POSSESSION: The Hidden Omega In All Alphas' Academy [BL]-Chapter 171: Go Now
Chapter 171: Chapter 171: Go Now
[FLASHBACK: 14 YEARS AGO, Remsworth Mansion]
Aiden’s unexpected mumble froze Barnes from shock, while he stared at his wide-open brown eyes twinkling with hope. Despite trying to shake his grip away from him, Barnes muttered in a reluctant voice, "I...I am sorry, M-Master Aiden...but I can’t do that—"
"If you won’t go, then I don’t think I can go as well."
Aiden shrugged his small shoulders while mumbling in a nonchalant voice as if his actions had put Barnes in a difficult spot. Blinking at him with confusion, Barnes still tried to persuade him giving his reasons, "Master Aiden...you’re also aware of the rules of this mansion, right? None of the housekeepers, except the head butler or head maid, are allowed to go even near Madam or Master’s room without their permission. Even after knowing this, how can I possibly—"
"Then you can just stand outside the room, bunny...and I will go show the painting to Mom." Still sounding very persistent from his tone, Aiden gave his rigid answer while clenching the cuff of his shirt, "Please bunny...I am scared to go there alone...What if Mom scolded me there? At least...I will have you around who can give me courage."
While gazing into his hopeful brown orbs, Barnes eventually had to give up since he couldn’t harshly reject this innocent child’s plea. Despite knowing none of the butlers or maids would ever permit him to do so, Barnes still inhaled a deep breath as if he was bracing himself up.
"Alright, I will accompany you there, because it’s your birthday today Master Aiden. But...only for today, okay? After that, I hope you won’t ask me something like this—"
"No I won’t, so please, let’s go?" Smiling radiantly at his acceptance, Aiden held his hand tight before they marched to grab the painting and afterward, towards the third floor of the mansion, where Lorelia’s room was located.
Indeed it was a dangerous risk for Barnes, but watching Aiden’s smiling adorable face was able to drain out the fear from deep inside him. He knew they had to keep it a secret from the other servants of the mansion, and so, he tactfully thought of taking the separate stairs to reach the third floor, instead of the one which was located on the main hall room.
Aiden was beaming with happiness while holding the chart paper in his small grip. When they managed to reach Lorelia’s room, just as stated, Barnes waited outside the door, signaling Aiden to go inside first after confirming she was inside.
"Mom?"
Opening the door with a small sound, when Aiden excitedly walked in, he saw Lorelia seated on the velvet couch next to the giant bed, while chugging down whiskey from the bottle directly. She had a distressed look apparent on her pale face and was looking at a picture opened on her tabloid.
Upon noticing Aiden had walked inside her room, she lifted the tabloid down on the small table before her and clenched her jaws hard, before she rolled her eyes angrily at him, "Where are your manners? Don’t you know how to knock before coming in?"
Just hearing her grumble, Aiden was able to realize his mother was in a bitter mood right now. He felt a little scared inside, but clenching the chart paper tight in his grasp, he inhaled a deep breath, reminiscing the boost of courage Barnes had given to him before coming here.
"Mom...I...wanted to show you something..."
His low mumble trembled a little when Aiden tried to walk a few steps closer, but when he tried doing so, Lorelia exhaled an irked sigh and chugged down another sip of whiskey from the bottle, before she grunted, "You can just wait till the party starts and show that to me then. Right now, I am not in the mood to deal with your blabbering. So, just leave me alone."
’Does Mom...really love me?’ The doubt unknowingly knocked inside his mind, making Aiden frown on his small face after getting her blatant rejection.
But soon after when he was reminded of what Barnes had told him before, he consoled his naive heart, ’Maybe she’s tired from working too much for me. Even though she’s tired...she didn’t forget to come home on my birthday...that shows she really loves me, right?’
"Have you turned deaf today? Didn’t you hear my words? I said go, now." Watching Aiden standing still like a frozen sculpture, Lorelia let out a vexed grunt to scare him off a little so that he would leave the room, just like she wanted.
But instead of doing that, Aiden tossed a soft smile on his lips when he mumbled, "But Mom...I want to show this to you...right now."
.....
Standing outside the room, Barnes was anxiously fidgeting while keeping his sharp gaze around to make sure none of the servants would discover him standing outside the Madam’s room. Earlier, he had heard of some scary stories from the other maids that Madam would go berserk if any of her commands were not properly followed inside the mansion.
Rumors even had that it was solely because of her temper, Master avoided coming home most days of the year, but no one could ever commit the blunder of saying those words right in front of Lorelia’s face.
While standing by the door, Barnes was trying hard to hear the conversation going inside, since he had always felt overprotective of Aiden, considering him as his treasure, and the only family he was now left with in this world.
He knew Aiden was scared to face his mother, so leaning his ears closer when he tried to overhear outside the door once again, suddenly his blood turned cold, with shivers crawled down his spine as he heard footsteps approaching towards that room!
TAP TAP TAP!
Indeed, it was the clear sound of someone climbing up the stairs to head this way, and the quick realization panicked him inside badly, ’Damn it! W-Who’s coming here at this hour!?’
