Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 44: First Night of the apocalypse
Chapter 44: Chapter 44: First Night of the apocalypse
You couldn’t blame her for thinking like that because they had been acting weird lately.
"We’ll be next door. If you need anything, just call us. There are three bedrooms in the apartment, you can take the master bedroom, I’ll move my things tomorrow.
Uncle and aunt can share the bedroom on the right and Lu Tao can take the one at the end of the corridor.
There are beddings in the closets in each bedroom, feel free to use them." Lu Zhen replied to his mother and left clear instructions before resuming his walk to the door.
When they heard what he said, the elders did mind and his brother just turned on his heels and headed to his designated bedroom. freёnovelkiss.com
He had seen too much horror tonight. He wanted to sleep and forgot all that devastation and despair filled in the air.
He could still hear the screams of the people crashed by the meteorites or those ignited by the fire they brought.
This was the first time he realized that the scenes only seen in movies could appear in real life. He never wanted to see such horrifying scenes again.
Thus, Lu Tao hadn’t said a word since he was told that this wasn’t a meteor shower but a disaster. Getting to his room, he found that the bed had clean sheets laid out and needed no change.
His mother must have done it during the day. He didn’t care about anything else and didn’t even bother changing into his pajamas. He went straight to bed and lay down feeling that the soft bed that should have been comfortable was not as comfortable anymore.
He didn’t know what was happening, but he found that even though he was in bed and the apartment had good soundproofing, it was only getting noisier.
He could hear people talking about moving bricks, others drawing water, and even the soft cry’s of the scared people in the same building as them.
He found all the noise unbearable and even thought of going out to ask them to keep it down. Some people were trying to sleep. But he thought that that would be too selfish as others were doing everything they could to save lives and he was worried about not getting to sleep.
He got up from the bed and walked to the window. Looking out through the glass, he saw people in the distance running around trying to help.
He was surprised to see some people disregarding their own safety just to save one more person. Like one man who cut his hand on a protruding iron bar while moving a fallen part of a wall because he heard some weak crying from below.
Lu Tao didn’t understand such sacrifice for strangers. He believed that if it was a member of his family or friend, he would go to any lengths to protect them and help, but for someone he didn’t know? He wasn’t that kind.
As he stood there the sounds intensified and his vision became clearer. Even the drops of blood dripping from the wound on that man’s arm became visible.
He didn’t understand how he could hear a conversation from several blocks away or see blood from that far, but he didn’t really care.
He turned around and went back to bed. He was somewhat sleepy. He tried to filter the noise and calmed himself down. He had no idea how or when he fell asleep.
Lu Zhen and Leng Pan went back to Leng Pan’s apartment just as they had decided. This apartment would be their live nest for the near future.
Because of too much anxiety caused by the changes in the order of disasters during the apocalypse, Leng Pan didn’t have much strength or mood for anything.
As such, after going back she headed straight to the closet, changed into her pajamas and went to bed.
Lu Zhen could understand that she was feeling overwhelmed and didn’t plan on bothering her tonight. Even though he wanted to make love to her every time they were alone, especially when in bed, he had to consider her feelings.
So, after changing into his pajamas, he also followed suit and got into bed. He pulled his wife closer to his chest and circled his arms around her, before feeling content and closing his eyes to sleep.
If anyone else could see this scene, they would be horrified. For the two lovers to be sleeping so peacefully when the world outside was in chaos required a certain level of nonchalance and talent.
Talent in ignoring big matters. Even Leng Pan had only laid down in hopes that she could rest her restless mind and relax her body. She was not expecting to get any sleep.
After all, who could fall asleep in this situation? Especially when they knew that it was the end of the world.
Who would have thought that she could sleep as if she had taken sleeping pills? It was an incredible phenomenon considering how much activity was going on outside. Even with the soundproofing, it still didn’t make sense.
Nevertheless, she was well rested the following morning when she woke up.
Leng Pan woke up to find herself alone in bed. Lu Zhen must have woken up earlier and didn’t disturb her.
It was funny how even though he didn’t need to go to work, he still woke up so early.
She smiled to herself as she got up and headed to the bathroom to freshen up. Looking at herself in the bathroom mirror, she didn’t even look like she had just woken up.
Her complexion had changed completely after taking the spiritual spring water the day before. She looked at her beautiful and pale face and a smile broke on her small but plump lips.
Looking at the smooth skin on her face, she started to imagine her face with sparkling droplets of water like in those facial wash advertisements, making it even more appealing, but the next moment, the smile froze on her face.
