Chapter 529: Fierce Affections ( 529 )

Back in the Armand Region – Armand Estate, Courtyard.

The sun was gentle, casting warm light over the long wooden table set beneath a flowering archway. Birds chirped in the distance.

“Achoo!!”

Mimi sneezed hard, nearly knocking over her cup of juice.

Across the table, Delya tilted her head.

“What’s wrong?”

Mimi rubbed her nose with a pout.

“Don’t know nya~ Maybe someone’s talking behind my back.”

Delya stared a bit longer, then shrugged. “Serves you right.”

Just a few steps away, Liana and Gloria knelt beside their Pekko birds, offering them fruit slices from a basket.

Liana gently patted the head of her graceful silver-feathered Pekko.

“Pikko, chew slowly.”

Gloria smiled as her own Pekko, a chubby fluffball with speckled wings named Peanut, carefully swallowed a berry.

“Good boy, Peanut.”

Mimi and Delya, still seated, were surrounded by several wild Pekko that had been brought in for inspection. None of them were tamed yet.

Some preened. Others strutted awkwardly. One tried to peck Mimi’s hair.

“Hey! Watch the hair, nya!”

Liana glanced over, then looked at Gloria with a smile.

“Second wife~”

Gloria returned the smile without missing a beat.

“Yes, first wife~?”

They both looked toward Mimi and Delya.

“We’re lucky, aren’t we?” Liana said gently.

Gloria nodded. “Yes~”

Liana’s eyes softened as she stroked Pikko’s neck.

“Our young master chose and bought Pikko and Peanut himself. With his own earnings.”

Gloria grinned, brushing Peanut’s feathers.

“Yes~ unlike some others… who picked theirs from the wild batch.”

The teasing tone was light, but unmistakable.

Mimi’s ear twitched.

“Nya~ I heard that!”

Delya sipped her tea calmly.

“They weren’t wrong.”

Suddenly, a gust of wind swept through the courtyard.

The earth trembled ever so slightly beneath the grass.

Dozens of wild Pekko birds, once scattered and noisy, suddenly froze—backs straight, wings tucked, heads high.

Every single one of them stood perfectly still.

Like soldiers awaiting inspection.

At the far end of the courtyard, the reason for their behavior strode in with quiet, absolute dominance.

A towering golden-feathered Pekko, regal and radiant in the sunlight, stomped forward with majestic pride.

Giddie.

The legendary mount of Count Garius De Armand.

It moved like a war machine, every step confident, every movement controlled.

Upon its back sat Garius himself—calm, composed, and watching with sharp eyes as his mount led the wild flock like a true beast-king.

None of the other Pekko dared move.

Even Pikko and Peanut, usually relaxed and playful, were now cowering behind Liana and Gloria, trembling quietly.

Liana and Gloria both straightened immediately and stepped forward, bowing with grace and perfect form.

“My lord.”

Garius nodded once.

“Mm…”

He glanced around the courtyard at the frozen wild birds, then shifted his eyes to Mimi and Delya.

“Now then, Liana, Gloria… have these two princesses already chosen their new mounts?”

Liana stood with her hands folded politely.

“Not yet, my lord.”

Gloria added with a soft smile.

“Perhaps they’re being too picky~”

Garius raised an eyebrow.

“Picky, is it?”

His gaze flicked toward Mimi—who was still peeking from behind Delya while watching Giddie.

The golden Pekko puffed its chest proudly.

Not a single wild Pekko dared blink.

Garius swept his gaze across the courtyard.

The wind had quieted. The wild Pekko still stood like stone.

“Make sure they each pick one today,” he said, voice firm.

Liana and Gloria nodded in unison.

“Yes, my lord.”

Garius glanced briefly at Mimi and Delya.

“Each of you will name your Pekko yourselves.”

He leaned slightly forward from atop Giddie, his tone sharper now.

“A future wife of my youngest son must have a proper mount.”

Mimi straightened immediately, her tail fluffing from the pressure.

“Yes!!” she said with a little squeak.

Delya blinked once. “Understood.”

Garius gave a satisfied nod.

“Good.”

He turned Giddie slightly, golden feathers shimmering under the sunlight.

“Training is suspended for today. Erinette and Alf will accompany me to Gaze City.”

Liana and Gloria bowed again.

“As you wish, my lord.”

Just as Garius turned to leave, he spoke one final time.

“And Liana. Gloria.”

They both looked up immediately.

“Yes, my lord?”

“Make sure you don’t lose the mana talkie Javier gave you both.”

Liana placed her hand gently over her ear.

“Yes, my lord.”

Gloria adjusted hers with a faint smile.

“We’ll keep them close.”

Garius said nothing more.

He rode off.

Behind him, the golden king of Pekko left silence in his wake.

As Garius rode away atop Giddie, none of the wild Pekko moved until he was halfway down the courtyard path.

One by one, the excited squawks began.

Cuquawked~! Cuquawked~!

The wild Pekko flapped their wings in admiration, hopping in place.

Even the proud ones couldn’t help themselves.

Giddie, still moving with steady pride, raised his head just slightly—acknowledging his followers without even looking back.

Pikko and Peanut peeked from behind Liana and Gloria, eyes wide, feathers puffed.

“Looks like they have a new idol,” Gloria said softly.

Liana nodded.

“…Naturally. He’s Giddie, after all.”

The courtyard, once tense, now buzzed with restless energy as the wild Pekko chirped and squawked in excitement, wings fluttering like flags after a parade.

Liana looked around the courtyard, watching the wild Pekko still squawking with joy, hopping after the trail Giddie had left behind.

Her gaze softened.

“…I wonder what our young master is doing right now.”

Gloria smiled quietly beside her.

“I really want to be with him…”

Liana nodded, but then—suddenly—her expression changed.

She shivered.

Her shoulders stiffened slightly.

Gloria noticed right away.

“Liana?”

Liana didn’t respond at first.

Her fingers brushed lightly over the back of her neck—as if something cold had touched her.

“…I don’t know,” she murmured.

“But it feels like… something’s going to happen to our young master.”

Gloria straightened, eyes narrowing.

“…Something dangerous?”

Liana shook her head quickly.

“No, not like that. It’s not a bad feeling. Just…” She hesitated. Her brow furrowed.

“…it’s like…”

She paused again.

“…like the feeling I get when he’s with another woman.”

Gloria froze.

Then her eyes turned sharp.

“…He already has us two. And those two brat princesses…”

Her voice dropped lower. freēnovelkiss.com

“How many girls are going to fall for him this time?”

Liana bit her lower lip, tension building in her voice.

“Eee… This is why I hate being away from him!”

Her hands tightened at the hem of her maid uniform.

“Those girls—if no one’s watching, they’ll crawl right to him.”

Her tone turned sharp, her emerald eyes narrowing.

“And this time, I’m sure it’s a dwarven or halfling girl…”

Gloria folded her arms, brows furrowing.

“…Just because he’s growing more handsome than even his brothers.”

They both stood still—annoyed, frustrated.

Their eyes slowly drifted across the courtyard…

To Mimi and Delya, who were now happily petting and whispering to the larger wild Pekko, comparing fluff and feather colors like it was a festival game.

Liana’s eye twitched.

Gloria’s aura darkened.

“These two add-ons…” Gloria muttered coldly.

“Already crawled to him first,” Liana finished.

They both spoke at the same time.

“Claiming he was their husband.”

Their auras turned cold.

Very cold.

Even Pikko and Peanut backed away slowly.
