Reaper's Purgatory-Chapter 27: Retaliation

The giant demon, Weasel, smashed the floor and walls trying to strike back against Dino and Cider. But they both proved to be faster than the huge demon.

On the other side of the coin, Weasel's relentless attack kept them on the defensive as they both tried to find angles of attack that only ended in failure. Each counter attack only led to a mere scratch and their attacks bouncing off its skin.

Dino proceeded to shoot several more of his crystal spikes at Weasel, all ending in the same result. "Tch! We're getting nowhere! Fast!"

Weasel slammed the ground again, nearly hitting Dino. He slid back scanning the now smoky area for any movement.

A fist ejected forth, forcing Dino to block with his crystalized arms. He was backed all the way to the maze wall and was made to hold off against the brute strength.

Not wasting time, Cider flew in from the side, slicing at Weasel's back. He then launched himself in the air and spun down like a saw blade unto Weasel who cried out in pain.

Weasel jerked back, freeing Dino.

With determination, he quickly ran under the giant demon, placing his hands on the ground. "It's now or never!"

"Crystal wonderland!"

A plethora of crystal spikes protrude throughout the entire square area, with some piercing into Weasel himself.

Cider attempted to continue his barrage of attack on Weasel, becoming an annoying little fly to him. Eventually he caught Cider in his hands again.

"Gotcha!"

He squeezed Cider tightly. But a second later, he disappeared from his Hands!

"EH!?" Weasel looked around, and found Cider standing next to Dino with a slight limp.

"That guy's tough!" Cider blurted.

"Yeah, Well we're getting nowhere by working separately. We gotta work together if we're gonna kill this demon."

Weasel Charged straight at the two, crashing into the wall. Somehow, that both ended up on the other end of the arena.

Cider shivered a little. "Y-you're power's weird."

"Yeah, well it's the only thing keeping us alive, listen... I have a plan."

Weasel's became much more irritated by the two. Clawed into the ground, picking a piece of a huge rock and tossed it straight at them. Like magic, Dino, and Cider Vanished only to rea appear miles above him.

"And that's the plan, are you up for it?'

"Yeah!"

Cider and Dino posed themselves' ready to go on the offensive again.

"How the hell are you teleporting!!?" Weasel shouted angrily.

He tore another piece of rock, this time from the wall. And with vigor, it threw it straight up at them.

Dino quickly dodged and clung to the rock, He instantly sent crystals through it and with cider's assistance, He wrapped his arm around the enlarged spiked rock and hurled it back at Weasel.

Weasel took the full brunt of this attack

Not wasting the opportunity, Cider Sliced several of the demon's huge fingers off!

Dino followed behind trapping each of those within his crystals that turned black.

"You think you can stop me from catching you!?"

Weasel instantly grew his finger's back. He tore another piece of the wall, tossing it at them once again. They dodged, allowing the debris scattered along the crystalized floor.

Cider zipped back at Weasel, with his blade arms at the ready. He dodged and weaved through the onslaught of rocks and debris and with expert precision, He outstretched his bladed arms slicing off several more fingers from the giant demon.

The rock in its hand fell hard and those fingers were instantly snatched up by Dino, who stored them in more of his crystals, turning them black also.

Weasel pounded his reformed fist to the ground onto Dino, But he somehow escaped once again.

Cider then showed up once more, taking down several more of his fingers. Irritated Weasel used his other hand to lock him into the wall. He crushed him, but suddenly found Dino on his arm.

Dino pressed both his hands on Weasel's arm.

"Crystal wonderland!"

Crystal spikes erupted from Weasel's arm, practically cutting his arm off.

"He can use his power on me too!?" Weasel thought.

Weasel tried punching at Dino but was dodged once again.

"Too Slow."

Dino quickly pulled his combat knife from his back sheath and dug it straight into Weasel's shoulder.

"Argh!!"

Weasel reflexively backed himself into the wall to crush Dino, only for him to escape.

Dino jumped back to the ground where Weasel finally witnessed Dino entering into his crystal. Seeing this, he finally understood what had to be done.

He stomped and attempted to crush Dino's crystals, all the while being attacked by Cider who cut and sliced off his fingers, resulting in them being trapped in black crystals.

Eventually he stomped onto one of the black crystals, cutting through his own feet. He screamed out in pain and moved to use his hands instead, punching at the crystal. But to his shock, his hand was completely cut by the crystal!

Using this opportunity, Cider cut his hand giving Dino the chance to store these hands in crystals too.

Weasel growled, but upon looking at the arena, it was practically filled with black crystals now.

"I have to say Cider, You did a good job for once." Dino said. He stepped out from one of the remaining crystals letting it shatter on its own. Cider rejoined by his side, balancing himself atop one of the black crystals.

"What's this supposed to be? Are you expecting to lay down and use this as a back scratcher?"

"You still haven't noticed? How sad. I expected a demon of gluttony to be already aware."

Without another word both Cider and Dino charged at him at once.

"Hah! Aware of what!?" Weasel undeterred threw his fist their direction. They both dodge through his barrage of punches and he kept trying to crush him under his own weight.

As Cider moved in to attack Weasel found his chance. He quickly pinned Cider to the wall again. And before Dino could move to help, Weasel also pinned him to the ground.

Weasel smiled happily seeing Cider and Dino squirm from beneath his grasp.

Suddenly Cider began screaming as if in pain. This amused Weasel. He puffed his own chest up in pride.

"Hehehe. So what was that about me not being aware of something?"

Cider began squirming around more violently.

Dino then seemed to mutter something, forcing Weasel to bring his ears closer to him. "Huh? What was that? I couldn't hear you from all that pathetic screaming. Hehehe."

