Reborn as a Rich Woman in the Eighties-Chapter 84 - 83 What to Do (Fifth Update)
Chapter 84: Chapter 83 What to Do (Fifth Update)
"Meifang is here? Why do you look so unhappy?" Shao Meirou asked.
"Sis!" Meifang put down her handbag, "Don’t even mention it, I ran into that young girl who sold me the lingzhi last time, was thinking of buying a few more from her!
Unfortunately, she said she didn’t have any left, could only see if I might run into her again in the future..."
"Well, there’s nothing you can do about it; it’s fate!" Shao Meirou comforted her generously, "Meifang! Just don’t panic, you’ve got enough lingzhi to last a long time..."
"That’s true! But wasn’t the girl’s stuff good?" she hadn’t expected at the time, that the lingzhi sold by someone she encountered casually at the market would be so effective.
Later, Mr. Liao also said, those lingzhi they came across were really top-notch.
As the sisters were talking, Meifang checked the time, "Isn’t Lu Zheng’s train coming in a bit? Where did he run off to?"
"He said he went out to take care of something!"
On the other side, Lin Xia parted from Meifang; she didn’t linger, heading straight for the train station.
Unfortunately, for some reason, the tickets with seat numbers were sold out.
Lin Xia frowned; even though there were no seats, she had to buy a ticket.
She certainly couldn’t stay here overnight, could she?
Lin Xia, carrying the big bag that she had made look decent before entering the train station, searched hard for a vacant spot in the crude and dirty waiting room.
She’d better rest up well before boarding; if she had to stand all the way to Spring City, her legs would suffer greatly.
Lu Zheng, carrying a black bag, entered the waiting room with Shao Meirou.
He didn’t want his mom to send him off; such a grown man, who needs that?
But trying to resist his mother’s persuasive skills was futile; she merely spoke softly, and he couldn’t refuse, immediately agreeing to let her accompany him to the station.
The waiting room was bustling with noise, and the two of them struggled to find a spot with vacant seats.
Lu Zheng let Shao Meirou sit down while he stood by her side.
Shao Meirou looked up at her tall, spirited son, "Xiaozheng! You’re not young anymore, think about what mom says!"
"Hmm!"
"Back at the unit, don’t push yourself too hard during work, and take care of your health!"
"Okay!" Lu Zheng responded with single words.
Suddenly, his glance was drawn by a young girl not far off!
Wasn’t she the one he had met on the train last time?
He still remembered those eyes; while she was clearly young, she had a pair of mature eyes.
When he had felt her observing him on the train, she had hurriedly dodged away, without showing a shy or timid reaction, which he found quite intriguing.
And after deboarding, the flurry in her movements and that one glance she threw back had made him curious, what was she afraid of?
Lin Xia didn’t know she had encountered someone she knew; she squeezed onto the train with the crowd.
Looking around, the train carriage was filled with seated and standing passengers; she didn’t have a seat anyway, so she casually placed her large bag on the floor where the carriages joined and sat on it.
The clanging noise here was loud, but it was fortunately unoccupied, giving her some peace.
Lin Xia idly thought about where to sell her goods once she was back as she played with her fingers.
The journey was monotonous, and she gradually got used to the noise and didn’t find it bothersome.
But the smell coming from a nearby toilet was truly disgusting; Lin Xia hugged her knees and covered her mouth and nose with her arms.
Since all her valuables were in Jade’s room, she didn’t have to worry about theft.
There was only fifty cents in the pocket of her coat, so she boldly closed her eyes to rest, vaguely feeling sleepy.
Just when she was dozing off, she suddenly smelled cigarette smoke.
For a nonsmoker, the smell of smoke was particularly sensitive.
Even though Lin Xia felt someone lingering here smoking, she didn’t open her eyes, as now one could even smoke in train compartments.
She couldn’t help but complain internally, thinking the smoker was quite particular to come here to smoke, but, however, this disregard for her by making her inhale secondhand smoke!
Yet as she listened closely, she realized that after the person had finished smoking, they showed no intention of leaving. Lin Xia, prompted by curiosity, opened her eyes, only to see a man’s broad back as he stared out of the train.
Just as she was about to lower her head to continue resting with her eyes closed, the man suddenly turned towards her.
When she saw his face and those sharp eyes, Lin Xia gasped, her mouth opening slightly in surprise. Wasn’t this the man from the train ride before?
He knew Shao Meifang, but she did not know what their relationship was.
She thought to herself that even though his face was handsome, the stern expression spoiled the overall effect.
"What a coincidence," Lu Zheng said, his tone a bit blunt.
Lin Xia really didn’t want to hear that, especially since she had just heard Shao Meifang say the same thing in the afternoon.
"Hmm, yes!" Lin Xia responded coolly and continued to rest with her eyes closed.
Although he had helped her with her heavy bag on the train last time, for which she was grateful;
Because of Shao Meifang, she didn’t want to talk much with him.
When traveling, it’s always better to be more cautious.
Lu Zheng found it amusing, seeing how interesting this young woman’s reactions were.
First shock, followed by impatient coldness, yet he seemed to have done nothing to irritate her!
However, being a grown man, he didn’t bother to quibble over such things with a young girl.
So, he walked away, returning to the carriage.
Lin Xia, left on her own, began to speculate. What does this man do for a living, and why did she run into Meifang, who knew him, in the afternoon and then encounter him again on the train at night?
Whatever, she didn’t really want to know them anyway!
The only lingzhi she had left, she planned to keep for herself; she’d see about it if the occasion arose again.
Latter on, when she went to the bathroom and came back, she saw the man standing there smoking again.
He gave her a brief glance before turning his gaze back to the window outside.
Lin Xia secretly pouted—quite keen on smoking, this heavy smoker!
She still chose to sit atop her own baggage, not wanting any contact with him.
Lu Zheng increasingly found this young woman interesting, with her particularly expressive face.
But as his demeanor was usually cold and rigid, most people couldn’t read anything from his expressions.
While he looked outside, lost in thought, Lin Xia continued to rest peacefully, without disturbing each other.
After he finished his cigarette and left, despite a bit of the cold draft making her feel chilly, Lin Xia slowly drifted off; this time, she truly fell asleep.
After all, she had spent the previous night up on the train, and hadn’t rested after disembarking, busily selling hazelnuts and purchasing goods. Her body and spirit were already exhausted and sleepy.
Just as Lin Xia was in a drowsy semi-sleep, she felt someone gently pushing her.
She startled awake with a jolt!
Thinking it was a thief!
But it was still that man!
He was now leaning over, looking at her with a deep gaze, his hand still in the position of having just pushed her.
Lin Xia instinctively wiped her mouth with the back of her hand and asked in an unkind tone, "What do you want?"
She couldn’t help but grumble internally, didn’t he know that men and women should not touch? Didn’t he know how conservative this era is?
Even if he were a gentleman, he shouldn’t be touching her!
She was enjoying a lovely dream, and he had ruined it!
