Chapter 938: Star Robes

The battle formation the 7 of them deployed was clearly of much higher quality than the standard 5 man battle formation the experts of the Spirit Luxuriant World used.

However, what really attracted Shang Xia’s attention was the fact that the battle formation could integrate the strength of both Martial Dipper Realm and Martial Extermination Realm experts. That point alone was something the battle formations in the Spirit Luxuriant World couldn’t replicate.

To be able to do something like that... The battle formation seemed comparable in quality to Shang Xia’s Extremity Yin Yang Battle Formation.

From what Luo Qi said earlier, Shang Xia learned that the battle formation was actually something they were imitating from the Star Origin Guards. If they could display such might even though it was a mere imitation of the real battle formation Shang Xia wondered how strong the actual battle formation would be.

An urge to observe the true battle formation appeared in Shang Xia’s mind.

Of course, the most pressing matter at hand was to deal with joint attacks from the 7 bandits. With the exception of their chief who was at the fourth element of the Martial Dipper Realm, there were 2 other Martial Dipper Realm experts. The other 4 were in the Martial Extermination Realm.

With the combat capabilities produced by the battle formation, nearly no existence under the Martial Void Realm was their match. They used it to defeat many opponents in the past and even managed to kill some high-level experts in the Martial Dipper Realm. That was why they were so confident in the first place.

It was a shame their target this time was Shang Xia, an expert at the peak of the Martial Dipper Realm who couldn’t be measured with any sort of common sense.

Facing their combined attack, Shang Xia didn’t dare to be careless. He decided to go all out and unleash his Five Element Annihilation Yin Yang Ring. His cultivation level at the grand completion stage of the Martial Dipper Realm was on full display and even without the Five Element Ring in hand, the Five Element Dipper Qi that emerged from his body was still terrifyingly strong. In the face of overwhelming strength, their cheap tricks were useless. Nothing stood in his way!

The name ‘Five Element Annihilation Yin Yang Ring’ was enough indication of what it could do. With the power of the Five Elements, it annihilated anything in its path. On the outside, it exuded the strength of the five elements and had the ability to seal away other people’s dantian. The inner workings of the Five Element Annihilation Yin Yang Ring was even more terrifying. It could disrupt one’s cultivation and completely eradicate their existence.

Their battle formation crumbled the moment he unleashed his Five Element Annihilation Yin Yang Ring. The communication and cooperation between them were also sealed away by Shang Xia’s Five Element Dipper Qi.

The 3 Martial Dipper Realm experts desperately tried to resist, but the moment they came into contact with Shang Xia’s Five Element Dipper Qi, they felt it surrounding them to turn them into a massive cocoon. The next moment, another powerful strand of energy that contained the power of destruction emerged and tunneled its way into their dantian.

Their dipper qi was melted away with ease no matter how hard they tried to resist. The aura they emitted fell along with their rapidly regressing cultivation level.

Their cultivation regression wasn’t a simple matter of having their inner qi eaten away for the time being or having some Fate Dipper Clones destroyed. If those happened, they would eventually be able to restore their cultivation if they could take some time to recuperate. However, their Fate Dipper Origin was being eroded by the foreign qi at the moment and they would never be able to return to their original level.

Of the 7, the Martial Dipper Realm experts were desperately trying to resist and their cultivations were falling quickly. However, they had the ability to slow down whatever Shang Xia was doing to them. The Martial Extermination Realm cultivators weren’t so lucky. Their cultivations were crippled almost instantly.

Realizing that they were in deep shit and they were no match for the other party at all, the chief screamed in agony again, “We have to run! We fell for their trap! Hurry... We need to get away!”

The Martial Extermination Realm cultivators were no longer able to escape at that point and of the remaining Martial Dipper Realm experts, the 2 weaker ones managed to get dozens of feet away before they were pressed into the ground by Shang Xia making a simple gesture in the air.

The only person who managed to get out of Shang Xia’s Five Element Dipper Qi range was the chief. He started to run in the direction of the Star Origin City with a violently fluctuating aura.

At his level, Shang Xia could easily get rid of all of them if he wanted to. However, he didn’t stop their chief from escaping and instead, he stared into the distance with a trace of anticipation on his face.

As the chief got tens of miles away, a Star Curtain emerged from the ground below. Unable to react in time, the chief slammed directly into it.

“You guys... No, you can’t...” In a state of panic, he cried out in shock and fright.

