Rebirth: 100 Days Before Doomsday-Chapter 338: Stepping Into Magik Realm
The golden rays of early morning streamed through the curtains, painting the room in a soft hue of warmth and serenity.
The night's intimacy was lingering like a perfume in the air, but there was no more time left to indulge in the afterglow.
Grace was up and ready to finally continue with her new plan. The men were ready too, the four of them enjoying the breakfast in silence.
Once they were done eating and cleaning up, it was time to make some necessary arrangements before starting with the new journey.
"You'll be alright," she said before Dr. Kian could speak, her voice calm. "You and Davian are more than capable of managing Earth while me and Rune will be gone."
The man remained silent, but the furrow between his brows didn't ease. "But we will still worry."
She looked at him with a soft smile, placing a hand on his chest. "And we will worry about you. I promise to return as soon as possible."
He immediately pulled her into a tight, warm hug, only letting go for Davian to take his place.
"Take care of yourself and Rune," Davian whispered as he placed a feathery kiss against her foreground, "And I promise to take care of Kian and everyone else."
Grace cupped his face between her palms, gazing straight into his deep green eyes. "Don't forget about yourself. You need to take care of yourself too."
"You can leave that task to me, Love. I'll take care of him." Dr. Kian said as he hugged both her and Davian.
When both men pulled back from the hug, they moved to pull Rune into one, taking the latter by complete surprise.
Next, Grace and Rune needed to cloak their identities before stepping through the portal.
Grace cast spells to change Rune's appearance. His icy-blue eyes shifted to a deep brown, his short, silky black hair grew into long golden strands that curled slightly at the ends. She added a neatly trimmed beard and mustache, giving him a completely different edge.
"You look good," she said with a teasing smile, adjusting the hooded cloak over his shoulders.
"I look like a history teacher from a warrior's academy," Rune deadpanned, making the other two men chuckle.
Grace chuckled too. "Exactly the kind of man no one would suspect of being the lost leader of the Elite Warrior team of the Magik Realm."
Rune rolled his eyes but didn't protest.
Next, they used advanced masking spells to conceal their energy signatures and suppress their true strength. The jade ring on Rune's finger and the jade bracelet on Grace's wrist vanished from plain sight under layers of illusion.
And lastly, they changed their clothes. When everything was in place, they stood before the newly opened portal by Grace, looking unrecognizable and undetectable.
"Ready?" she asked.
Rune gave a single nod. "After you."
With one last wave at Davian and Dr. Kian, Grace stepped through the portal and Rune followed closely behind.
The moment her foot touched the soil of the Magik Realm, Grace felt an overwhelming burst of life, energy, and magic so thick it was like walking through sunlight made liquid. The sky above was a radiant shade of sapphire, with three moons hanging in view despite the daylight. The ground under her boots was warm, humming with dormant magic.
And then she saw the world unfold.
Before her was standing a sprawling city that put Earth's most modern capitals to shame. Sleek skyscrapers of silver, crystal, and enchanted stone were piercing the clouds, some crowned with floating gardens. Between them were grand traditional structures - palaces, temples, ancient towers - built in elegant, angular styles from gleaming marble, stained wood, and gold-accented roofs. They weren't overshadowed by the towering buildings but embraced by them like sacred relics preserved in a modern painting.
Magical jets were soaring across the skies in smooth arcs, emitting no sound but trailing silver-blue mist behind them. Roads below were paved with enchanted stones, glowing softly under the wheels of vehicles powered by magic. Spherical transport pods were hovering above traffic, transporting people with shimmering warp portals.
But it was the people that truly stunned Grace.
Everywhere she looked, men and women were striding with confidence, looking strong, elegant, and alert. Most were wearing the attire of warriors - high-collared tunics, leather belts laden with weapons, enchanted cloaks that shifted with their movements, and metal greaves that shimmered under the sun.
And they weren't just posing. Grace could sense it, even with their power hidden, these people were seasoned fighters. Their energy may have been controlled, but their bodies moved with purpose.
"Sixty-five percent of this Realm's population are warriors," Rune's voice was low as he informed her. "If they aren't trained warriors already, then they are training to be one."
They stepped into a quieter part of the city, walking through a marketplace lined with multicolored stalls. Vendors were offering everything from glowing herbs and enchanted weaponry to silk robes that shifted color depending on the wearer's mood.
Grace's eyes wandered to a large, tiered fountain in the center of the plaza, made of translucent blue stone with water that flowed upward instead of down.
"This place feels like a dream," she said under her breath.
"It is," Rune replied, before adding, "But don't get lost in it's beauty."
That pulled her back to reality. They hadn't come here for sightseeing. This was a mission - to learn, to search, and to stay hidden. Rune was wanted. There were people still after him and his ring. And she couldn't let anything go wrong.
Still, she couldn't help but appreciate the view.
"Do you recognize this part of the city?" She asked as they moved.
He nodded his head. "We are in the Outer Quadrant of Zephir City. It's quite far from Capital City."
"Then we start from here. Find a place to stay, gather information, blend in." Grace provided.
Rune arched an eyebrow at her. "You sound like a spy."
"I feel like one," she replied with a smile.
As they wandered deeper into the city, she took mental notes of the layout, the positioning of energy towers, the flow of civilians versus warriors. The entire realm seemed structured - organized in a grid of power zones, guarded by sentries and surveillance orbs that blinked with magical runes.
They had made it into Magik Realm. And now, the real work would begin.
