Chapter 182: Spirit King Burger, And Zafira

[Rael’s POV]

Later that day, nighttime.

***

Frankly, he realized that sometimes, some things just weren’t meant to be.

I fucking suck at drawing. Rael was banging his head on the table. I couldn’t even draw a simple tower…

He couldn’t replicate her way of summoning things into existence since he didn’t even know the science behind how that worked.

Even so, he was currently in his room, doing nothing at all.

I did bump into Evelyn on my way back. She seemed more mature than last time… Rael thought with a hum. I guess being a queen, even if temporarily, can change a person.

Nonetheless, Rael decided to deal with a few small matters before Zafira came back.

She said her documents were finalized and she only needs to give the final go-ahead… so this should take around an hour.

So, without wasting any more time, he opened a particular interface.

<…>

That’s a lot of spirit ranks, Rael thought as he took a peek at his balance.

•—Balance: 1,467,172,583 Trell—•

He wanted to keep a majority of it, but since he didn’t want to get absolute dogshit, Rael invested 1 billion Trell.

And the moment he did, a frown appeared on his face.

“A fucking gacha…” Rael muttered, dazed. Every time there’s a gacha, I get fucked over… why…

It was even more frustrating because he couldn’t see the gacha interface. He could only hear dings going off in his ears, until finally, they stopped.

He was expecting something terrible to pop up, however…

<Congratulations! You’ve received the Spirit: Spirit King Astaroth, Herald of Forgotten Kings>

Seriously? Rael rubbed his eyes to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. And that was indeed the case.

He had just pulled a Spirit King, but he had no idea where that thing was.

Yet the moment he had those thoughts, a childish voice rang out inside his mind.

[Human, I hope you’re honored to be chosen by someone as esteemed as myself. I will grant you a day of freedom before I put you to work.]

“Excuse me…?” Rael tilted his head. “Who do you think you fucking are?”

[L-Language, human. ‘Tis I, Astaroth,] the Spirit King introduced itself. [I’ve been called, and I answered.]

He felt like he could communicate with his mind, so Rael tried it out.

You were spouting something about freedom and work? Show yourself.

The moment Rael’s words fell, he felt something leave his body. Then, in front of him, a head-sized blob manifested.

It looked like a black slime, except it had two weird-looking eyes, and a wide grin which Rael really hoped it hadn’t inherited from him.

And of course, Rael didn’t waste a moment before inspecting it.

“You’re…” Rael’s brows furrowed. “You’re very weak.”

“W-What!” Astaroth yelled. “Human, you’ve overstepped your boundaries long enough. I think it’s about time I show you your place!”

The moment its words fell, Rael felt a tiny prickle in his mind.

However…

<Astaroth, Herald of Forgotten Kings, has tried to invade your mind!>

<Ding!>

“What…?” Astaroth muttered. “How is this possible? I’m sure I—”

Rename…? Rael’s grin grew as he pressed on the option and typed in whatever was in his mind at the moment.

<Burger, Herald of Forgotten Kings>

“I hope we can get along, Burger,” Rael said, watching as the life began to fade away from Burger’s eyes.

“Y-Y-You will pay for this!” Burger yelled as the fire reignited in its eyes.

And soon…

<Burger, Herald of Forgotten Kings, has tried to invade your mind!>

<Burger, Herald of Forgotten Kings, has tried to invade your mind!>

<Ding!>

<Burger, Herald of Forgotten Kings has exhausted all of its energy and is temporarily returning to the Spirit Realm!>

Rael watched as the trembling Burger slowly began fading away, and finally, peace was once again restored to his room.

But he felt a bit disappointed.

I just bought a headache for 1 billion… Rael sighed, slumping down on his bed. But I’ll make it work… somehow.

As he was in the midst of his thoughts, he heard footsteps right outside his door. Then, a knock followed.

“Hey, Rael? Are you in there?” Zafira asked, and without even wasting a second, Rael appeared in front of the door and opened it.

She stood there in casual, loose clothing, and Rael couldn’t help but notice she wasn’t wearing a bra.

Zafira’s eyes met his as she tilted her head with a smile. “Can I come in?”

“Of course,” Rael replied, trying to keep his cool as he watched her walk past him and sit down on his bed.

“I dealt with the prisoners earlier. I’m also glad that quest was canceled,” Zafira said before falling into an awkward silence.

However, that silence didn’t last long as Rael approached her and sat down beside her.

“I’m glad…” Rael muttered. “So uhh… is everything done with the documents…?”

“Mhm.” She nodded, rocking her feet back and forth. “All that’s left is to wait, and you might get to meet my parents after the summit.” freeweɓnøvel.com

“Any quirks I should know beforehand?” Rael asked playfully.

“Not really, just be yourself…” Zafira replied, her gaze once again traveling to his eyes.

Yet she quickly looked away, her cheeks faintly flushed, almost as if she hadn’t meant to stare so long.

The tension in the air was strong, but her subtle movements, her lingering gaze—Rael understood her reason for coming here.

He took a deep breath, then, in the midst of the awkward, tense silence, he brushed his fingers across her cheek and then lifted her chin upward.

Her beautiful, embarrassed face met his, and Rael simply couldn’t resist anymore.

Rael slowly leaned in, and as he did, he watched as Zafira’s eyes fluttered shut, her fingers tightening around the bedsheets beneath her.

He pressed his lips against hers, indulging in the kiss with the woman he loved.

Zafira’s lips were soft, and her tongue was gentle. He simply didn’t want to pull away, and judging from how she slowly brought her hands to him, brushing past his thighs and exploring downward, he knew she didn’t want it to end either.

Therefore, Rael pushed her over onto the bed, her breasts swaying rapidly as she landed on her back.

Her face was flushed as she finally opened her trembling eyes, looking at him with a longing gaze.

Then, she extended her arms and wrapped them around his neck, pulling him back in for the kiss, which Rael didn’t dare pull away from.

His hands traveled down her waist, and only then did he realize that the bra wasn’t the only thing she wasn’t wearing.

“Rael…” Zafira parted, gasping for air as she held his cheeks lovingly. “I want you…”

A faint smile appeared on his face as he leaned in, placing a soft kiss on her neck, then on her lips.

Then, his gaze met her pleasure-filled eyes as he leaned in once more and whispered.

“I want you more…”