“Hmph, even without the Star Robe, someone from the Star Origin Guards will always be a part of us. Not to mention the fact that Brother Qi is my, Wu Heng’s, sworn brother. Fu Yuanheng, it’s not the first time you and your lackeys have done this in the wilderness! Your actions brought extremely negative effects to our Star Origin City and I had my eyes on you for a long time now. This time, I caught you in the act and the evidence gathered is more than enough! If you have anything else to say, you can go ahead and speak in the Star Origin Prison!”

The Star Curtain that appeared suddenly crashed down on Fu Yuanheng, sealing him up. Several specks of starlight also condensed to form shackles around his entire body while the other end of those shackles landed in the hands of the expert wearing robes seemingly made of starlight.

When the Star Curtain emerged earlier, Luo Qi, who was still in a state of shock, gasped in fright and muttered to himself, “Star Origin Guards!”

Shang Xia’s voice rang in his ears suddenly. “Looks like it’s someone you’re familiar with....”

Complicated emotions flashed across Luo Qi’s face, but he quickly became a little more excited. “He’s a good brother I made in the Star Origin Guards. If not for the fact that they arrived on time, that guy would have gotten away. We have to take care of the problem at the root whenever we face threats like these...”

The last part of his sentence seemed to be said intentionally.

In response, a chuckle left Shang Xia’s lips. He stared at the 3 experts clad in Star Robes flying over and he mumbled, “They probably arrived a long time ago...”

Luo Qi, who went up to welcome them, was slightly stunned. He didn’t show a shred of emotion on his face and he didn’t turn to look at Shang Xia either. Instead, he sent a voice transmission to Shang Xia and Shang Xia alone. “Are you sure?”

The smile on his face remained, but Shang Xia didn’t respond. The 3 of them were really close and they brought Fu Yuanheng with them. By that time, Fu Yuanheng had been sealed completely. Even his sense of hearing and sight were gone.

“Brother Luo, how have you been?” The 3 of them quickly landed. The person in the lead was tall and lanky, and his squarish face sat on a pretty thin neck. He couldn’t help but stare at Luo Qi from top to bottom to examine the extent of his injuries.

Luo Qi roared with laughter the moment he saw the person in the lead. “I’m fine! Fortunately, Brother Wu appeared in time. Otherwise, that person would have been able to escape! He might look for revenge in the future...”

Wu Heng laughed casually in response, “There’s no need to worry about it. He will never have a chance like that in the future. Now that he has fallen into our hands, the best he can hope for is to spend the rest of his life in the Star Origin Prison. He will have to live a life worse than death!”

Wu Heng’s expression sank suddenly as he continued, “Brother Luo, there’s something else we need to talk about. Do you think our Star Origin Guards aren’t taking care of you well enough or do you not think of me as your brother any longer? Why did you risk your life to enter the wilderness to become a guide for others? Don’t you know how dangerous this is?”

Luo Qi wore An embarrassed expression, but he didn’t want to lower his head and admit anything. Instead, he merely thanked them again and again.

The Star Origin Guard behind Wu Heng sneered in a mocking tone all of a sudden. “Brother Heng, can’t you see? Luo Qi hasn’t given up. He’s still planning to look for an opportunity to restore his cultivation in the wilderness. Hmph, he’s still dreaming! Luo Qi, you might have retired from the Star Origin Guards and might not be able to fight experts in the Martial Extermination Realm, but you are still a Martial Dipper Realm expert! Why can’t you just calm yourself down and cultivate for several years? The essence crystals you earned as a Star Origin Guard should last you a hundred years or two... You might even outlive the likes of us! Why aren’t you content with what you have?”

“Hehe, Brother Liu is right! I’m just not content being an ordinary cripple...” Luo Qi chuckled. He seemed to think of something next and he continued, “Oh, right, look at me, I completely forgot to make the introductions! This is Young Master Shang whom I ran into in the wilderness. Young Master Shang, these Star Origin Guards were my fellow Star Origin Guards when I was back in the service. This is Brother Wu Heng, and there’s Brother Liu Chengyu, and Brother He Yupeng.”

Shang Xia nodded at them as his gaze lingered on their Star Robes.

The Star Origin Guards didn’t seem too interested in Shang Xia. Even with Luo Qi’s introduction, they merely glanced at him and nodded once before looking away.

It might have something to do with their status as Star Origin Guards, and the fact that Shang Xia was no Martial Void Realm Ancestor. He might have gotten rid of their battle formation on his own and displayed his frightening abilities, but they didn’t think too highly of him.

Luo Qi could tell what they were feeling at the moment and he laughed awkwardly, “Since Brother Wu and the others are here, you can handle everything... Since I ran into Young Master Shang, I shall finish my task and finish being his guide.”