"Pfff. You idiot."

"EH!?"

To Weasel's shock, Dino began to laugh.

"Cider. Cider. Stop it. Hahahaha. I can't talk seriously when you act like that. Hahahaha. You look stupid."

"Aww... But I was really trying."

"Grr! Die!!" Angered, Weasel tried crushing them both beneath his grasp.

But nothing happened.

Confused, he tried pressing harder and harder, but no matter what he did, they wouldn't get crushed.

Slowly Dino began to stand himself up, pushing his way out of Weasel's grasp. Cider did the same, actually pulling himself out to the sheer and utter shock of the demon.

"W-what the hell!!How did you become so powerful?"

Dino scoffed. "I guess a trash demon like you wouldn't understand. Here I'll spell it out in terms an idiot can understand."

With a smug expression Dino mimics his hands into a pair of scissors. "We simply trimmed that extra fat off you and stored them away in my crystals. So all that extra power you had is tucked away nice and safe. So now you're as deadly as an inflated teddy bear."

Weasel could only look on in bewilderment, still not understanding the explanation. He glazed at Cider who was perched on his hands with a devilish smile.

"I'll leave the rest to you Cider." Dino said.

Cider looked at Weasel more menacingly. "With pleasure."

In an instant Cider tore through Weasel's huge arm, Wrapping around it like a maniacal demon. Jumping from the pit of his arm , Cider spun like a spinning top, tearing through the entire demon's neck and chest.

Despite Weasel's best resistance, he was torn to shred, eventually turning to ash.

From the ash, Dino picked up Weasel's core. Unexpectedly the walls of the square arena started opening up. Four new pathways opened up before Cider and Dino.

Dino narrowed his eyes, suspicious of this event. Cider rushed forth down a random path. "C'mon Dino we have to find Megumi!."

Hold up! You idiot!"

Dino cut Cider off from the path. "Hey, what's the problem!?"

"Stop and think for a moment. If finding Megumi was so easy to find, we would've found her by now. For all we know she's half way across this maze. Besides, if Megumi was close by we would've been trapped in here. I have a feeling that this Dragerd demon is in control of this maze..."

"So what do we do then?"

Dino brought his head down and closed his eyes to ponder that very question. Becoming more serious he quickly looked around and sensed the area.

"Tch!"

"Impossible! It couldn't be that-"

Dino began to sweat with the worst case scenario seemingly being an actual possibility. HE quickly glanced up. "So even if we..."

"If that's the case, We're all screwed unless we escape from here!" Dino thought.

Dino turned back to Cider. "I know where Megumi will be."

Elsewhere, Megumi and Kailey still followed behind The multi-eyed and mouth demon, Devon.

"This way I think I remember seeing my friends come down here." Devon pointed to an 'X' mark on the wall. "We just have to follow these and we should find them no problem."

Megumi gave an awkward and affirming smile. "S-sure."

Kailey glanced at Megumi noticing that she was becoming a little woozy. "Hey girly, are you alright? Ever since you got rid of that blade thing from your arm, you've been looking a bit out of it."

"I guess, I feel a little tired. But I can keep going. Honest."

"Don't worry," Devon spoke. "My friend is with the reaper, so once we find him you can rest to your heart's content."

"That's good to know," Megumi chirped. She turned back to Kailey. "See, there nothing to worry about. One we find the other reapers, I'm sure we can rest a little easier."

Kailey kept silent, instead keeping a watchful eye on Devon as he continued to lead the way with his hidden smile. He chuckled silently, knowing that each step they were taking was another step closer to his master, Dragerd.

Back with Farn, He stood triumphant over the only a couple reaper's left, that stood in his way. The remaining demon army stood at attention, surrounding the two reaper's and the escorts of men, women and collared demons that were losing more hope by the second.

Farn looked at his two feeble opponents, then at the escort of people that cowered. He chuckled to himself at the state the reapers were in now. "How pathetic."

The reapers tried to stand tall and tough in these skewed odds. With determinations they charged at the tall demon with their conjured weapons of choice putting all their remaining power into their last strike.

Despite the explosion of power, that would've impressed any other bystander, It wasn't near enough.

Farn cracked his neck. "I'm still waiting~. Heh."

They were both grabbed by the necks and held up by Farn. "I could kill you both but I think it'll be more fun for you two watch and enjoy the show instead.

Both the reaper's eyes darted to the escorts that they were to keep safe., Horror filled both their eyes as they forced to the ground and forced by the other demons to watch as Farn approached the defenseless men and women.

"N- No! Stay away!" A man attempted to back by spurting some weak fire from his hands at the demon. But this was in vain as the man found his end with a swift swipe to the neck.

The remaining men and women back away in horror, watching as the man turned to ash. Even the collared demons among them averted their eyes from the brutal display.

Without protest, Farn picked the man's white core from the ground. He slithered his sharp tongue from his mouth ready to devour the core in hand. "Finally.. A nice meal."

Farn's arm detached arm fell straight to the ground with a loud thud. The core within it ruled from its grasp, leaving everyone in utter shock and confusion.

"Whew, Looks like I got here just in time. I doubt Lilith would've been happy to hear that someone actually died on this trip."

The hallowed sword was completely sheathed with an audible click.

Farn could only back away as he looked on in utter shock as the core was picked up from the ground, only for it to completely vanish from the man's hand.

"I'll keep you safe for now."

Standing before Farn was Liang, whom despite the overwhelming odds that stood around him, smiled widely in complete confidence.

"I see, so you're one of the delinquents that fooled men." Liang's eyes darkened, hiding the deep rage beneath his smile "Looks like I'll have to punish you for your treachery."
