Julia feels offended hearing Adam’s words, but she can’t retort, as what Adam says is true.

Julia doesn’t need to put up an act before Adam because she knows Adam sees right through the act that she puts on before Jack.

She married Jack because of his money, and whether Jack knew about it or not was none of her concern because the marriage was already done. She is in and part of this house now.

But Julia continues to put on her loving wife act as she doesn’t want to end up divorced, as she believes she has the right to everything Jack owns, and getting divorced is not something she is looking forward to.

Her biggest obstacle in getting everything that Jack owns under her name is Adam, as Jack’s son. He is the rightful heir.

Julia knows it’s going to be hard to convince Jack to put everything he has under her name. For that, she needs Adam to make a mistake, a mistake huge enough that would convince Jack that Adam is not ready to take on the family business.

Julia knows she needs to keep her mouth shut and not aggravate things with Adam because everything can go very south. She is playing the long game.

It doesn’t matter if she has suppressed sexual fantasies about her stepson because, at the end of the day, she is a gold digger, and the only thing that matters is money.

"What, no comebacks?" Adam tries to instigate, but Julia keeps her lips sealed and just scoffs at Adam.

Seeing that Julia has no intention of escalating the situation makes Adam smirks. He expected this much from Julia, as she is one cunning bitch. She knows her place in this family is still not comparable to his.

And now that he knows what’s going to happen in the future, he is going to make sure that Julia’s position remains the same in the family while he also turns her into his slut.

Adam stares at Julia with his eyes fixed on her breasts as they are popping out a lot because of the dress she is wearing. Even though she spends most of her time inside this house, she continues to dress sexily. It’s a habit she has gotten herself into.

Julia notices the way Adam is looking at her and smirks. Even though their relationship is not good, they are still sexually attracted to each other.

She decides to give a taste of what he has always dreamed of getting his hands on.

Adam picks up the knife and fork and takes a bite of the food. His eyes widen a little as the food tastes great.

"Hmm, this is delicious, great job Xu Lin," Adam praises Xu Lin while smiling at her.

Xu Lin blushes a little and nods her head before going back to the kitchen and continuing with her work.

Adam brings his attention back to Julia. Eyes locked with hers, he takes another bite of the food with a smile.

"Aren’t you glad that I suggested Xu Lin? This breakfast is delicious, way better than anything you ever made," Adam says.

"Please, do you really think I believe your bullshit? The only reason you wanted her to be hired is because she is eye candy for you. And as for her level of work, you just got lucky. There is nothing more to it," Julia says.

She is not going to deny that Xu Lin turned out to be a great hire, as she came to work early and did all the work without making a single mistake. Even the breakfast she made turned out to be delicious.

"Luck, too, is a skill," Adam says as he continues eating with a smug look on his face.

Julia feels irritated seeing Adam’s smug look, but she doesn’t say anything. She finishes her coffee and leaves, as she doesn’t want to argue with Adam anymore.

Adam stares at Julia’s ass, which sways left, and right as she leaves. He licks his lips as he can’t wait for the day that he will finally have that perfect ass in his grasp.

After Julia leaves, Adam finishes his breakfast and carries the plate back to the kitchen.

He sees Xu Lin washing some plates while being completely unaware of his arrival.

His hungry eyes scan Xu Lin from the back.

"Master Adam, do you need something?" she asks meekly, still carrying a little accent as she talks.

"No... I just wanted to say that you are doing a good job. Keep up the good work, and I promise to properly reward you," Amon says, smiling charismatically down at her.

Xu Lin turns to look at Adam again and sees his charismatic smile, which makes her heart skip a beat.

’Master Adam is so handsome,’ she thinks, but she keeps her thoughts to herself.

"I will take my leave now. I have to go to work," Adam says and turns around.

"Master Adam..." Xu Lin suddenly calls for him.

Adam stops and turns around, meeting her gaze again. "What is it, Xu Lin?" he asks with a soft gaze.

"I just want to thank you for hiring me... I know that if not for you, I wouldn’t have been hired. Because of my age, many rejected me. I had very little hope, but thanks to you, I got this job. Now I will be able to pay for my father’s medical bills," Xu Lin says as she gets a little emotional.

Hearing her, Adam realizes that Xu Lin is not only beautiful and obedient, but also naïve. But this works in his favor.

It’s good to have someone like Xu Lin around to keep his spirits up. The world is filled with vain women, and Xu Lin is a breath of fresh air.

"You don’t have to thank me for hiring you. I am paying for your services. The best way to thank me is by doing a good job," Adam says.

"Don’t worry, Master Adam, I am not going to disappoint you," Xu Lin says as determination flashes on her face.

’She really is naïve,’ Adam thinks, but smiles at her and takes his leave.

Returning to his room, he sees Ruth still asleep, and he doesn’t expect her to get up any time soon.

’Too bad she is still not awake. I could have used her one more time before going to work,’ Adam thought. He could wake up Ruth, but he also doesn’t want to be late for his first day of work.

So Adam writes a message on his phone.

[Heading to work. Saw you were still deep asleep, so I didn’t bother waking you up. You can clean up in my bathroom, and if you are feeling hungry, ask the maid for something to eat.] He writes and sends it to Ruth. When she wakes up, she will see it.

Adam then picks up his car keys and leaves.

Exiting the mansion, he unlocks his car and gets inside. The car’s engine rumbles as he turns it on. He then shifts the gear into first and drives out of the driveway.

As he leaves his posh locality and enters the main street heading to the city. He feels great.

This is no longer a dream. This is his new reality, and he is going to live every bit of it to the fullest.

He is not going to repeat his past mistakes ever again. A promise he is making to himself. A promise that he will never break.