Wu Heng swept his gaze across those downcast cultivators before turning to Shang Xia. “Alright, you should head out first. There’s no need to worry about them. They won’t be having a good time...”

“Young Master Shang?” Luo Qi turned to ask.

With a smile on his face, Shang Xia muttered, “Many thanks!”

Heaving a sigh of relief, Luo Qi continued to bring Shang Xia in the direction of the city. However, the moment they could move, they saw several streaks of starlight falling in the distance before a white-browed elder flaked by 4 Star Origin Guards appeared.

Luo Qi froze. A light lit up in his eyes when he saw the person who appeared and he hastily greeted, “I greet the captain and fellow experts!”

The 3 Star Origin Guards beside the white-browed elder smiled at Luo Qi while nodding slightly. The final guard looked the youngest, and he opened his mouth slightly as though wanting to say something.

A frown appeared on the white-browed elder’s face when he saw Luo Qi. “Little Qi, why are you here?” He turned to look at Shang Xia after addressing Luo Qi and his gaze turned a little frostier. Eventually, he turned back to Luo Qi and sighed, “Are you really so unwilling to give up?”

Staying silent for a moment, Luo Qi eventually mumbled, “Captain, I still wish to try it out...”

The white-browed elder didn’t try to dissuade him. Instead, he sighed, “If you run into any trouble in the city, feel free to look for me.”

Wu Heng and the others also ran over quickly after noticing his presence.

“Captain!”

The white-browed elder stared at them with an expressionless face. “Have you dealt with the matter?”

“Yes!” Wu Heng replied with a smile on his face.

Turning around, the white-browed elder got ready to leave. Seeing that, Luo Qi took several steps forward and yelled, “Captain!”

The white-browed elder paused and turned to look at him again. “What is it?”

Luo Qi revealed a hopeful look and he nearly stuttered, “Captain, if... If... If I am able to restore my cultivation to a normal state, your promise to allow me to return to the Star Origin Guards...”

“Pfft...” Liu Chengyu was about to burst out laughing when he saw Wu Heng shaking his head silently.

Of the Star Origin Guards who appeared with the elder, 2 of them revealed looks of shock. They seemed flabbergasted at Luo Qi’s resolution, and the youngest Star Origin Guard who looked a little excited to see Luo Qi earlier lowered his gaze suddenly. No one knew what he was thinking about.

“Captain...” There was a trace of pleading in Luo Qi’s voice as he asked.

The white-browed elder turned to leave abruptly, but his voice rang in Luo Qi’s ears. “Of course, I will keep my word. As long as you truly restore your cultivation, I’ll honor the promise.”

As the Star Origin Guards left with the white-browed elder, Luo Qi stared at their leaving figures and yelled, “Many thanks, Captain! I am grateful to every one of you!”

Shang Xia looked at Luo Qi who was waving with all his might even though the Star Origin Guards had left. He asked suddenly, “Why are you so adamant about returning to the Star Origin Guards?”

Luo Qi’s arms paused for a moment. His voice was filled with desolateness as he muttered, “It’s just a way for me to get rid of this feeling of depression...”

Shang Xia nodded in response. Soon, he continued, “Why do I feel like the Star Origin Guards seem to possess similar cultivation to those bandits?”

“Even if their cultivation realms seem the same, they are miles apart. Even with the imitated battle formation, they will never be able to match up to the Star Origin Guards.” Luo Qi turned to stare at Shang Xia before revealing.

With a smile on his face, Shang Xia chuckled. “Is it because of the Star Robes they are wearing?”

Hesitating for a short while, Luo Qi eventually nodded. “Not everyone can receive a Star Robe. Other than the Star Origin Lord who can make the decision, one can only own a Star Robe after they receive the acknowledgment of the Guard Captain and Commander. Even the captains of the various camps only possess the authority to recommend candidates...

“That captain...”

Luo Qi replied quickly. “Captain Qu also holds a post as the Deputy Commander of the Fourth Camp. His relationship with the Commander is pretty good and the Commander even owes him a favor!”

Shang Xia finally understood what was going on. “How are Star Robes created anyway? How can they possess such magical properties?”

Luo Qi wasn’t surprised by Shang Xia’s question. “I’m afraid only the Star Origin Lord knows...”

“How would you address the Star Origin Lord? Also, what level has he reached in his cultivation?” Shang Xia followed up.

Shaking his head, Luo Qi mumbled, “We address him as the Star Origin Lord. As for the lord’s cultivation level... It’s not something people like us have the qualifications to look into.”
