Chapter 61

On a rare day off, Jiang Yan ate the nutritious breakfast prepared by her younger lover while her heart wondered that she had never gifted anything to Cheng Shuheng. She decided to take him shopping for some new clothes.

Cheng Shuheng, usually obedient, surprisingly argued with Jiang Yan at the mall.

He wanted them to wear couple outfits, but Jiang Yan found the patterns of little cats eating little fish, and little rabbits with carrots too childish and demeaning to her status.

Cheng Shuheng claimed that if she refused to wear matching outfits, it meant she didn't love him or value him.

Jiang Yan thought quarreling was beneath her dignity, so she sat there regally and coldly, refusing to wear the outfits or speak.

She genuinely wondered why Cheng Shuheng had time to argue with her instead of secretly working on projects at the company.

It was rare to see the man throwing a tantrum, especially when the woman held the upper hand and employed the cold violence tactic. The salespeople kept glancing at them, finding their strong woman pairing novel yet loving.

Of course, later the General Manager had to plead with them humbly before the salespeople realized the mall was actually their enterprise.

To Cheng Shuheng, this was more than just an issue of couple outfits. The key point was why Jiang Yan didn't want to wear them with him.

"You don't love me anymore," Cheng Shuheng sat across from Jiang Yan, his gaze desperate, his tone plaintive.

Jiang Yan calmly looked at him without speaking.

Cheng Shuheng then fell into deeper despair.

The General Manager brought out two sets of clothes to smooth things over: "Ms. Jiang, it was our side that made inappropriate arrangements, focusing on the cute and sweet elements without considering your needs. How about these two sets with a simpler design that can also meet this gentleman's requirements? Would you like to try them?"

Jiang Yan glanced at the black outfits and thought they were barely acceptable. She took the clothes and went to the fitting room.

With the boss appeased, the General Manager visibly relaxed and was about to persuade Cheng Shuheng when she noticed the man, who had been teary-eyed and pitiful just moments ago, stood up nonchalantly and picked up the clothes.

His steps were leisurely, his expression calm, with a satisfied smile on his lips, as if his scheme had finally succeeded.

A devious man indeed.

The General Manager shook her head silently, knowing better than to meddle in their affairs.

The couple outfits were loose and simple yet sporty, different from Jiang Yan's usual style.

The fitting tops and pants subtly outlined her slender figure, and the athletic style made Jiang Yan appear less distant, more youthful and beautiful, like a cool college belle.

Cheng Shuheng's eyes lit up as he walked over in the matching outfit, tugging at her sleeve and meekly apologizing: "Sister, you look good in this."

Jiang Yan hadn't really been angry, just unwilling to indulge him. Hearing his words, she gracefully stepped down: "Then let's buy them. See if you need anything else, just take it and put it on my personal account."

Cheng Shuheng smiled innocently and wholeheartedly: "Thank you, sister."

Jiang Yan thought the matter was settled, though she vaguely sensed the General Manager's strange looks towards them.

Until night fell.

After washing up, Jiang Yan found Cheng Shuheng's silence unsettling. Looking up, she saw him lying on the bed, staring at her intently.

Jiang Yan paused, about to ask what was wrong, when she noticed his casual bedding revealing glimpses of his toned body in a distinct allure.

"You're... not wearing clothes?" Jiang Yan asked hesitantly.

Unexpectedly, those words seemed to flip a switch.

Cheng Shuheng's gaze flickered as he bit his lip in seeming embarrassment, as if mustering courage before speaking: "I want to serve you, sister."

Serve? In what way?

Before Jiang Yan could respond, Cheng Shuheng explained: "You've helped my mother with her medical bills, given me a job and money, even bought me clothes, but I can't give you anything. I want to give myself to you..."

You know I like you, yet you torment me like this?

Not truly wanting to experience the physical pleasures a kept man could offer, Jiang Yan demurred: "You're still young and in school. I don't want to touch you."

"I'm already of legal marriage age. I can get married if you want..."

Not wanting to fully understand his implication, Jiang Yan made a last-ditch effort, seeing his ardent gaze as she spoke sincerely: "I'm not ready for that. You know how kind I've been to you."

Seeing her younger lover about to protest, Jiang Yan, as the wealthy benefactor, forcefully ended the subject: "Time for sleep! We'll discuss this another time."

Cheng Shuheng closed his mouth, but his gaze carried substance. Unable to bear it, Jiang Yan turned over and wrapped herself in the blanket.

Cheng Shuheng suddenly made a strange sound.

Jiang Yan turned to find she had pulled all the covers over, leaving his body exposed to the air.

She silently returned the blanket, muttering a reminder: "Put some clothes on."

The other side seemed dejected for a moment before the rustling of clothes could be heard.

Jiang Yan had an exhausting day and quickly fell asleep.

Cheng Shuheng wore a sleeveless top, revealing toned muscular arms, with tousled black hair and a tender gaze as he drew close to watch her sleeping face. Like a doting newlywed husband.

Yet he suddenly chuckled softly, pulling the cocoon closer before lying down contentedly.

Now he was the sly gilt cage once more.
