Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 159: The Final Push, And Dropping The Act
Chapter 159: The Final Push, And Dropping The Act
“Hmm…” Rael reached for the greatsword that had landed on his shoulder and shattered it with a flick, forcing Reinhardt to attack with his fists.
Yet in the end, the outcome was the same. He was literally punching an unbreakable brick wall.
“Why!?” Reinhardt yelled in anger. “How—”
“You cannot hurt me, even in your delusions. It’s a pity. I’ve never really believed in you, but this is a new low,” Rael said plainly as he approached Reinhardt and grabbed him by the neck.
“Feeble. Weak. Pathetic.” Rael threw him aside, smashing Reinhardt against a marble pillar and knocking it over.
This guy’s persistence is exhausting… Can’t he just give up already?
“You will eventually find a competent ruler. Someone your age. And only then will you realize how immature you truly are,” Rael said, masking his smirk.
He waited for Reinhardt’s shaky gaze to reach him, and the moment it did, he continued speaking.
Just this time, he mixed in some bullshit.
“There’s an ancient prophecy in Aztera. A platinum-haired man with crimson eyes will one day descend on this land. When he does, a great calamity will consume us all.”
“A platinum-haired…” Reinhardt trailed off, glancing around until, eventually, his gaze landed on Rael. “What are my orders…?”
Rael sighed. I should’ve expected this guy to act like a lapdog even in his dreams.
“Make him an ally, not an enemy,” Rael said, holding back a laugh. “He’s going to achieve many great things, and by antagonizing him, you will only fast-forward Aztera’s downfall.”
Before Reinhardt could speak up again, Rael suddenly unsheathed his sword and threw it straight at Reinhardt, piercing his neck.
“I don’t need any more of your foul words,” Rael stated coldly. “You are, and forever will be, my greatest failure.”
The moment the popup reached 100%, the entire space around Rael shattered.
Cracks appeared in the throne room, and bit by bit, they were swallowed, almost as if they were sinking into deep water.
And after just a few more moments, that seemed to really be the case. However, even as he stood still, he didn’t sink in the slightest.
As Rael glanced behind him, he spotted that the golden throne from earlier remained intact, almost as if it was decorating this place.
Rael took a deep breath and glanced toward Reinhardt. However, instead of his body, all that was left was a glowing golden orb floating just slightly above the water.
He wasn’t sure what to do with it, so he merely placed his hand atop it and activated the skill.
<+39 Mental Integrity>
Rael tilted his head in confusion, but not even a moment later, he got his answer.
Seed of Fear: [Level – Null] (Special Racial Skill)
—Imbed the Origin of Fear inside the target’s mind. Only works on targets with a fractured mind. Only works once per target.
Huh? Rael’s eyes widened. Can’t I just…
<Finalized!>
<Ding!>
The moment the last of the popups fell, Rael’s vision shifted, and he found himself standing right behind Reinhardt, who had his head buried into turkey.
It seemed like Reinhardt was slowly waking up, so Rael quickly regained his composure.
He picked up the cup of sleeping potion and stored it in his inventory, then walked back to his seat opposite Reinhardt.
A new title and an insane new racial skill. My day can’t get any better, Rael thought.
After a couple more seconds, Reinhardt finally rose up from the turkey and glanced around, dazed.
He looked for the cup, but it was clearly nowhere to be seen.
Therefore, Reinhardt cleaned his face up and glanced toward Rael.
Then, almost as if by instinct, Reinhardt flinched and avoided his gaze.
“The agreement was only drafted a little bit ago, so I’m sure we can work something out with extended talks, Rael Sutekh,” Reinhardt said, and without even waiting for a reply, began digging into the turkey.
“Good, because I’m declining the earlier offer,” Rael replied as he grabbed a cup and filled it to the brim with wine. “Working for someone you hate is just not in Celestara’s greatest interest.”
He narrowed his eyes at Reinhardt. “So bring that message back to your father. And recall the envoys from the Holy Kingdom. I want these ridiculous talks to end within the week.”
Rael understood better than anyone what Reinhardt truly wanted, especially after going through that Dream earlier.
He wanted his father gone once and for all. Therefore…
“Reinhardt, what do you think of the title: King Reinhardt Ashavir?”
Reinhardt’s eyes widened, but he quickly composed himself. “That’s a bit of a stretch. Truth be told, I’ve—”
“Drop the bullshit act you’ve been putting on since earlier.” Rael cut him off with a scoff. “I’m sick and tired of seeing you flaunt around this nice prince persona.”
Even after witnessing the fear, Rael could tell something had been off about Reinhardt from the very beginning.
A twisted mindset, one that hadn’t changed, no matter how much time had passed.
And there was also this…
A skill, similar to his Greed and Sloth. Just more corrupted and evil.
I remember reading that he lost his emotions the more he used this thing… so yeah, he’s a wildcard, Rael thought. But he’s a wildcard I can utilize because of the fear factor.
Soon, Reinhardt’s expression twisted as an emotionless, cold look replaced it.
“I initially came here to kill you and your queen.”
Rael’s brows twitched. “You wouldn’t have even been able to touch a single strand of Zafira’s hair before I killed you.”
“I’ve already dropped that plan.” Reinhardt nodded as he leaned back in his seat. “My father has said many great things about you, so I wish we could resume our talks with another goal in mind.”
So it really did mess with his memories…
“Another goal?” Rael asked with a tilt of his head. “Before you ask for an alliance, I’d like to politely decline.”
Reinhardt shook his head.
“It’s not that. In exchange for Aztera supporting Celestara’s official instatement as a country…” Reinhardt trailed off as he stood up, walked toward Rael, and sat beside him with a giant smirk.
He leaned in slightly, his gaze portraying total madness.
“I want you to help me kill my father.”
