Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 52: Training Abilities
Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Training Abilities
Practicing inside the bathroom, Leng Pan continued to create water into the bathtub. Once she is tired and runs out of energy, she would drink some spiritual spring water and rest for a few minutes before resuming her practice.
She didn’t mind how taxing the activity was. She was supposed to guide the others since she was ’reborn’. Luckily, she had read the book at least, until the Chapter where the original Leng Pan was thrown into a horde of zombies and died.
After that, she was too angry to read anymore. However, it was already near the end of the book, so anything more significant probably involved Bai Yinyin’s survival and she wasn’t interested in it.
She kept producing water until someone knocked on the door and asked her to go eat lunch.
She was indeed tired and hungry. She had been so busy that she forgot she had the space and could get some snacks from there to replenish her energy.
Nevertheless, she had made significant progress thanks to her persistence. After repeatedly exhausting her energy and replenishing it with spiritual spring water, she could now produce three liters of water without a problem.
She planned to continue doing the same and strive to produce at least five liters of water before she starts to practice creating weapons and defense walls with her ability.
She just needed to follow the description written in the book on how Leng Pan and continuously trained her ability to become stronger so that she could protect her best friend, Bai Yinyin better.
It talked about how just two weeks after awakening her ability, she could create a sword and use it to fight zombies. This was her hard work without any prior knowledge or guidance.
She had to fumble in the dark to understand her superpower, and learn how to use it in different ways. Moreover, she didn’t know that repeatedly exhausting her superpower could allow it to improve faster than if you tried to save the water for some ungrateful people to drink.
It had taken the original Leng Pan two weeks to fill a five-liter bottle of water, then she started developing ideas of using her water ability as a weapon.
According to the book, she had discovered this by accident when she went out to scavenge for supplies. A zombie had pounced on her out of nowhere and she had instinctively created a water shield to protect herself, then the next moment, a water dagger appeared in her hand and she had stabbed the zombie on the forehead.
After that, she had been exhausted because she didn’t know how to control her ability and wasted too much energy on such simple actions. Luckily, Lu Zhen had found her soon after and protected her to recover her energy.
From that moment on, she had practiced controlling her energy and creating weapons or shields to help her fight better.
Now that Leng Pan thought about it, the ideas the original host came up with had given her a detour because now she just had to practice according to them and not struggle to think of ways to improve her ability.
She knew that the key to success was learning control, so she planned to continue producing water and learning how to control her energy while doing it.
This way, she can understand her ability better, and also gain the ability to use the least amount of energy to create more water.
If she could achieve this, then she didn’t have to worry about creating weapons or armor from the water because she wasn’t going to be producing water nonstop when fighting. She was just going to create a sword using maybe one liter of water and continue reusing the same.
This way, only a little energy would be used in creating a weapon or a shield, the rest can go into fighting. This was a great idea and reading the book really saved her from taking detours.
Sitting at the dining table, Leng Pan asked Lu Tao about his progress and to her dismay, he still couldn’t filter the voices outside.
In the original book, there wasn’t such a superpower. Lu Tao and her mother-in-law had died in the early days of the apocalypse and were only mentioned briefly because the male lead, Lu Zhen, had taken three months to travel to City Y to look for them only to learn that they had died.
That’s why Leng Pan had reminded him to bring them over earlier in this life. Now, all she could do was use the principle of elimination to guide her little brother-in-law.
"Why don’t you try practicing on us first. Trying to filter the noise outside is overreaching. Try filtering our voices first. It will be easier since we are close and you can easily decide what to listen to and what not to listen to. Try it." She advised her brother-in-law to do this because she thought that it was the same principle with her superpower. Start small and expand outward.
She also started by producing a liter and a half of water, and now she was up to three liters. Lu Tao could also employ the same principle and start filtering sounds from the people near him and expand the area until he could only hear what he wanted to hear.
After listening to Leng Pan’s advice Lu Tao indeed became serious. The others also continued to discuss what to do since it was impossible to go out with zombies roaming the streets.
Leng Pan and Lu Zhen expressed their plans to continue training their abilities and asked the elders to do whatever they wanted as long as they didn’t go out.
Uncle Li said he would make some pastries with a long shelf life, aunt Li said she was going to help him make fillings and cut ingredients when needed, and Li Yunjia decided to make some clothes with a material she saw in the guest bedroom.
When she heard her mother-in-law talk about making clothes, Leng Pan suddenly remembered something and rose up in a hurry to run back to her apartment.
Everyone was shocked and thought something serious had happened.
They all stood up in an attempt to follow her and see what was wrong.
