Chapter 99: Chapter99-Demon Merchant

After another long trek across the abyssal landscape, Daniel and Sarko finally arrived at the capital city of this mysterious Abyss Kingdom.

And just as they arrived, Daniel wasted no time. He used the same trick he had relied on before—activating his God Rank Skill, [Time Stream].

In the blink of an eye, time rewound, and he returned to the precise moment when he had first entered the capital.

"My friend," Sarko was in the middle of saying, "you are the most precious guest to ever enter my Kingdom. I will personally offer you the finest accommodations—"

Before Sarko could even finish his sentence, Daniel activated another skill—[Flashback].

Instantly, his figure disappeared and reappeared in the capital city once again.

Sarko paused, momentarily stunned. He had just witnessed Daniel vanish from before his eyes, and reappear elsewhere within his own territory.

Wait, what?

This was his own Kingdom—his domain. How was Daniel able to teleport freely within it? More importantly, how had Sarko failed to detect any fluctuations of power or space when it happened?

None of it made any sense.

Sarko’s lips twitched violently as unease crept into his mind. Was it a mistake to bring this human into his realm? Could he have just invited a ticking bomb into his own palace?

Yet only a moment later, he suppressed the doubts stirring within him and reaffirmed his decision.

The higher the risk, the greater the reward.

He would gamble everything on this one opportunity.

Almost simultaneously, Sarko sensed Daniel’s aura appearing within the capital.

Clearly, Daniel had released his aura on purpose—to be found.

Had he chosen to conceal himself, even Sarko wouldn’t have been able to detect his presence, no matter how powerful he was.

That realization disturbed him even more.

Wait a second... how did Daniel know where the capital city even was?

Could it be that his senses had already mapped out the entire Kingdom?

That unsettling thought sent a shiver down Sarko’s spine.

But no matter how strong Daniel might be, Sarko was determined to win against him at least once!

He activated his own movement privilege—an ability exclusive to the sovereign of the Abyss Kingdom that allowed him to teleport anywhere within its borders—and appeared at Daniel’s side.

Even with that advantage, Sarko still looked visibly shaken upon seeing Daniel already standing there calmly.

But he quickly suppressed his shock, replacing it with a serene expression. Pointing toward a majestic palace not far off, he spoke:

"My friend, that palace shall be your residence from now on."

"In my Kingdom, you are free to enjoy anything your heart desires."

"If you encounter any trouble, do not hesitate to find me. I promise—I will take care of it for you."

"Oh, and by the way," he added with a grin, "a new batch of succubi just arrived at the pet market. If you’re interested, feel free to pick a few to play with."

Daniel raised an eyebrow at that. He hadn’t expected such a casual mention of succubi.

But more importantly, he had just uncovered a critical piece of intelligence.

Why were there demons in the abyss?

From Sarko’s tone, it sounded like it was a perfectly ordinary thing—as if interactions between the abyssal races and the demons had been going on for ages.

Did this mean the two factions were actively trading with one another?

And if so, since when?

Daniel had never come across this information before. Perhaps it was because such exchanges were so commonplace that even someone like Sarko didn’t consider it worth mentioning.

After thinking for a moment, Daniel asked directly, "Why are there demons in the abyss?"

His confidence came from the power of [Time Stream]—an ability that allowed him to rewrite consequences. Even if he said the wrong thing or made a strategic error, he could always go back and fix it.

Sarko, on the other hand, simply smiled.

"My friend, you truly have good taste. You’re exactly the kind of man who would appreciate the charm of demonfolk."

"Your timing is excellent. The pet market will be hosting an exhibition very soon. You’ll have the chance to meet the Demon Merchants in person."

"Those Demon Merchants are a unique breed. They have only one interest—conducting trade with powerful forces across different realms."

"I myself have acquired several surface-world items through them. Cost me a small fortune, but worth every token."

"That said, these merchants follow some bizarre rules. They only sell goods—they never share any information."

"Last time, they even purchased several god husks. You know, the empty shells left behind when a god falls in battle. We have quite a few of those lying around here in the abyss, so they’re not exactly rare."

"What puzzles me is what they actually do with those husks. Are they trading them elsewhere? But god husks are practically useless—the divine power they once held can no longer be harnessed."

Now that Sarko had returned to his own Kingdom, he seemed much more relaxed—and more talkative. But from Daniel’s perspective, the change wasn’t due to comfort—it was because Sarko’s attributes had been amplified by the abyssal environment, inflating his confidence.

Daniel, however, was less interested in Sarko’s ego and more intrigued by the true nature of the Demon Merchants.

How did they manage to arrive here?

Were they the only outsiders to make it into the Abyss Kingdom?

The world was vast beyond comprehension. The idea that other powerful beings from different races might also be secretly entering this realm wasn’t far-fetched at all.

Suppressing his thoughts, Daniel simply nodded.

"If I get the chance, I’ll visit the exhibition."

"Wonderful," Sarko replied, bowing slightly. "Then may you have a truly splendid journey, my friend."

He pointed to the luxurious palace again. "I live just over there. Should you require anything, you know where to find me."

Then, as if suddenly remembering something, Sarko snapped his fingers.

A glowing black token materialized before Daniel, hovering in the air.

"Almost forgot—this is a token. With your strength, I’m sure you’ll shine brilliantly at the tables."

With that, he disappeared in a flash.

Daniel caught the token and rolled it lazily between his fingers, the ghostly shimmer glinting in the abyssal light.

A faint smirk formed at the corner of his lips.

Just one token?

Looks like even abyssal royalty are stingy when it comes to gambling chips.

His gaze wandered across the city, finally settling on a distant building—an extravagant gambling hall.

Casino Royale.

Upon entering, Daniel was struck speechless.

The sight that greeted him was nothing short of overwhelming.

Even the beings of the abyss, as twisted and fearsome as they might be, still seemed to crave lavish surroundings.

The interior of Casino Royale was a marvel of wealth and indulgence—golden decor, extravagant architecture, an air of unapologetic luxury.

Daniel blinked a few times in disbelief.

Could it be... that even abyssal aesthetics shared common ground with human tastes?

Shaking his head, he began pondering everything he had seen along the way.

He had passed through many strange structures, each of them bizarre in shape and origin. Yet despite their oddities, none of them had felt repulsive. In fact, from a human artistic perspective, they even held a unique sense of elegance—alien, but alluring.
