Chapter 205: Chapter 205

- ASAMI -

I have an entire squad here with me. Arranged in a row by row formation are the people who will do my dirty work for me.

Oh, what a wonderful day today is. What an interesting one it will be. A half grin forms on my lips. If a girl can’t have what she wants, she might as well pay for it and that’s what I’ve done.

“Make no mistakes.” I repeat to them for the hundredth time. I raise my hand up to show them a photograph. “It’s her you want and no other. “One slightest mistake or damage to someone else and I will have you all pay for it. Is that understood?

“Yes, sir. Objective clearly received, sir!” Explodes loudly in the hall at the unified response. Only men are present here. Strong, rigid, trained men for no other task but massacre. I love being referred to as ‘sir’ by them. It’s funny but somewhat professional.

I hold another hand out, this one also has a photo with the picture of someone else. Of a man I’m very much acquainted with. Or was acquainted with. “Avoid the paths of this one. Everything else is the same as usual. We don’t want any deaths or suspicions so do your best and blend in.” I take a careful glance at every single person in this room. I knew who they all were even before I requested for them. I take pride in knowing every single person I do shady business with to the last spec of dust. We all share the same goal, which is mine, and in this goal, we want minimal damage but one large enough to cause a ruckus and they already know that.

Today, trained, armed men are going to position themselves around the school and blend with the students in the school. As usual, the aim to get is to raise the right amount of fear that will leave everyone disoriented and fending for themselves. Enabling a ‘every man for himself’ approach. It’s the easiest chance I’ve got.

“Get ready. We leave at five am.” I order. The men scatter, preparing themselves for what’s in stall for them today. Depending on the circumstances, this will get me in big trouble but I don’t care. All I want is to imbue fear and a little bit of hurt on her, nothing more, but say something tragic befalls her, it won’t be my cross to bear.

I clear my throat. What a beautiful Wednesday it is indeed.

- KILLIAN -

It is early morning and I just happened to be in this accursed place today. Not that I enjoy it, but because soon enough, I wouldn’t need to put up with it. Once my mission has been fulfilled, I’ll give in my resignation letter. Till then, I just have to put up with having the day while away slowly at the coming exams.

Along with the murderer living to see another day.

My gaze darkens. The itch is heightened. It’s getting intense and nearly unbearable but things will fall in place at the right time. Soon enough, all of this will be nothing but a distant memory and I’d have my content at the spilled blood leaking from my hands. Blood belonging to the woman who killed my parents.

A sound diverts my attention, interrupting my thoughts. Someone knocked on my door. While the university is functioning as usual, I consider it too early for students to roam around these halls but daily, I’m stunned by their eagerness to read. If I wasn’t homeschooled, maybe I’d understand it better. But again, it’s just seven-thirty in the morning. Maybe some people’s lives to base on the school.

“Come in. The door is unlocked.” I murmur, pacing around my desk. Soon, I will not remember this place at all and I am excited by it. Not being an undercover staff doesn’t mean I wouldn’t come here occasionally though. After all, my deal with S won’t be complete until I finish my part of the bargain and there is someone here I can’t imagine being apart from for so long.

“Professor.” Chimes from the entrance as the subtle sounds of footsteps slid into my ears.

Thinking of the devil.

“Student.” I say, returning the gesture. Although this woman lives with me in the same house, I can never get tired of staring at her. Of being with her, of enjoying her presence. She’s my own little addiction.

“How are we doing in regards to the approaching examination?” She asks, taking a step forward.

I turn, letting my hands rest behind me on the desk to support my body which rests on the desk. “Me? Quite splendidly. My students on the other hand? I doubt.” I say. A smirk plaster on my face at her bold look. I see someone has done her preparation. I aim to see her thrive in my course and just because she’s taking it doesn’t mean I’ll let loose on the questions. “So tell me, Hazel, how is your morning going?” I ask. My gaze is fixed on her. I’m watching every inch of her body at once that I notice the slightest shift in her movement and biting of her lower lip.

I want to bite that lip. freēnovelkiss.com

“The morning just began but I have a feeling today will be a good day.” Hazel responds. Something has got her happy. I wonder what it is. Should I ask though? No. I’ll wait for her to tell me.

I clear my throat. “A good day for you is a good day for me too.” I hum under my breath. My attention shifts to the floor. “There is something I-“ I pause. My breath hitch as my ears catch onto something. The sound of something metallic.

I know this is a university buzzing with students but I can differentiate certain clings of metal to know this one sounds nothing like something a student or teacher would have on them.

It sounds like heavy metal banging against each other in a compressed sack. My eyes widens as another click slid into my ears.

This time, I know I’m not mistaken. Someone is loading a gun and that someone is near here.

My gaze immediately drifts back to Hazel. There is a small, circular, red laser beam on her forehead. My heart stops beating for a second.

“Killian what?” Hazel asks, giggling. She’s so idle of the situation that it sickens me. Surely my enemies did not trail me here. . . right? This is such a bad time and bad place for this.

“Hazel get down.” I command, trying to keep my voice subtle. That’s a sniper. From the looks of how shaky the laser beam is on her face, whoever it is, is trying to get a good angle before shooting or else the person wouldn’t have waited long enough for a beam to be spotted.

“What?” Hazel questions, confusion written on her face. I swallow when I notice the red dot stop on her forehead.

“Get down on the floor. Don’t ask and just trust me.” I say, panicking this time. My hand stretches forward to assure her to listen to me. I notice my hand quiver. This is how easy it is to frighten me. All anyone has to do is use her.

“Killian what-“

I don’t think I can wait a second more. My body launches forward, pushing her down to the ground along with me. I place my hands behind her head and neck while mid air to soften the effect of the hit.

My ears begin to ring. My heart pulses faster in my chest at the sound of shattering glass. The bullet just burst through the windows. A grunt as our bodies land on the floor slid into my ears.

“Are you okay?” I breath, panting hard as my eyes run round her body. Luckily, I fell on top of her and the broken glass pieces fell on me. I can feel her body shiver in my arms. Before Hazel could utter a word to me, multiple bullets breaking through my office at once deafens my ears.

The situation is worse than I thought.
