Chapter 468: Chapter 468: A Woman Who Wants to Share the Joy of Love
Abigail rushed into the classroom just in time for class.
Lena quickly handed her the textbook.
Today was their first anatomy class of the semester.
And it was taught by Jeffrey Foster.
Just as Abigail arrived, Jeffrey walked in. Even though he had changed out of his lab coat, his scholarly elegance remained unchanged. Coupled with his outstanding appearance, many girls instantly had a crush on him.
However, those girls who were swooning over him quickly turned pale and blue-lipped when they saw Jeffrey smilingly dissecting a rabbit.
Some were even starting to vomit.
After the demonstration, Jeffrey looked around the classroom at the students. “Next, please form groups of five, choose an experimental animal, perform the dissection, and record the data. Each of your experiments will be recorded as part of your final grade. Since you have chosen this profession, you must accept both its gore and compassion. If anyone cannot handle it, you may quit now. Studying medicine is unlike other fields; it involves matters of life and death and hope. Please take it seriously.”
Jeffrey’s voice was not loud but carried his usual warmth and strength, which made the previously noisy classroom suddenly quiet.
Abigail glanced at the man on the podium. From any perspective, she thought her senior was an exceptionally talented and charming person. She couldn’t believe he would really cooperate with Piers’ third branch.
Sighing, Abigail noticed that besides Sophie Hope, there were three more individuals beside her.
“What are you guys doing?” Abigail looked at the two boys and Lena, who had just mentioned looking for a genius for help.
“Heh heh, they didn’t want us,” Wilson Jasper explained awkwardly.
As he finished, Ralf Harvey revealed a row of white teeth, “Heh heh heh, they didn’t want me either.”
Lena, on the other hand, had an attitude of not caring about them at all.
Abigail looked at Sophie, “Nobody wanted you either?”
“I’m an exchange student, being ostracized isn’t surprising,” Sophie analyzed reasonably.
“What about me? I shouldn’t be ostracized, right?” Abigail asked, looking at the other groups, only to find everyone avoiding them while selecting rabbits.
Wilson weakly explained, “They see you looking all chubby and innocent, like you couldn’t harm a thing.”
Abigail, “…” They really misunderstood me!
Just five minutes later, Abigail realized they did misunderstand her, but they were also genuinely annoying.
When Ralf, a man over six feet tall and very dark, loudly screamed while holding a rabbit in the classroom, Abigail suddenly felt she had made a mistake.
Why did she have to come to a medical university to polish her current identity? Wouldn’t it be more impressive to directly join Piers’ hospital and perform multiple surgeries, getting hired by hospitals fighting for her?
Why did she have to study anatomy experiments that she had already completed at ten years old and endure the noise pollution?
But before Abigail could finish lamenting, Ralf suddenly threw the rabbit onto Wilson, “Ahh, it moved, it moved!”
Wilson turned pale with fear but dared not grab the rabbit, standing motionless as if paralyzed while the rabbit scratched at him a few times and then jumped to Lena’s feet.
This girl acted normally, squatting beside the rabbit with compassion, muttering, “The little bunny is so cute, and you still want to use it for experiments. That’s so cruel. You all have such cruel hearts.”
Abigail, “…..”
Drama queen, huh?
Could she request a group change?
Abigail just glanced around at the other groups, and everyone immediately turned away, pretending they hadn’t received her message.
Duncan Symons stood nearby, gloating. He knew this would happen.
Abigail had no time to notice others and finally focused on the only normal person in their group, Sophie.
Unexpectedly, Sophie looked intently at the rabbit at Lena’s feet, then picked up a scalpel. “Watch me.”
Then the scalpel flew towards the rabbit with a swoosh, and before Abigail could react, the rabbit’s head suddenly tilted, and it died… it died…
Abigail, “…..”
They were supposed to do a live dissection, sister!
Should it be changed to corpse dissection now?
Abigail tried hard to calm her nerves and noticed that Jeffrey was looking in their direction from the podium.
“Heh heh,” Abigail laughed awkwardly.
Thus, Abigail’s first anatomy class ended with a zero score.
Abigail looked at Jeffrey giving her a zero without hesitation, feeling utterly disgraced. This could become a lifelong shame.
After class, Abigail walked out dejectedly, but Jeffrey stopped her.
Abigail then remembered the favor Jeffrey had asked her yesterday, looking at him apologetically, “Grandpa Smith still doesn’t want to see you. Please don’t take it to heart, Mr. Foster.”
“It’s okay, I expected this outcome,” Jeffrey had predicted it long ago.
Abigail nodded and felt Jeffrey’s gaze on her as she left the classroom.
Until she left the teaching building, Abigail exhaled heavily.
Sophie looked at her in confusion, “Are you nervous around Mr. Foster?”
Abigail was slightly startled, “Am I?”
“Hmm, are you afraid of him?” Sophie frowned.
“Huh? How could I be? Let’s go eat.” With only two major classes in the morning, Abigail looked at the time and asked Sophie.
Unexpectedly, the usually cool Sophie turned pale at the mention of eating, “No thanks, I need to recuperate.”
Abigail couldn’t help but laugh; she thought this girl really didn’t feel affected.
But when she turned back, Ralf’s dark face had almost turned white, and Wilson and Lena didn’t look much better. Abigail felt slightly embarrassed and touched her nose, wondering if her strong appetite made her seem weird?
Sighing, she looked at them worriedly, “It’s just the start of the semester. What will you do when we dissect human bodies?”
The slightly recovered group suddenly looked at Abigail like she was a monster upon hearing this, then quickly left.
Abigail helplessly remembered the lunch prepared in her backpack. She returned to the dorm to heat it and ate a bit while contacting the detective agency, offering a high price for her task.
After finishing, Abigail suddenly remembered something, opened her phone’s photo album, and indeed saw the picture of the man she had secretly taken last night. She thought for a moment before setting it as her phone wallpaper.
When Lena came in and saw Abigail grinning like a cat in heat, she hurried over, “What are you looking at?”
“Ah?” Abigail was startled and quickly put her phone away, but it was too late. Lena had already seen it and exclaimed, “Wow, this guy’s back is amazing, so handsome. Is he a new idol? Who is he? I want to be a fan too!”
Abigail quickly hugged her phone, “He’s not a new idol; he’s my future husband!”
“Hahaha, Abigail, I didn’t expect you to be like this, but I like it!” Lena laughed loudly, then mysteriously handed her phone to Abigail, “I’m different from you. I’m more generous. Here, take a look at my husband.”
Curious, Abigail leaned in to see Michael Piers’ familiar handsome face, “…. I’m serious.”
“So am I!”
