Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 188: N’bayé’s Plans
Ever since Kael left the mountain, a lot of work had begun and the forces of the small kingdom had already moved out.
The leadership of N’bayé and Priya could be seen as having powerful effects on the whole caste groups.
After receiving Kael’s instructions, N’bayé acted with the swiftness of a viper and pursued the mission with immediate effect.
The first thing she had done was to gather all the magic-related creatures she could find, every last one of them.
Magus wolves, magus foxes, magus snakes, magus birds of all kinds. She gathered them all.
The moles had very little talent outside of fire, vegetation, metal, and earth. If there was a Magus mole among their ranks, she was not aware of it and she honestly didn’t want to interfere too much with the moles.
The moles were singlehandedly producing the metal that she intended to use for her plans, even if they had magus moles, she wouldn’t ask about them.
However, N’bayé had noticed that they were still lacking in numbers. Magic-related creatures were not common and she had to do something about this fact.
They were crucial for her and Kael’s plans.
That was when she turned her attention to the bears, Kurse and his mother, Kursela in particular.
Kursela had given birth to two sons, one of whom had become the caste leader for the still-specialized bear priest caste.
The two had not made much effort to recruit other bears and it annoyed N’bayé very much. Kurse was understandable, he was busy with his own deranged antics but Kursela was just there, doing nothing.
"If I kill you, neither Kael nor Kurse would make trouble with me," N’bayé had told Kursela straight and to the point.
It was infuriating that she was still not pulling her weight, didn’t she know that Kael only had tolerance for people who were useful to him?
Kursela, despite her aggressive and stubborn nature, had no choice but to comply.
After all, N’bayé was now a tier 4 lioness who could crush her easily. She had to do something if not she would truly die and as N’bayé had said, Kurse, her son wouldn’t cause trouble.
So, with her other son, Kursela set out to find other bears to recruit into the kingdom.
N’bayé, being N’bayé, was not comfortable with this method. She wanted near hundred percent certainty of success and she didn’t want anything to hinder her at this moment.
More than fifty wolves were sent to escort the mother and son bear duo. This was to serve as a combat force as well as a force to prevent Kurse and her son from escaping.
N’bayé’s method was cruel and inconsiderate, but it worked. The group had come back the next day with five adult bears, beaten and battered with claw marks all over their bodies.
With the features of the Vassal Records, Kael’s personal vassal system, the identity marks of the bears were added to the Vassal Record.
One of these bears had been a magus bear but it was still at the tier 2 stage, not enough.
N’bayé ordered that from that moment, all of them were to continue looking for bears to recruit, by force or by death.
Anyone who refused to join them was to be killed and their hearts fed to the others to increase their strengths, nothing was to be wasted.
It was obvious that this could cause some serious issues in the long term but N’bayé figured that there was no conflict that overwhelming power couldn’t end. She just had to make sure the ruling lion class was always strong.
Compared to the bears, N’bayé had no trouble when it came to recruiting the goats.
This was actually a suggestion brought to her by Kurse himself. He had claimed that the goat man who had been imprisoned was now ready to be a subordinate.
N’bayé, even though she was skeptical, agreed on the condition that the Earth Goat helped out with recruiting other goats into the kingdom.
This had surprisingly been easier than she had expected, there was almost no resistance or fighting…almost.
The head goat was just happy to do anything to make sure he wasn’t thrown back in prison. He could try to escape but common sense told him he wouldn’t be able to escape far before he was caught, killed, and fed to the wolves.
Goats were stubborn and idiotic by nature to the point that it made it quite hard for them to be manipulated.
But seeing their own kind following the wolves and lionesses, they were inclined to see them as potential friends.
It came to pass that on the first day, more than a hundred goats were recruited. It was an unprecedented development that caused a lot of uproar in the camps of other castes.
If this went on, the number of goats would rise and may go head to head with the wolves.
This wasn’t even the main issue though.
What was very controversial was that these were goats, very standard prey for predators. And Kael’s kingdom was one populated mostly by meat eaters.
It didn’t take long for a few goats to go missing only to be found dead with nothing but bones and little flesh attached.
Mixing herbivores and carnivores together was bound to result in such and N’bayé already knew this was going to happen.
She didn’t prepare for it, she just knew that it was going to happen. What could she possibly do, ask the meat eaters to stop?
She made it very clear to the goats that the only way to prevent such from happening to them was to increase their strength. If anything happened to them, they were the only ones to blame.
Being weak had its consequences.
The only lionesses who had a bit of sympathy for them were Nalii and Priya. But even they were too busy to interfere in such matters. Nature had to prevail and the food chain had to be respected.
On N’bayé’s side, she successfully gathered enough magic-related creatures for her plans.
Knowing that the Paradise Beach was quite far, she had been thinking of ways to boost their means of transportation. Having to travel to their destination with their legs would be very tiring.
She already had ideas for the type of items that could be created, the magic calculations, and the resources needed.
With the moles, she got access to a lot of refined metal. More than half of the refined metal being produced was being redirected to the experimental area that N’bayé had designated.
This, as expected, caused the metal market economy to slow down and the fox merchants saw a significant decrease in sales.
There was a demand for metal but no metal to supply. It was chaos.
For the last two months, a lot of metal users had gotten used to trading their possessions for refined metal.
This had boosted their overall power in the forest, putting metal users on a much combat-oriented stage.
And since Kael’s beast kingdom was the only supplier of these refined metals, they effectively held a monopoly and controlled a lot of creatures without having to expand their borders.
The sudden reduction in metal available caused uproar and distress.
All this was within the expectations 9f N’bayé’s calculative mind and she was determined to milk the world of whatever benefits at any moment’s notice.
It didn’t take long for the creatures of the fires5 to realize that if they wanted to have better access to refined metal, they had to join the kingdom.
But while this notion was set in motion, N’bayé and her new group of Maguses were focusing on creating new magic tech.
Trees were cut down and Log Carriers were created with multiple variations introduced to their previous models.
Experimentations led to the creation of new hybrids, bigger log carriers for heavy loads, and smaller log carriers for speedy transportation.
It didn’t take long for N’bayé’s team of magic creatures to brainstorm and find ways to inscribe runes on metal in ways that worked.
Floating metal platforms were made with the intention of attaching potential weapons to them.
What was crazy was that all of this was achieved within two days after Kael left. By the end of the second day, N’bayé had already ordered for multiple metal platforms and log carrier hybrids to be assembled.
War was coming, and she had to make sure they were prepared
Meanwhile, Diane and Commander Bibi, the two who would be spearheading this campaign to conquer the beach, were not idle either.
Even before the log carriers and hover platforms were created, wolves and subcaste warriors had been sent out to scout and recruit in the name of the king.
Their numbers were growing, slowly but steadily. Soon…
Every hour that passed caused the blood of the warriors to pump, they could smell the coming violence. Their minds were filled with fear but also excitement whenever they thought of what it would be like to fight their enemies.
A large portion of the forest had been cast into a state of turmoil and unrest because of this single campaign.
And the target, the Paradise Beach, remained completely oblivious.
