Chapter 445 -445: The Beloved and Hated Old Mr. Smith
Different from the tone of the entire comment section, this one question in a very bewildered tone asked, “Who is this Abigail Green, is she a cardiology major? Why didn’t I see her in our freshman year?”
Following that, some classmates joined in, “Yeah, her appearance is quite unique. Why haven’t I seen her before?”
“Could it be that she’s too ordinary and no one noticed?” Someone explained on behalf of Abigail.
“No way, there aren’t many people in cardiology, right? Just now I asked everyone, and it seems like no one has seen her.” The original ID replied.
“Could she have switched majors?”
“Don’t say that, I also haven’t seen her at school…”
“Switched majors?”
“…”
Seeing more and more replies, the whole thread went off-topic. Everyone was curious about who this Abigail Green was; it seemed she really came out of nowhere.
Even after reading the post, Lena Locke couldn’t help but ask curiously, “Abigail, weren’t you in cardiology before?”
“Oh, I was in clinical before.” She said while sending the already edited information to Brandon Piers.
Lena suddenly understood, “I’ll go tell them.”
But when she logged into her account and wanted to find the post, she discovered it was already gone. Laughing gleefully, she said, “It must have been that troublemaker Duncan Symons who couldn’t take the criticism and deleted the post, really shot himself in the foot.”
Abigail smiled, “Don’t bother, just a joker.”
Lena looked at Abigail for a while, making her feel a bit uncomfortable, “What’s wrong?”
“Abigail, just now when you were talking, I had the illusion of a queen’s presence. Do you really not care about what she said about you? If it were me being so slandered, I would definitely cry.” Lena’s expression was soft and adorable.
Abigail found it amusing, reached out and ruffled Lena’s hair, “Slander or truth, the mouth belongs to others. We can’t torment ourselves over someone else’s malice.”
Compared to Duncan’s ridiculous tsukkomi, Abigail was more concerned about the follow-up post saying they hadn’t seen her before.
Although missing a year of school didn’t affect her much, if it was exposed, it wouldn’t be good for the school’s reputation.
It could also potentially involve Hughes tampering with the school system. Usually, it wouldn’t be a big deal, but he’s now serving time; if it came to light, it would be troublesome.
Lena pondered, “Abigail, what you said makes a lot of sense.”
“Makes sense, my ass. If others are wicked, you should retaliate with even more wickedness, not pretend to be magnanimous!” Lena just comprehended when she heard the loud and blunt response from Old Mr. Smith who had been quiet.
Lena, “…”
Actually, what Grandpa said made sense too.
Unexpectedly, Abigail turned to look at the old man, “If a dog bites you, do you bite back a mouthful of fur?”
“That’s because you’re stupid. If a dog dares to bite me, I’d beat it to death with my cane!” The old man said with imposing momentum.
Mrs. Han couldn’t stand it, “Please stop bragging. Last time, you were bitten by a Husky and chased it for three streets but didn’t beat it to death. You almost scared its owner to death, thinking her Husky had rabies and infected you.”
That was the second month after Abigail’s accident. The old man’s condition was not good then, even crazier than before.
Lena was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter, even Sophie Hope couldn’t help but smile.
Only Abigail almost shed tears, pretended to fiddle with her phone, not letting others see her red eyes.
She understood her grandpa’s temper well. Although irritable, he hadn’t lost control to that extent. What Mrs. Han said must have happened after she passed away, indicating how bad his mental state was.
This annoying old geezer, had the worst temper with her, yet treated her the best. She started school much younger than others, and kept skipping grades, making her lonely, so she was always bullied by older classmates, who all called her a freak.
On the Third Day of the Lunar New Year, a tall boy in her class couldn’t answer a question during roll call. Then the teacher called on her, and after she answered correctly, the boy was ridiculed by classmates. After school, he blocked her at the school gate with a street dog, chasing her for three streets. Eventually, she got bitten by the dog; Grandpa brought her home for rabies shots and went to the boy’s house, killed the dog on the spot. The boy was scared into dropping out, his parents screaming that Grandpa was crazy.
Sometimes Abigail had to admit, she had a love-hate relationship with this old man.
Suddenly, the car became quiet. Everyone noticed that after Mrs. Han’s words, Abigail and the old man became particularly silent, not understanding why.
At this moment, Pullan stopped the car, “We’re here. Call me when you want to go back, I’ll be nearby.”

Abigail responded, getting out with Mrs. Han.
The group walked through the bustling modern buildings, finally entering a quaint old alley.
Lena looked at the long, narrow alley and exclaimed, “Grandpa Smith, you live in a traditional courtyard house?”
“Don’t make a fuss.” Sophie mocked her.
Lena didn’t mind, “You’re so calm. I thought all the courtyard houses in Swallow City were tourist spots now. I didn’t expect Grandpa Smith’s house to be one.”
“Hmph, now you find it interesting. Don’t find it annoying later.” The old man snorted arrogantly, seeing Abigail following behind, turned back and scolded, “Dragging your feet, dragging your feet, are you too fat to walk? Do you want me to whip you to speed up?”
“Grandpa Smith, you promised not to hit us, with Headmaster Theodore and Master Brandon as witnesses. You can’t break your word.” Lena softly reminded.
“Did I ever say I’d hit you? Slander!” The old man angrily retorted, then thought of something, looked at Mrs. Han, “I’m getting old, why do you talk so much? If you keep nagging, I’ll kick you out.”
Lena, “…”
Mrs. Han, “…”
Abigail shook her head, “Childish.”
“Who are you calling childish? Who! Don’t think just because I can’t hit or scold you, I have no way to deal with you.” The old man shouted angrily at his granddaughter’s indifferent back.
But Abigail didn’t care, led Sophie and Lena leisurely to the house entrance, with Mrs. Han catching up to open the door.
In the end, Old Smith was the last one behind.
Church Smith then heard Abigail looking back at him, “Dragging your feet, dragging your feet, are you too old to walk? If so, tell us, we three can help you.”
Old Mr. Smith, undefeated in arguments, “…”
What a misfortune, to have such a troublemaker tormenting him.
But the next moment, the three really rushed over. Lena snatched his cane, while Abigail and Sophie each took one of his arms, half-supporting, half-lifting him back to the courtyard.
The old man didn’t react at first; when his feet left the ground, he realized what they were doing, yelling angrily, “Bastards, you troublemakers, I’m not old enough to need carrying, let me down, let me down…”
Lena followed behind, pretending to scream, “Scream all you want, no one will come to your rescue!”
The three in front, “…”
Embarrassing!
