Spy-x-War Showdown-Chapter 59 - 58 Eyes
59: Chapter 58 Eyes
59 -58 Eyes
Yang Yi entered prison because he wanted to become a spy.
Yang Yi didn’t belong in prison, nor would he mix with street gangs after leaving, much less stoop to drug trafficking.
To Yang Yi, prison was just a school; he didn’t want to waste too much time there, nor did he want to waste any emotion on those scum.
“I’m sorry, I don’t want to join the gang,” he said decisively, rejecting the invitation from the Latino man in front of him.
Although unfamiliar with the prison, Yang Yi wasn’t an idiot.
Even without Chris’s warning, he knew he should never get involved with the gangs inside, for they were extensions of the gangs outside.
Joining one meant becoming a part of it, unable to rid himself of them even after release.
Moreover, joining a gang required a test.
What kind of test?
Of course, it meant making a name for oneself, the simplest being to stab someone a few times.
If you had the guts to knife someone, and didn’t rat anyone out, then you could join the gang.
What if you failed?
What if the attempt to stab someone ended with you getting stabbed instead?
Nothing would happen—the loser would simply be tossed away like garbage, with no one giving them a second glance.
So, of course, Yang Yi wouldn’t join any gang.
He outright refused.
The Latino man in front of Yang Yi didn’t say a word and just got up and left, a departure so uneventful that it somewhat surprised Yang Yi.
Watching the Latino man leave, Yang Yi suddenly sped up his eating because he felt he might not be able to finish his meal.
Chris ate quickly, and Yang Yi felt there was a reason for it.
For example, Chris might be worried he wouldn’t finish his meal.
Yang Yi was sitting with his back to the Boxing King’s group, and now he felt it was a grave mistake.
But initially, not knowing who the black man taking other’s food was allied with, he obviously didn’t know how to react in advance.
Maybe there wouldn’t be trouble during the meal—that’s what Yang Yi hoped for.
He thought that if they wanted revenge, they should wait for a more opportune moment.
The dining hall was full of guards, and it wasn’t a good time to start a fight.
But Yang Yi still decided to move to the opposite side so he could keep an eye on the Boxing King’s group.
No hesitation; deciding to move, Yang Yi immediately got up.
The spot in front of him was open because people had been sitting down and then leaving, so it was still possible to change seats.
Yang Yi stood up, that’s when he heard footsteps from behind, and Chris also suddenly stood up and quickly turned to look elsewhere.
The footsteps were close, and Yang Yi turned around as quickly as he could.
A young black man holding a tray was already standing behind Yang Yi.
Startled by Yang Yi’s sudden movement, he dropped the tray and revealed a knife he had hidden underneath.
With a shout, he hurled the tray aside and lunged at Yang Yi’s abdomen with the knife.
If Yang Yi had panicked, he would have been stabbed, but he didn’t panic.
He just made the wrong decision.
According to the teachings of Wang Wenjiang, Yang Yi’s first choice should have been to deflect the incoming knife with one hand and then strike the black man’s vital points with the other.
Or at the very least, he should have retreated or dodged to avoid the knife before thinking of retaliating.
But Yang Yi didn’t do that.
He wasn’t panicked; he was just very angry.
Yang Yi’s body leaned forward, and he reached out with two fingers, aiming directly for the black man’s eyes.
The black man instinctively tried to dodge the object targeting his eyes, but he couldn’t completely avoid it.
Yang Yi’s fingers were aimed at both eyes and ultimately hit one.
Yang Yi’s index finger traced the bridge of the black man’s nose, then directly stabbed into the black man’s left eye.
“Ah!”
A sky-shattering scream burst forth as a strange sensation transmitted from Yang Yi’s fingertip.
At the same time, he felt a chill in his abdomen, followed by a slight sting.
The black man dropped the knife in his hand, covered his left eye with both hands, and then bellowed, “My eye!
My eye!”
Yang Yi erupted in rage.
He had left Huaxia for the United Kingdom because he sought revenge.
To seek revenge, at the very least, you need to know where your enemy is, which is difficult.
Thus, Yang Yi had no choice but to join the spy circles, so he joined an opera singer troupe with difficulty.
However, the troupe fell apart in a matter of days, and Yang Yi ended up with an Assassin Organization intent on killing him.
Surrounded by dangers, living a hard life, Yang Yi endured.
All he wanted was to find Wang Wenjiang, to learn things that would be useful to him, so Yang Yi entered the prison.
Yet, just for a piece of chicken, someone tried to stab him.
Taking a stab might not result in death, but by what right should he have to hand over his precious food, by what right should he have to take a knife wound if he didn’t?
By what right should he, who just wanted to peacefully learn a few things, be constantly obstructed by these vile creatures.
“Get lost!”
Yang Yi roared, and then, as if possessed, he reached out his finger once again.
His right index finger was still covered with blood and a slimy white liquid, likely parts of an eyeball.
Using this finger, Yang Yi once more aimed for the remaining eye of the black man who had tried to stab him.
He should have stopped, as the guards had already rushed over, but in that moment, Yang Yi only wanted to kill his enemy.
Either endure forever, with a harmless smile to all, or, after long suppression, a violent outbreak.
Unfortunately, Yang Yi chose to erupt in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
But Yang Yi didn’t care.
He knew the consequences of his actions, but he didn’t care.
All he wanted was to intimidate all those who thought him an easy target, so that he could have some peace.
The black man’s instinctive reflex saved his eyeball as he frantically shook his head, causing Yang Yi’s finger, aimed at his eye, to miss.
But Yang Yi truly didn’t want it to end like this, so he pulled back his fist.
Yang Yi clenched his fist, took aim at the black man’s Adam’s apple, and prepared to throw the punch.
This punch, if thrown, would shatter the throat, and the man would die.
But just at that moment, Yang Yi felt a sharp pain in the bend of his leg and involuntarily dropped to one knee, followed immediately by a pain in his back as he then plunged forward to the ground.
A guard had struck Yang Yi down with a baton, then immediately bellowed, “Lie on the ground!”
Without hesitation, Yang Yi lay flat on the ground.
The prisoners around him all stood obediently; the black man, still clutching his eye, continued to howl, while the guards quickly gathered, pinning both Yang Yi and the black man to the floor.
“My eye!”
The black man, whose hands were twisted behind his back and thrown to the ground, cried out in agony.
After a quick moment of thought, Yang Yi immediately shouted in an agonized tone, “I’ve been stabbed!
Save me!
Save me!”
