Chapter 1076: The Melee of Deities

Sein’s escape route and the decisions he made under pressure had been flawless.

However, if he had known that Furey would not continue pursuing him, there was no way he would have headed into that chaotic mess in the south.

At this point, the chaos erupting in the southern part of the San Jose Kingdom was even worse than what had just unfolded in Mysirral City.

Furey, the God of Smithing, had been targeting the God of Craft in secret this time. Now that his attempt had failed, with his typically composed nature, he was unlikely to make another reckless move.

Although he had not managed to kill the God of Craft, he had pretty much accomplished what he came for.

Given the losses Gondrath suffered in this battle, he would likely spend the next twenty thousand years recovering.

On top of that, Furey had also gained several destroyed mecha units and a giant golem.

Rumble!

Beneath the rubble, the demigod-level plant giant stirred and slowly rose, positioning itself between Furey and Sein’s retreating group.

Its resilience was impressive to have survived a full-on divine artifact coverage strike.

Thick green sap oozed from its battered form.

With heavy footsteps, the plant giant charged at Furey once more.

South of San Jose Kingdom...

Shortly after Sein clashed with Gondrath, Halvren—the God of Suffering—descended upon the region and launched a brutal assault on the already-wounded God of Courage, Thamior.

Halvren and Thamior were old enemies.

Both were intermediate gods, and their feud dated back more than ten cycles before the current Avatar Crisis.

Thamior had already suffered serious injuries in the early stages of the crisis, during a coordinated ambush by Halvren and the Black Dragon King.

Now that Thamior had appeared in the San Jose Kingdom to protect Leyra, the Goddess of Joy, Halvren had followed, eager to finish what he had started.

With Fenrion, the God of Hunt, also making an appearance earlier, the Dark Alliance now had two intermediate deities operating in the heart of the continent.

When Halvren arrived, Thamior was not alone—he was accompanied by Leyra, the Goddess of Joy, and Euphryne, the Goddess of Music.

Even with Halvren’s considerable combat prowess, facing three opponents at once still put him at a disadvantage.

As the battle dragged on, reinforcements began to arrive.

Clerics and templars from the Justice League arrived one after another, further tipping the balance.

Because a divine artifact field had been masking the chaos in Mysirral City, most of the Justice League’s support forces had converged here, where Halvren was making his move.

As powerful as Halvren was, he was still alone—and the Avatar Crisis had affected him just as much as the others.

With more reinforcements arriving by the minute, Halvren’s situation began to look worse and worse as ants. After all, a mass of ants could kill an elephant[1].

Halvren was not the only Dark Alliance god to in the San Jose Kingdom.

Fenrion, the God of Hunt, was a master opportunist.

It did not rush to fight alongside Halvren. Instead, it waited—letting Halvren wear down Thamior and the others before making its move.

As mentioned earlier, several Justice League deities had gathered in San Jose to watch each other’s backs.

So when Fenrion finally struck, two more gods who had been observing the battle could no longer remain on the sidelines.

Damaris, the God of Glyphs and Nymirra, the Goddess of Waters were considered weak deities—two full levels below Fenrion in strength.

Thanks to the Avatar Crisis, all deities were forced to descend into the Prime Materia Plane in their saint-level avatar forms.

Because of this restriction, the gap between them was not as wide as one might expect.

Without such limitations, a demigod-level mage like Sein would not have stood even the slightest chance of escaping Furey, the Rank Five God of Smithing.

The arrival of Damaris, the God of Glyphs, and Nymirra, the Goddess of Waters, only made the Battlefield of Gods in the San Jose Kingdom even more chaotic.

The fighting here was far more intense than anything happening up north.

There, it was a standoff between the God of Craft and God of Smithing, with Sein caught between them.

But down south... more deities had joined the fray than anyone had expected.

When Sein and Yuri flew south at full speed, about half a day passed before Sein realized Furey was not chasing them anymore.

Just as he was about to breathe a sigh of relief, a violent shockwave of divine turbulence and law-level energy surged from the southeast, nearly knocking him out of the sky.

At the edge of his vision, a massive dark-blue water curtain appeared.

Alongside it, several enormous tornado storms twisted through the sky with terrifying force.

From a distance, the horizon looked dark and suffocating.

In terms of sheer power and environmental devastation, the Battlefield of Gods in the southern part of the San Jose Kingdom was already causing more commotion than the clash in Mysirral City.

The appearance of the water curtain and those massive storms signaled one thing: Ysor, the God of Storms, had entered the battle.

Like the others, Ysor was an intermediate deity—but he stood above most of his peers.

Much like Aurelia, the Goddess of Wealth, Ysor had the potential to ascend and become a greater deity.

The key difference between them was that Aurelia relied on her vast reserves of divine power while Ysor relied purely on his own strength in battle.

He was the kind of god who could summon a divine domain without the aid of any divine artifacts, even during the Avatar Crisis.

The water curtain and tornadoes Sein saw were not natural phenomena—they were domains, directly manifested from Ysor’s power.

During the Avatar Crisis, only gods of Ysor’s level or higher could still retain their own might, even if only to a limited extent.

The deities of the Dark Alliance were never as united as those of the Justice League.

So even though three intermediate deities had descended into the San Jose Kingdom one after another, the balance was barely maintained—thanks to five Justice League gods fighting side by side.

That was why no one had come to Gondrath’s aid when he was trapped inside Furey’s crystal barrier. His friends had not betrayed him—they simply were not in a position to help.

As Sein watched the water curtain and violent tornadoes on the horizon, something else caught his attention—Gondrath.

He was getting thoroughly beaten by Furey.

At this point, Gondrath looked like even a Legendary Being could easily finish him off.

Divine artifacts were powerful, but Gondrath had nearly exhausted most of his. Whatever power remained in his artifacts was probably minimal.

Sein glanced at Gondrath’s position on the God Tracker hovering in front of him and gritted his teeth.

He could not walk away empty-handed, not when Gondrath’s condition was even worse than his own.

Pouring another burst of mana into the tracker, he re-locked Gondrath’s location, then spread his demon wings and flew southeast.

“Can you still fight?” he asked Yuri.

“Uh-huh,” came her quiet response from inside the Burning Flame Unit.
