuade Ghetsis to use Team Plasma's resources to build a haven where Pokémon could live freely—a sanctuary for those who had suffered.

But now...

It turned out that Team Plasma was the very cause of those tragedies, all while parading around with a "save the Pokémon" façade!

N slowly lowered his head, his teal eyes hidden beneath the brim of his hat, and gripped the tablet tightly.

The footage continued to play.

Johan, alongside his Pokémon and Mewtwo, boldly resisting the Plasma Frigate, came into view.

In that moment—

A glimmer of light flashed in N's eyes, like the last hope in his heart.

Even as Team Plasma, the organization he had spent over a decade with, engaged in the very horrors he wished to stop, Johan still stood unwavering—using his strength to help Pokémon and others.

At least someone still believed in him!

Taking a deep breath, N relaxed slightly and forced a smile for his worried sisters.

"I'm fine."

Barbera and Helena exchanged glances. Barbera bit her lip and whispered, "N, you need to leave this place."

Huh?

N was stunned for a moment, then quickly understood.

He wasn't stupid—quite the opposite. He was far more perceptive than most.

Thanks to their warning, he immediately realized that with Team Plasma in deep trouble, the best way to shift blame was to hand over their "King."

If he got arrested, Team Plasma could retreat underground again.

He hadn't thought of this before, blinded by the belief that Team Plasma was a force for good.

Or perhaps... he had tried to force himself to believe it.

But now that illusion had shattered, and the truth became crystal clear.

N wasn't afraid of being captured.

He had grown up locked away in a dark, tiny room, with only broken toys and abused Pokémon as company.

But he couldn't afford to be captured.

He still had dreams to fulfill. He still had to help more Pokémon. He couldn't be made into Team Plasma's scapegoat.

"What about you two?" he asked.

Helena quickly interjected, "Don't worry about us. We have our own way out."

That made sense.

He was the real key to Team Plasma.

With that in mind, N didn't hesitate any longer. He looked northwest.

"All this time, I've felt like a voice from that direction was calling me. This time, I'm going to find out what it is."

And after that—he'd find Johan.

With that thought, N hurriedly bid farewell to his sisters and ran out of the castle.

Most of the Plasma members didn't dare stop him. Those who did, couldn't overcome the strength of N's Pokémon.

Meanwhile—

After N departed, Barbera and Helena began creating a ruckus within the castle to draw attention away from him.

They could have escaped, but that would've risked N being hunted immediately. Instead, they stayed behind to cause chaos and buy him time.

This was something N hadn't anticipated.

"N, run fast. You have to get away from here."

"N, don't ever come back."

Barbera and Helena clasped hands, placing their hopes in the brother they loved.

Opelucid City.

Living in the same villa with Johan and the others, Wanlong once again approached him, clutching a freshly completed novel.

"Johan, could you give me some feedback?"

Johan looked helplessly toward Cynthia, only to receive an encouraging smile as she continued playing with a young Larvitar.

Good grief...

Johan had originally been intrigued by Wanlong's novels.

In a Pokémon world with so little entertainment, having something to read was a blessing.

Plus, Wanlong was a famous novelist.

And not just that—she was known for her stunning figure, a far cry from the flat-chested Caitlin.

But still—

He never understood why Wanlong was both a novelist and a Ghost-type trainer... until he read her books.

They were filled with bizarre, eerie tales and legends—exactly the kind of stuff that gave you nightmares if read at night.

Johan strongly suspected the reason he dreamt of being attacked by Mega Mewtwo X was because of her book.

With no way out, he reluctantly accepted the novel, all while Wanlong gazed at him expectantly.

Her stories weren't that scary.

But in a world like theirs, imagination was a dangerous thing.

Once you let it run wild, even your friends could start to look suspicious.

Thankfully, salvation arrived.

Champion of Unova—Alder!

When Alder learned about the crisis in Opelucid City, he had immediately planned to rush over.

But the crisis ended almost as quickly as it began. By the time Alder left Nacrene, Shaga had already informed him it was over.

Still, Alder understood just how dangerous the situation had been.

It wasn't an exaggeration to say that without Johan's foresight and everyone's efforts, Opelucid City would've suffered massive damage.

So, once things were settled in Nacrene, Alder made his way to Opelucid.

"Mr. Alder, come, come, sit!"

Johan eagerly led him to a table in the yard.

Meanwhile, Gengar had just finished playing with Dragonite and crept over.

"Ha ha ha—" Alder's laugh was as hearty as ever. "No need to be so polite, Johan."

His enthusiasm caught even Alder a bit off-guard.

"Of course, of course..."

Johan glanced at Wanlong, now deep in thought again, and sighed in relief.

Then he saw Alder—

Alder: "zzZ"

Urshifu: "zzZ"

Honestly, if you didn't know better, you'd think they were related.

"Oh, right." Alder suddenly snapped awake and sat up. "Johan, I heard the International Police are setting up a special task force for Team Plasma. The leader's spot is open. Interested?"

A task force under the International Police?

These were usually temporary units, but with enormous power—like the UB task force in Alola, headed by Battle Tower boss Anabel, who had access to nearly the entire Alola League's resources.

So this new unit? Definitely no lightweight.

Still...

Let Alder deal with Team Plasma.

"Not interested," Johan replied instantly.

"All right."

Alder didn't press.

After all, it wasn't like he was offering him the position of Unova's Champion or Elite Four.

"One more thing."

"Hm?"

"Drayden from Icirrus City says there's been strange activity at Dragonspiral Tower."

Dragonspiral Tower?

Johan blinked.

That was where Zekrom was said to be sealed.

Strange activity?

But hadn't Zekrom already appeared—back when Johan arrived in Lacunosa Town?

Unless... Reshiram is the one sealed in that tower?

Either way—

Not his business.

He just wanted a peaceful tournament experience in Unova, and the opening was just days away!

"Oh! Wanlong, I just thought of a new idea!"

He bolted to his feet.

"Really?" Wanlong's eyes sparkled behind her glasses.

As Johan dashed off, Alder looked bewildered.

???

Where'd that enthusiasm go?

Alder scratched his head, still mid-thought. "All I was going to say is... Dragonspiral Tower has a long history. It's full of Ghost-types. Might be useful for your Gengar."

"Ka-kaah!"

This content is taken from freёnovelkiss.com.

Gengar, hiding nearby, perked up at the mention of a reward and emerged from the shadows.

"Gengaaa~~"

Seeing Gengar, Alder chuckled warmly.

"Ka-kaah~~"

Gengar waved back with a grin.

After a brief stare-off—

"Oh, right." Alder pulled out a fist-sized, jagged black stone and handed it to Gengar. "Same deal for you and Johan. Help him keep it safe."

"Ka-kaah?"

Gengar accepted the stone, puzzled.

What was this?

He even considered licking it.

"I don't know either. But apparently Team Plasma wasn't just after meteorites at the Nacrene Museum. This was something else they wanted."

Alder stretched and added, "Maybe Johan can figure it out. I'll leave it with you two."

Hmm...

Gengar nodded.
