Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 130: Surprise Appearance?
As much of a bullshitter as Rael was, he actually didn't lie about the fact that the Duke's pants were on the wrong way.
Yet he only found out after cussing out half of his own envoy, thinking they were gaslighting him.
Still, Rael could only scoff at his behavior.
An entitled noble. Why exactly did Halemire send such an idiot? Rael pondered as he led them to some random guest room.
There were a few people already inside, but he told them to kindly get out, then seated the Yrgon envoys around a round table, and of course, Aria too.
Despite their grand entrance, there were only five of them, with Duke Lorox allegedly being the head of the whole envoy.
However, Rael had followed a certain tradition for a long time.
And that was to simply sit in silence for a single minute and observe the body language of all the people present.
Negotiation authority goes to... Rael's gaze slowly darted Between everyone present, until eventually, it landed on an ordinary-looking man.
He was dressed up as a servant, and he likely was supposed to be the duke's attendant.
However, he was also the only person—aside from Rael—who was observing the others.
Combined with the fact that his Primordial Sight flared up when he looked at him, it was more than enough to make Rael suspicious.
The moment the 'servant' caught onto what Rael was doing, he immediately tried to act normal by attending to the duke's needs.
But Rael simply stood up and clapped his hands before pointing at everyone but the servant. "You four. Out."
"What!" the duke stood up. "How dare you show such disrespect!?"
"For the love of god..." Rael sighed.
He was getting a little tired of all these idiots underestimating him; therefore, he merely smiled and met the duke's gaze
Immediately, the duke's eyes widened as he suddenly recoiled.
"Y-You... what did you do!?"
<Primordial Sight has greatly affected the target!>
"Pfftt..." Rael held back a chuckle, then shot a glance at the other three people, who quickly scurried to their feet and carried the duke out.
I guess my Mental Decay option picked him up as an enemy. How neat, Rael thought as he nonchalantly sat down and glanced toward the servant.
"Sit. We need to have a little chat."
The servant stared at him for a few moments before letting out a chuckle.
"You're sharp, just as King Halemire mentioned," the servant said, sat down, and put his hand over his face.
Immediately, he ripped off the face mask he was wearing, revealing short black hair and familiar white eyes.
"Y-You're..." Aria's eyes widened. "Vonire Virelorn? I thought you were banished?"
"Of course." Vonire nodded, turning to Rael. "I was banished from Yrgon, but not from Celestara. Halemire said you're an interesting king, so I was wondering if you would be interested in my services?"
"First of all..." Rael trailed off. "I need some context. Why were you banished? And who are you to the king, exactly?"
"I killed one of the royal consorts. She was a total bitch and wanted to kill my niece, so I infiltrated the palace, poisoned her, and simply left the kingdom. As for who I am to the king? I'm his younger brother," Vonire explained.
"Good riddance." Rael chuckled. "I'm surprised there are so many of you. Not only does Halemire have a gazillion children, he also has some family left over. I'm envious."
"Don't be, he's a scumbag," Aria added as she reached down for the cup of water that was in front of Rael, and without wasting a moment, she threw it straight at the wall.
Immediately, the water spilled—yet it swiftly turned green. Then it began melting the palace's wall, almost like it was acid.
Though I'm immune to acid. Rael sighed as he tapped his finger on the table. "You're an idiot, a wildcard, and someone I can kill with a flick of my finger. Tell me, what kind of power play are you trying to pull here?"
"I can kill enemies for you. I doubt a king such as yourself truly wishes to dirty your hands—then why not let me do it? All I ask in return is a home, some women, and a handsome salary," Vonire offered confidently.
Right... Rael rolled his eyes.
He was glad he could tell apart lies, and this guy was nothing but a liar.
"I appreciate the offer, Vonire. However, you're of no use to me, so I'd appreciate it if you'd see yourself out," Rael said as he stood up, preparing to leave.
Aria seemed satisfied with his decision, so she followed right after.
However, just as he was about to step through the door, Rael halted.
Something didn't quite add up.
Rael would normally kill guys like these, but he let him be just because he was related to Halemire. And now that he thought about it further, he found it odd.
But after taking a few moments to gather his thoughts, Rael's eyes widened.
Vonire purposely sabotaged his image so Rael would decline his proposal.
Added to that fact, it was very like he had predicted that Aria was going to throw the cup because of his shit reputation.
"Pfft... hahahaha!" Rael burst out laughing, puzzling the two of them.
"Is everything alright...?" Aria asked. "You've been acting... strange ever since earlier."
"No, I'm fine. I just didn't expect this guy to play such an interesting card," Rael replied and walked back to his seat before curiously glancing at Vonire.
"You're a sly bastard. I hate it, but I also like it. You're in," Rael stated flatly.
"W-What!?" Aria shot up. "What are you saying!? Did you not see what he did!?"
"Yeah... I'm afraid your brain might be a little jumbled up, King Sutekh," Vonire said with a sigh.
"I'm fine." Rael chuckled. "In fact, I'm more than fine. I accept your services, and I will assign you to a particular division that has yet to be made official. I will give you further instructions a bit later. For now, sit tight."
Neither of them could believe what he was saying—and rightfully so.
But just as Vonire was about to speak up, Rael interjected.
"Your brother sent you, and clearly, you don't want to be here... However..."
Rael leaned in, flashing a smirk.
